They prefer to avoid one another.
My chapter is fairly small and also the section of space they patrol in is backwater sector of space that regularly isolated by Warpstorms so it's not easy to get reinforcements let alone messages out to the rest of the Imperium. So they prefer to keep an eye on them and monitor them and then keep the CWE at an arms length since they don't have the man power or resources to go into all out war with them.

The CWE are in similiar vain and keep the chapter and the imperials who exist within the sector at an arm's length. Prefering to avoid them and not even communicate with them.
Basically it's a cold war where each side is waiting for the others to fire the first shot.

40k gets dogshit slop for a customer base that will buy ANYTHING.

AoS gets weird high fantasy shit that doesnt really sell that well because most people who buy AoS only buy the big centerpiece stuff as painting projects because they don't play the game.

Specialist games has way more freedom combined with the projects actually have to be good to sell. So Kill Team, Necromunda, Warcry, even Old World get amazing stuff on the regular where as half of 40k releases are actually bad. It attracts the artists internally who want more freedom and actually care and it has to be good or the company consumes its own children and cancels it.

I think most people are more charmed by the creativity or mini sculpt than the skill of painting.
I remember when pic rel won Golden Daemon, a lot of people dont know how it beat a more fancy model like Sigvald with fancy free hands and shadings etc.

would recommend Da Vinci series 35 long taper brushes as well for lining, they are long but not exessively long, but are expensive. I used a size 0 and 1 all year and I will replace these brushes before any other when I need to, I use them exclusively for lines and eye lenses and hard to reach places because of the bristle length. The problem with the Tau, fundamentally, is that they bring the worst kinds of fans into the game.

When you think of the Imperium, you think of giant walking cathedrals with holy weapons and living machine spirits anointed by sacred oils. You think of ancient sorcerers dipping into the magical powers of the collective psyche of humanity to bring forth reality-bending changes. You think of holy warrior demi-gods wreathed in gilded armor taking to the field with a divine brotherhood and warrior code to engage in a sacred and ritualistic slaughter.

The Imperium, along with every other faction, is mystical, they're sacred, they engage with the fantastical and religious elements of the setting.

And then you have the Tau, who look like they just wandered in from a military sci-fi setting, and think everything can be solved with bullets. It degrades the setting by having them immediately be slaughtered to a man for their hubris.

They are a fantastic army with tons of lore, cool canon subfactions and lots of space for /yourguys/ They can be built and played a bunch of different ways. They have always been strong competitively. They have a massive range of excellent plastic models. It's a fantastic hobby project because you have lots of space to put your own spin on the canon schemes, and the Aspect Warriors, Corsairs, and Harlequins give you great opportunities to mix in different colors.

So it's a fun game with great sound design/music and a lot of inter-character/party interaction.

While the in game director is solid, there's only so many times you can play through a given mission before it gets boring, and (at least for me) the mission select map got way worse with the Arbites update.
The 5th class is an extra 12$ and is debateably better than the others.
A lot of cosmetics are locked behind cash shop with little reprieve. If you play veteran hope you like the bog standard Cadian look, since every other flavor of IG (aside from sorta Tempestus) is cash shop locked.

Can't overstate how great the OST is though.

I'm building an all Krieg Siege Regiment army. My list has no tanks at all because Siege Regiment does nothing for tanks, it's all about infantry and artillery.
I'm running 3 artillery teams with Siege Cannons. 6 units of 20 man Krieg squads, each with 2 plasma guns and 2 meltaguns.
Here's my question, on my heavy weapons squads, lascannons, stubbers, or flamers? I can pack 9 lascannons into the army but if my opponent is a horde army, or just doesn't have many tanks/monsters those lascannons will be a waste. Should I take one squad of each weapon type so my bases are covered?

Have been paint/hobby mogging my bf for a few years even though he's the one who got me into it about a decade ago. Oh man, it's been awhile since I've had an opportunity to drop /mydudes/ fluff. Here.

10th is fun, detachments are a good idea. I didn't like only having one way to play an army and having 5/6 relics being garbage. The current system cut down on rules bloat and usually at least 2/4, enhancements per detachment are great but not game breaking.

The only thing I would change is making battleline units mandatory but people would probably bitch about that.

Only if they're retarded. A brick of 20 warriors with 2 cryptothralls, Orikan, a nearby reanimator, and a lord is basically unkillable in a single activation. Awakened Dynasty in particular, also has a strat to activate reanimation protocols during their opponent's shooting/fight phase, so if you didnt somehow kill 26 4++ wounds he's getting 2d3+1 back in between activations, and then at the end of the phase he's going to pop the resurrection orb the lord has and get 1d6+1d3+1 back. And don't forget that they are 1 wound models other than the thralls so anything that COULD kill a knight in 1 activation probably overkills the individual warriors so your damage 3 attacks suddenly only kill 8 guys.

To some extent for some armies, sure. Lots of armies have lost options that came from older kits that hadn't been updated and were discontinued years ago. GW is slowly replacing kits but some ranges have way too much old stuff for them to replace all of it in the short term so they just remove units for a little while so new players don't feel bad about being unable to play their army effectively without an ugly old model that hasn't been sold in years.
It feels bad for the veterans to lose access to options for models they already have, but it probably feels even worse for new players to feel like there are options they never had the opportunity to use at all.

Yeah unlocking detachments seemed like a good move, and probably is for a lot of armies. But for Space Marines specifically it's been pointless.

Some are bland, some are not. I think its kind of fully retarded to think just because its not named BLOODY MARTYR ASSAULT FORCE that it can't be a flavorful and fun ruleset. The detachment set is one of the few bright points of 10th, and for people who actually play the game its generally praised as a system.
