I think I’m finally growing out of legos. I’ve reached the wall.
Nothing being released from Lego excites me the way I used to. I looked around target toy aisles and visited a bunch of Lego stores in nearby malls
And I felt nothing. No joy. No whimsy. Not even a “oh dude I HAVE to buy that”. Just “Heh I guess that’d be cool to own” at best.
I’m very satisfied and happy with the Legos I do own. I have a bunch of of (the ‘66 one is my all time favorite), all of the Lego looney tunes, a Ghostbusters echo 1 set(the 2016 version. The best version), and Optimus fucking prime. I tried to get back in that Lego collector vibe with recent acquisitions of a fantastic four and Toy Story set. But I didn’t feel much out of it other than the feeling I blew money down the drain.
Man. Maybe I should just stop collecting legos. I have everything I could ever want (Lego wise)

It's look more like a remote fortress rather than a full castle with individual compositions.
You need to open up the whole set to have it presentable as some kind of functional castle with the silhouette

The new you don't have to open it up to have the silhouette to look like some kind of huge castle.
But to be fair, unlike the old one, the opening interior of the new ones are open in the back instead of a pointing toward of the courtyard.
So the old one do have the benefit of able to present the castle in all 360 view from the outside

What do we think about the description for the anniversary set that appeared a little while ago saying something about connecting to the monastery? the first The Lego Movie was a brilliant masterpiece of writing that was going to be impossible to replicate. similar to the first Matrix movie. it replied on a surprise reveal, and you just can't re-do that. the LM2 sequel was honestly not a bad try, for what it's worth.

but... Lego DID re-capture that writing brilliance with the Star Wars Rebuild The Galaxy story. except they chose to release that as a Disney+ 4 episode thing instead of mashing it together into a 1-movie theater release. part of the brilliance of the writing, was what made it NOT possible to actually release in the theater! it was such a striking criticism of the way Disney handled the Star Wars story, that they dare not make it popular. it's sort of a miracle they showed it at all.

Why was there never an Ancient Egypt theme?

Before you say it, yes, I am aware of both Adventurers and Pharao's quest. That's not what I'm talking about, those are modern day characters exploring ancient ruins. What I mean is a theme that is actually set in ancient times. We have had several "ancient" themes such as Castle, Pirates, Vikings, Western or Ninja, so why not Ancient Egypt?

I also know there are several minifigures of mummies or pharaos, so it's not like Lego is completely avoiding it. Same question for Roman Empire. Why not?

considering Lego ninjas started out as non-themed, they added colors, like the Space figures. and kids were drawn to it (more colors! oh! there's a green one now!) we could have easily wound up with Space-go or Castle-go, the original gimmick of spinning was more like a Ninja move, so here we are decades later with Ninjas

This is what I don't get, Lego did Nexo Knights which was supposed to be Castle but Ninjago, but it got it all wrong, me personally, I would have rebooted Knights Kingdom 2004, that was perfect for an action theme and had the colored heroes. I would have made a GOOD show and give them fantasy villains like orcs, skeletons, dragons, ghosts, etc. Wanna give them vehicles? Don't do technological ones, make things like steampunk or rune magic shit like fucking Zelda has vehicles now. No, unless they completely reworked it to be a "TTRPG Game Master kit" type of theme that gives you sets, pieces and figs to create props for campaigns for various RPGs. The orinial Heroica sold like ass for a reason. Board games (outside of DnD) are become more and more of a niche.
