I was on board with S2 up until the Carver story was over, then it felt like they didn't really know what to do after that, characters who I was building Clem's relationship with since episode 1 started to get killed for and the newer characters who ended up being more prominent weren't as interesting. When the game had me deciding between Kenny, who was present in the story since S1 and had a bond with Clem, and Jane, who showed up like halfway through S2 and has been a selfish cunt most of the time, it wasn't hard for me to side with Kenny at all despite him clearly starting to go off the deep end.
The best ending for him is leaving Clem in Wellington, feels like he finally got some peace of mind and can now move on from his trauma of failing to protect his loved ones.

I think they did the switch up of Luke for Jane because they screwed his writing by the second half, he disappears until he's captured and after that he's a screw up that folds to whatever Kenny tells him, even then he remains an upstanding guy that wishes to be better so it's hard to imagine a scenario where Kenny wouldn't come across as a maniac if he escalates conflict with Luke, he's just too much of a good guy to not make it one-sided. Was actually replaying it recently, starting from an old save which was on Episode 2, and I gotta' say, it doesn't hold up nearly as well as I remember. Things were contrived as to why Linda and her boys just NEEDED meat (I think there was a hint that the father dying hit them hard, but that feels like weak reasoning), WHY it is that they needed to cut up Mark and feed him to the gang right that fucking moment, and a horde of walkers appearing at the end felt like the author just going "...Eh, and then zombies attack or something, that's why the gang can't look the place for food."

Kinda but you still have to deal with a forced romance as a story hook, a weak main villain that can straight up disappear from the story, weak side cast with some really bad deaths, a climax that forces the same fight no matter what you do, and Gabe might still be annoying. The real problem for me is that they wanted to make a new story but instead of going back to the early days of the apocalypse to see the development of the new cast, they just go forward in the timeline so the new characters end up feeling kinda weird, like they are just getting used to the apocalypse even though it's been years for them. The flashbacks while well written, don't help because Javi may act the same way he does now as he did 4 years ago before the end of the world, even though we are told he was quite different back then, so his development can go unnoticed. All and all, Javi and David's relationship would still be the highlight.

Season 4 was shit. I couldn't finish it because i disliked it too much. But yes they did strike gold with season 1. Telltale just couldn't capitalize on it further. 2 was just okay, it had some moments i suppose. But it felt like they could never really top the first entry.
