Got marines secondhand in second edition as a gift from a family friend leaving the hobby. He then gave me the angels of death codex and I was Dark Angels ever since. Granted I've taken quite a few editions off but I still have some of those old marines mixed with the Lion and many others.

Though, now I want to get competitive with a new and more elite army. Just not sure if memeing a dreadnought / terminator / bunkerfall army is even playable let alone fun. Not even sure what I want beyond minimal models and not $1k in knights, custards and GK. I would paint picrel if the army wasn't so hordey for all the lists I see.

I got into the hobby with MESBG back in the day, and that was also the era of Inquisitor 54mm and that stuff really just stuck with me until I got back into the hobby after I heard about GW finally releasing new Inquisition models with Ashes of Faith for Kill Team.

Someday I might try to collect old Inq54 models on ebay just for fun, but they go for an awful lot considering I can't actually play games with them.

Lord is part of the bigger box and not the Raptors box. The Raptor set will have 2 normal sprues + 2 smaller KT sprues with additional KT stuff.

The big box will have Sisters, Raptors, Lord, Nightbringer and 10 Necron Warriors along with some terrain. It's just like the previous KT releases.

Raptors are cursed. I have some of the old metal ones with the sleek backpacks from ages ago. They look nice, but people really underestimate how easy they tip over because they are extremely top heavy. Not fun models to play with.
I also have a box of the current ones, but they are from the manlet age, so they look bad compared to modern chaos marines, because of their wonky proportions and poses, and also they look bad compared to the older ones, because of their generally weaker design.

That new box fixes the scale, and at least a couple of them have normal poses with both feet on the ground. Also that half demon/possessed one looks awesome.

We had them include characters with KT squads before. Think about the Blooded, with their two monopose BSF characters alongside 2 sprues + upgrade sprue.

We also have the recent Servitor team, again including an extra character from the BSF game.

You will especially see the shift to that grip for back edge cuts. There are many ways to enjoy and interpret the setting but I personally think 40k is at it's best when it's "crazy overdressed people in space doing shit", I would much rather read about how some administratum clerk's fucked up caligraphy made an entire world starve ro death, what type of post flesh change psychosis affected a certain necron dynasty to the point their overlord was so paranoid he got rid of all his court and changed them for scarabs, or how some probably illiterate guardsman faced off a ork waaaghboss with nothing but a shotgun from some hillbilly village than ever reaching grandiose marine narratives about honor or whatever. I have no idea why they got rid of templates
the usual excuse is "it caused arguments" but I have almost never experienced that, and any disagreements were quickly resolved with a rolloff

templates made more sense when units had standardised sizes, when they removed templates they introduced primaris and a way more inhibited use of base sizes for everything

keeping the base standardised was off-limits, the sculpts came first
upgrading the size of templates wasn't feasible, not only they were yet another game tool requirement in a game they were trying to make as accessible as possible, but plenty of other units were also still on the good old smaller bases, so it introduced a problem in balancing things out
simply keeping the template weapons nerfed by the increase in base sizes wasn't good, it would have created frustration in players

and that's on top of the fact the existence of templates brought people to space units out in ugly and time wasting ways, where GW wanted the game to be faster

it's not a good decision
but it wasn't the worst decision

Their delusions are quite malleable and seem to be more in tune to how they view their enemies rather than a specific chapter for a specific species. They may view a ordo hereticus inquisitor as a black templar or a minotaur depending on how they collectivly perceive their emotional aura. So a eldar may be a dastardly red corsair or a grim lamenter depending if they are talking to a corsair raid fleet or a friendly iyanden diplomat. Their tolerance towards xenos is a hot topic with the inquisition and the ordo astartes but they recognise their schizophrenia and since they haven't really fucked anything up by doing those alliances their quirks are tolerated.
And yeah, they are of Blood Angels stock and particularly interested in imperial history and ancient artifacts.
