Was his sacrifice worth it in the end?
>>715410021 (OP)Yeah, more or less. Could've been handled a bit better, and it would've been cool if he got to fight Asgore in true pacifist, even if it would've been completely futile, but still.

>>715410632Eh, just play the game along the three routes, do whatever.
I personally like the true pacifist ending, but if you're going for "justice" then the flawed pacifist ending is probably more your speed.
>>715410632If you're fine replaying the game from the start, just go whichever path you want first.
>Neutral is recommended either first or last depending on if you want to end the game on a high note or not.>True Pacifist is highly wasted potential for fan lore>Genocide (Killing everyone and grinding every room clean fo encounters) is a slog to get through, but has a great final boss. Tough as nails though, save it for last if you really plan to go for every major ending. Also plan your toute and stock up on good items.
>>715410632>Heard this games writing in certain routes was assIt's questionable in parts but overall it's alright for a fangame and remains tame.
As for a first playthrough nothing is stopping you from doing any of the routes but I found doing a Neutral > Pacifist > Genocide flowed well providing context for each character's story.
Going in blind is best though, just take your time and explore each area as you enter them.

>>715410685Regardless Clover was going to die from Asgore.
Other option being that they take Clover in and hide from the guard? Plenty of writing covering that what if.

Like, I know she made some pretty bad choices here and there but nothing she did in UTY ever really crossed the line into actual malevolence or sheer selfishness, it was mostly just a bunch of sunk-cost fallacy shit that made her the way she was, so I feel like it would be pretty out of character for her to intentionally hurt Clover (or any child) for *that* reason, as opposed to something at least halfway justifiable.
>>715411818What's this one from, KFFT?

>>715411207Well, let's weigh their options morally
On the one hand, they could let a kid kill himself in front of them and enslave his soul for the purposes of abetting the genocide of his entire species
On the other hand, they could choose not to do that, at the risk of getting in trouble with a law enforcement organization with ONE(1) moderately competent member, an organization they already have a mole planted in
>>715411819Oh no you're completely right there.
Should've probably prefaced my post with it being the fan-interpretation of her character.
Ceroba certainly made a lot of mistakes and knows she was in the wrong, Pacifist fight showing this. It would be somewhat out of character to act like that given that even when she wanted Clover's soul she hesitated.
>>715411989Man, I wish people wouldn't be so harsh to the roba, she's been through enough.

>>715412417Her story is great in concept but people tend to get stuck on some parts which probably could've been written better.
But she certainly is tragedy incarnate and portrayed with far more emotion than say Toriel or Asgore despite also falling under the same "grieving parent" trope.
It sorta clicked for me fully when her fight had "snd_ceroba_scream" play over the hopes and dreams motif.

>>715412729for me its first, that they didn't have kanako find the serum on her own, second, that ceroba goes so willingly with clovers sacrifice despite the parallels to the mistake she made with her daughter, and last that she asks clovers permission pretty much if he wants to die alone. it feels like the writing got terminally online for a few bits there
>>715413850I always thought that Ceroba should've stayed with Clover as he passed on comforting him in his final moments.
A sort of closure to her story and a sign she's willing to change and remember his sacrifice.
>>715414109when I talk about the terminally online part I think what happened is the writing/writers forgot they are writing a child, and that this is a mother getting over how she failed her own daughter and instead got tied up in the western cowboy themes. Some of those online circles get really tied up in stuff like "dont pick up your babies without permission" from being detached from reality, so something like ceroba asking a dying child if she should stay makes sense in that mindset. Unfortunately when you connect with reality again its extremely offputting instead.
I really tried to get through Yellow but I just didnโt give a shit about the characters. I wanted Martlet to shut the fuck up most of the time, it felt like a bad retread of papyrus.

>>715414347that would be a viable alternative. A lot of the moments that bother me really do so because its supposed to be adults talking to a child. you could play off the stoic cowboy dying alone thing with an older character and it wouldnt feel strange because theres an implied "life lived" and an end to a journey but when you put that on a kid it comes across wrong when there are people that logically would have something to say about the situation, but just kind of dont.
>>715414559its scary but I think that feels very in character.
You know, the pacifist ending would make a lot more since if the game was called Undertale Green and was about the kindness soil
>>715414347If UTY starred an adult itโd be a dating sim
So I'm assuming Martlet's transformation when you fight them is a blunt allegory for transitioning, and that the character is canonically trans. Is that correct?
>>715414787Yeah, of course, but obvious hmofa potential aside, having Clover be an adult would make a lot of the interactions between them and the various monsters of the underground (or rather, the interactions from the monsters *at* Clover) feel way more natural and make more sense. Obviously the whole thing with Clover's sacrifice and their friends leaving them would be a bit better, but it would also fix the way Martlet, Starlo, and Ceroba act towards them in their own segments, given that each of them seems oddly willing to let Clover just take the lead on pretty much anything even though they're supposedly a child.
>>715414918Yeah it's been confirmed Martlet is trans and the player character is as well

btw sig posted the next draft for return to form
I'm pretty sure Martlet using the syringe and transforming at the end of the genocide route is, at most, a metaphor for her gaining the confidence/will/determination/whatever to finally try and stop you from killing people (though she is extremely too late), not really anything past that.
But man, she really did wait until the very last second to try and do anything didn't she? I mean yeah, it was an unwinnable battle because of Flowey saving and loading for you, but it's not like she knew that and was intentionally waiting to try and find a workaround or something.
Man, now that I think about it, is Sans better at his job than Martlet?
>>715415574Seems like a syringe is a little too specific to my mind, I think there is some credence to them being actually trans. I am a bit biased tho desu

Cerobaโs arguably one of the worst characters in UTY, let alone any UT game. Sheโs mostly liked because people want to fuck her.
She'll never be able to escape what she's done. She ended the game in the same exact place she was before.
>>715417739>>715417286Eh, Asgore's done worse and people generally don't seem to hold it against him.
Ceroba had a few dumb writing moments, but outside of those, I genuinely find her to be a fun, likeable character.
And yes, obviously I wanna bone her, but c'mon, people wanna bone every UT/DR character canon or not, so that's not too out there.
>>715418245>Asgoreโs done worseAnon, itโs his job to collect human souls. Itโs a matter of when he gets them, less than if.
If anything, heโs too nice for his role. He hesitated when it came time to kill another human, and itโs pretty clear he doesnโt want to be king. But someone has to do it.
On the other hand, Ceroba lets another child die on her watch and seems to feel little remorse when Clover actually does it.
>I genuinely find her to be a fun, likeable character.Good for you. I however heavily disagree. Ceroba is a humorless, emotionless shell of a monster, and sheโs the least funny thing to come from this game.
>people wanna bone every UT/DR characterWaifuable characters tend to garner more fanfare than others, and Ceroba is no different. Itโs not a coincidence that her and Martlet have the most fanart.
>>715418815I don't feel like arguing with you on most of that, a lot of it is kinda just personal opinion at the end of the day and that's whatever, but
>Waifuable characters tend to garner more fanfare than othersAs if Sans isn't easily the most lusted-after character from this entire series, the funny little skeleton man who makes puns and drinks ketchup.
For shame.
>>715419018Fans worship Sans because he belongs to the Tumblr sexyman trope, which requires a special breed of autism you wonโt normally find in real life.
Ceroba and Martlet fit in with your typical waifu archetype. They possess conventionally feminine designs and happen to be anthro furries as a bonus.
I donโt see how Iโm any more wrong for criticizing fans for valuing the design over the personality.
Itโs simply common sense that more normies/furries will flock to attractive women, whereas weirdo designs like Sans carve out their own niche (which is more like a cult following built from Tumblr fangirls than functional human beings).
>>715419506>Fans worship Sans because he belongs to the Tumblr sexyman tropeNo he doesn't, that's revisionist history. Every character who can be said to have been a "tumblr sexyman", which is in actuality about 5 characters at most, was tall, thin as a lampost, and general well put together or formal in some way, such as The Doctor (10th or 11th usually), BBC Sherlock, The Onceler, etc. Sans completely clashes with literally all of those characters and doesn't even remotely fit with any of them.
Anyway, I still don't feel like arguing about this to any major degree, it's way too late for that and this isn't a super objective thing to argue about. I can't blame you for disliking Ceroba on a personal level, that's just how it is, to each their own, but I don't think she has too many major objective issues outside of those two particular things that honestly feel pretty out of character for her when they happen. That's not an excuse, but like I said, I don't really care to fight over this.
>>715414559She's channeling Shu here with these impotent threats.

>>715414918Its actually an allegory for prescription drug abuse, and how many people feel like they need to do it just to keep up. We can see how it at first gives her super powers, but then by the end of it she turns into a melting miserable mess. This shows how drugs may feel like a boost, but really they're just setting you up for failure in the long run.
>>715415550Anon, the only trans character in UTY is you.
>>715415839>implying Axis would cheat on his wife
>>715419885I probably donโt need to keep writing about this, but hereโs another post to clarify.
When I say Tumblr sexyman, that really means โany unconventional male character with a fanbase on Tumblrโ. That goes towards unconventional designs, too. Because I donโt believe a Tumblr sexyman needs to fit a certain design, but they do need to exhibit some kind of quirky personality.
Sans is just as much of a Tumblr sexyman as all the others you listed because heโs quirky. He doesnโt look conventionally attractive, but heโs confident, carefree and funny, while also having a mature side and badass powers. That really pushes a lot of fangirlsโ buttons for some reason.
As for my thoughts on Ceroba, I simply donโt like her because sheโs a straightwoman in a setting that doesnโt need one. Matter of fact, I donโt find most UTY characters funny, but Ceroba especially. Her design is alright, her personality, not so much.
I think thatโs about all I wanted to say on this.

Ive reached snowden and well the current shit with dalv has made me dislike her. Since reading a lot of the dalv dialogue while knowing about the ending is just frankly heartbreaking.
Like heres dalv who finally found a friend after his original friend dissapeared. Whose very grateful towards clover and wants him to show up for his next birthday. And then a certain something happens in the ending related to a certain fox mom. A certain fox mom who was responsible for dalvs original friend dissapearing, too.

>>715423819Alright, I see where you're coming from, but also, most of the underground doesn't have any specific light source. Where's the light come from in the normal ruins? Snowdin? Waterfall? Hotland and the Core get a pass since I imagine Hotland just has the lava light things up and the Core is a massive artificial construct so of course it has lights built in, but the rest of the underground seems to be completely well lit using exclusively ambient light, so I'm not sure why it's a problem now.
>>715423945>but the rest of the underground seems to be completely well lit using exclusively ambient light, so I'm not sure why it's a problem now.good point. I should probably replay ut to figure this out too.

>>715425016Cute and lonely

>>715424761>>715425071I'd also add that intent is very important too, both the character's intent and the writer's. Ceroba's actions are deeply retarded due to bad writing but she's not driven by spite or legitimate malice but by ignorance and desperation.
Toriel's intent and driving point is always spite, everything she does in Undertale is mainly to spite Asgore and her kingdom. The moment a child wants to leave her roleplaying session she completely loses interest in their safety and even encourages them to kill other monsters and her betrayal death dialog is pretty damning too. Getting rid of Dess for corrupting Asriel or something insane like that wouldn't be out of character for her, extreme, but not out of character, she already dislikes Carol too.
>>715425513You bring up a lot of good points about intent. However even with that, ut still shows that there was always a limit of what shes willing to do. Which is trying to directly kill a child. (but you are indeed 100 percent right that cerobas intentions are way better than toriels)
If it turns out toriel got rid of dess, then it removes the only thing that toriel has which is better than ceroba. Which is refusal to kill a child
If toriel trully did get rid of dess, then I will firmly join the toriel is way worse than ceroba camp.
>>715425513Posted a bit too early.
Toriel's situation in Undertale is entirely self-inflicted too. She's the queen, she is in a position of power, she could bring everything to a stop if she wanted, Gerson states she was considered the real decision maker in the kingdom when she was around, and Asgore is permanently pussywhipped to her, so she would be the only fucking person in the underground with the ability to stop him after just letting things cool down a little bit.
Let's say the first child drops down and Toriel is legitimately serious about her caretaker role. She could have escorted the kid through an Underground that still recognizes her as Queen, and enough time would have passed for Asgore to realize he couldn't really go through with it, so Toriel could perfectly talk him down, but that wouldn't really show Asgore would it? What would do that instead is just letting him go through that plan she hates so much then smugly lecturing him right at the end. Asgore BTFO at the cost of the lives of 6 human children (7 if Frisk wasn't Jesus) and god knows how many monsters.
>>715424601well we've got two separate devanon takes here. (DRY1 and DRY2 respectively)
between both, you've got cole (clover = cole like frisk = kris) and kanako as the main duo, some light world lore points like a tension point being that cole's at risk of being taken from martlet. the sprites for those two are the same since DRYanon2 used DRY1's sprites (with permission) after DRYanon1 dropped it for a few months.
some inspired mechanics, for example DRY2 lets you split party control M&L style. this inspired DRYanon1 to add split gates, a more controlled version of the mechanic.
DRYanon1 has a chapter and a half demo so far, and is working on a revamp.
someone else uploaded it for him (with permission of course)
https://gamejolt.com/games/deltaruneyellow/981988
DRYanon2 should be working on the battle system but he extremely lazy and currently not working on the game. _i_ should feel ashamed for my_ incredible laziness.
they both have different main stories though, and takes on the main characters themselves.
>>715425916>What would do that instead is just letting him go through that plan she hates so much then smugly lecturing him right at the end. Asgore BTFO at the cost of the lives of 6 human children (7 if Frisk wasn't Jesus) and god knows how many monsters. You are suggesting toriel intentionally planned for the kids to die, due to spiteful reasons?
>>715426068Not planned, but she knew that there would be deaths, deaths she could have stopped, but that would have required her to let her pride eat some shit for a little bit.
>>715426119I need to think about this more, but admittingly allowing something that you know would cause people to die, when you could easily prevent it, is not a good look for toriel. In some ways its worse than directly murdering a child since instead of one victim theres multiple victims. And unlike ceroba, toriel actions is fueled by spite instead
One more thing about intent, Deltarune Toriel is really relevant to this because it shows that her character flaws are inherent to her, they don't come from her backstory. Without the tragedy of her children's death and Asgore's decision, she still ends up as a spiteful wino and neglectful caretaker for her non biological child. If you remove Chujin's death and the blue powerade from Ceroba's backstory then you'd have to pull some really contrived shit to have her on the spot she is in UTY, like in a DRY take.
>>715426470well you've provided sufficent logic and reason in your arguments. I need to think about it but admittingly your logic seems to be good
>>715426385Don't forget that again, it's not just the human children, but whatever monsters they take with them too. Think about Integrity in UTY for instance, Toriel had the opportunity and the power to stop what happened there in many ways at many points in time, but spite was more important, and not only did Integrity die (and die a horrible death at that) but so did many other monsters AND it was the catalyst for Chujin's downfall.
>>715426596It's alright, I just like posting a good teardown of Toriel and Deltarune gave me a LOT of ammo.
>>715426470As someone who tends to defend Ceroba to the death around these parts, I would honestly like to agree with this, and I do with most of it, but I feel like it does also at least somewhat ignore the fact that the circumstances in which Deltarune Toriel exists may not be 100% normal either, with it being implied that whatever caused her and Asgore's relationship to fall apart had something to do with the dark worlds and The Knight and whatnot, so it's still possible that she's been affected by that more than may be immediately obvious. I'm not saying this makes her completely innocent or anything, she still has a lot of faults, I'm just saying that Deltarune Toriel isn't necessarily 100% untouched by extraordinary circumstances.
>>715426717>Don't forget that again, it's not just the human children, but whatever monsters they take with them too. Yeah I was thinking about the monsters too when I stated the cause people to die. Her indirect kill count includes humans and monsters.
> good teardown of Toriel and Deltarune gave me a LOT of ammo.chapter 3 and 4 really did double down on the toriel bad stuff
>>715426815That's a good point, although Rudy's dialog about her college days in both the hospital and the church do at least establish the wino part as predating whatever went down with Dess.
>>715426819It was less doubling down and more clarifying things that were already very much implied in Deltarune (Kris's room, Rudy's dialog about her) or even in Undertale material like the Alarm Clock text. I bet Toby felt it was time to make that more obvious since apart from Kris's room those were all missable things for the average player.
>>715427068>It was less doubling down and more clarifying things that were already very much implied in Deltarunefair enough, that is true
>>715425016The appeal is they have no character at all so people can project whatever they want onto them.
The age old background character scenario.
t b h the next section for me is snowden. So if I go to that section I will probably remember the reasons I dislike martlet
Then the dunes where I will probably remember the reasons why i dislike starlo
Then the lab where I will probably remember the reasons why I dislike chujin
ANd then the ending where I will probably remember the reason why i dislike ceroba
Im probably gonna post rants on all of them eventually. They were all pretty horribile in their own unique ways
>>715428352Man I dunno, disliking Ceroba was fairly common, and a lot of people kinda just forget Dalv, but not liking anyone?
Honestly I'm not sure any of this is for you, I think only the official tony fox stuff can satisfy you at this point.
>>715410685>cerobaIn regards to ceroba its really weird since she stated:
"* Most might act# cheerful, but life down# here..."
"* ...It's hopeless."
"* That's why they look to# the King for assurance."
"* They believe once he# gets seven SOULs and# breaks the barrier..."
"* ...he'll easily be able# to overthrow whatever# awaits on the Surface."
"* A rather foolish# outlook if you ask me."
"* Who knows how the humans# have prepared for# retaliation since then?"
"* But I digress... We# should handle our own# problems first."
"* I can't imagine what# Kanako's going through# right now..."
She thought the plan would fail and monster kind would get rekted. Which makes her support for clover suicide strange. Because she knows clover sacrifice would have been meaningless in the end
>starloIn regards to starlo its also really strange. Hes a cowboy that loves surface culture. For him to suddenly support the destruction of everything he loves in the surface is just really strange.
He should have actively resisted the plan
And its not like starlo couldnt have known. Blackjack knows about it and he lives near starlos place. he interacts with starlo too.
Dina probably knows about it. And shes also near starlo too.
And ceroba also knows about it. And shes connected to starlo too
>martlet:This one is the confusing one. In one hand martlet is so stupid that she could have failed to connect the dots. In the other hand, shes a royal guard who probably learned about the plan a long time ago.
Shes admittingly stupid enough to not recognize her name (chujins document scene). But would she be stupid enough to not recognize that clover would be connected to the human genocide plan
>>715429447I was exaggerating. I do like the characters. Its just I have issues with all of them at the same time.
And replaying uty is going to make me remember those issues. Gonna be fun
>>715410021 (OP)Flowey not having Clover's soul atop the other five means he probably wouldn't have had enough juice to return as Asriel during the final monster-absorbing scene, and therefore Frisk wouldn't have broken through and given everyone their freedom. So yeah, it was.

>>715429481>Because she knows clover sacrifice would have been meaningless in the end*because she THOUGHT clovers sacrifice would have been meaningless in the end
>>715410021 (OP)Noncanon slop. Is the creator making constant threads about this dogshit game or something because he's pissed off that Deltarune took the fandom's focus? What a faggot.
>>715425016Cheering up the lonely-type is always an easy way to create character draw.
>>715430038Noncanon =/= not enjoyable on its own, nor is anybody arguing to canonize it. Go be a faggot in the other hundred threads up.
quick question, is there any evidence in uty that shows martlet knowing about asgores genocide plan. Or was she just ignorant?
>>715430038we've been having weekly threads for months now. the last one got overun by shitposters and died early so we made a second one.
>you cant like it... BECAUSE YOU CANT OK???cope.
>>715424907>Asgore's the murderer in UT>Toriel's the murderer in DRPeople forget what their last name is an anagram of.
>>715425071Or she's simply the one blocking it out of Kris's mind, like the parental lock.
>>715410021 (OP)>sacrificeLmao not on my save.
>>715430339Well she's a royal gaurd but otherwise no shes just staggeringly stupid sometimes, she couldnt connect the dots when she found the file with her name on it in chujins basement that it was talking about her.
>>715431171unironically if you put her in court regarding this, her lawyer would succesfully defend her by saying shes too stupid to have known.
DRYanon2 here.
no update, this month is surprisingly packed with updates for stuff i've been looking forward to.
but i am bored. give me a few green ideas, UTY or DRY.
>>715410021 (OP)Damn, the Roba eatin good today.
>>715433742roba cant even beat one child that cant save/load.
how could she possibly beat three of them that can?
>>715435553She's waiting for them to kill each other and take the souls obviously. She's just floating there, menacingly.
>>715435553>roba cant even beat one child that cant save/load.but we can save/load?
>>715436816Flowey can. Clover can't.
>>715436816clover cant, his will is weak.
>CeroBRUH, like dawg what are you doing? no cap f'real.
If Kanako was still alive Ceroba would have to listen to that.
>>715438705no because kanako isnt a ret... isnt that retarded.
I can relapse on Yellow threads for a little longer, I suppose.
>>715415571Read it, pretty good. Everything just leads on cliffhangers doesn't it?
I better not have to wait longer.
>>715438909Kanako is most certainly a Ret Paladin. She'd wear the Judgement set to make Cole cream.
>>715439846i dont play wow(?), whats a ret paladin
>>715437905>>715438053he still could save/load through Flowey, so for all intents and purposes he did have that power
>>715423945I'm pretty sure most of the light in the Underground comes from magic crystals and holes in the cavern roof. The problem is that the dark ruins are explicitly dark.
>>715440149yes but it still means he was weak willed.
even with flowey's resets he jobbed on undertale's normal path.

>>715425016>She's cute>some guys like bugs
>>715440209>even with flowey's resets he jobbed on undertale's normal path.I always thought that was because Clover couldn't remember anything between loads, not because he was a jobber, so basically he bruteforced his way through the underground, that would be equivalent to first trying Undertale until hotlands (which means that Clover most likely fought Undyne and defeated her too)
>>715433505Chujin gets a broken tv from the curb and repairs it (its Tenna)
>>715438705>>715438909Kanako would be a high functioning autist, but the instant you get outside of one of her interests she becomes genuinely retarded.
>>715441915>having an in depth and meaningful conversation with kanako>try to change the topic>all you get is a vacant smile>now that its no longer her hypefixation there's absolutely no thought in her head.
>>715410021 (OP)>>715410256>Was his sacrifice worth it in the end?No, reminder that in every other ending, but the True Pacifist Route monster kind is either at best is hopeless and right back to square one with all the souls gone or the entire species is wiped out or suffering a fate worse then death.
Also reminder that there is no cannon ending, A fact that I feel like the dev forgot
>>715425016I just think she neat, also an example of wasted potential.
for return to form, what would (you) like to see clover and kanako doing in the festival next chapter?
>>715441793>tenna's gone from town to town for a while, nobody really seems to want to keep him>eventually, he ends up in chujin's shop.>a lot of care and effort was taken to fully repair the old CRT, but within a month he looked good as new.>of course, a dark world opened not long after...>--->[tennas intro]>T "and YOU TWO are my lucky contestants">K "... what?">C "a game show?">tenna freezes.>T "hey, what im doing isnt out of style! this is a [GAME SHOW]. you two will play a [GAME] on my [SHOW], answer [QUIZZES] and beat [PHYSICAL CHALLENGES]!.">C "it sounds fun... but we do have an important adventure...">K "also this is a tech shop, i was expecting... a factory? a lab?">tenna becomes desperate>T "i know that but i was made to entertain. i was expecting a family to gather around me and watch the [HOLIDAY] specials...">T "chujin... listen kids, he doesnt want entertainment. he has me displaying analytics for him all day. and on a CRT! who even does that!?">K "yeah that sounds like daddy...">T "please, just let me have this. once you two close the fountain it'll be back to displaying boring numbers all day.">K "(hey cole, maybe we could go on his game show, just for a while? might even help us get closer to the fountain than if he was an enemy)"
>>715444304I was thinking something more heartfelt about Chujin saving Tenna because he appreciates him as an expertly crafted piece of superior tech from a bygone age.
>>715433505Au where Roba was the boss monster who died instead of Chujin Chujin is still a scientist and his research killed her, and he becomes the main antagonist instead of her. I leave it to you whether his research has still somehow put Kanako in a fallen down state.
>>715445035oh. yeah.
might as well make it a continuation.

>>715446691I'm going to pair this with that idea an anon had in another thread where Chujin is a secrett Super Sentai fan, and imagine that after he finds out his machines have feelings he decides to watch some of it on the TV when no one is around.
>>715430038>>715430424what's with people hating a thing because its "non canon"? I've seen a guy reject all my suggestion for other fangames (like pokemon or mario) because they aren't "official", despite sometimes they being better than the official products

>>715413620Another reason why the pacifist ending irks me so goddamn much. Being nice basically gives you a free pass to not get murdered, one headpat and the entire Guard collapses. And there's no way in hell Asgore would stomp all the way out of his castle and into the Dunes for a human.

I had the idea a while back that Darkblade has this sort of Sonic/Shadow or Vegeta/Goku rivalry going with Asgore. but its entirely one sided. Darkblade is always thinking about how much stronger and cooler he is that Agore and is mad that people like Asgore more than him, meanwhile Asgore is completely clueless to all of this, and doesn't harbor an ounce of ill will towards Darkblade.
I have no idea how or where I would include this in the game though since I have a hard rule against Undertale characters appearing in it. So I'm just sharing it here.

Toby is pretty clear what he means here.
>>715471364Its not the same as how Deus Ex handles it because it makes none of the endings canon Invisible War made it so that there was one mono ending where everything that could've have happened in the individual endings of DX happened in one big mega ending. Its kinda the worst of both worlds since it undermines the player's choice and the narrative weight of the ending regardless of which ending you got.
Meanwhile Undertale has every ending and no ending be possibly canon because you're a time lord who can and will get whichever ending he wants, and change said ending whenever he pleases. And then it doesn't come back in the sequel and ruin everything.

A fox mom who has to deal with the complicated issues of raising a human child. Alongside trying to hide him.

So assuming DRY isn't forced to become an AU, and that phone noise isn't revealed to be something we never expected, what relation does Gaster have to DRY?
We can hear that sound which is associated with him whenever we use thee phone in the dark world. Sure DRYanon might've just done it as a reference to Deltarune, and he probably isn't going to make his plot closely tied to Deltarune, but that connection is still undeniably there.
>>715479229dry anon said hes going to ignore gaster. He stated this in the other place.
He also said if gaster turns out to be important then dry will be an u
>>715479229>>715479367I personally believe the noise isn't directly gaster related but it is actually darkness when put through a speaker, hence why it plays in entry 17 (which we know now is gaster making a dark fountain), but also the bunker and the holiday basement
So in DRY, might as well just never mention it and keep the noise as just a reference to the DR phone (because otherwise, how do you expect phones to work in a dark world?)
>>715479367>>715479452>darkness when put through a speaker, hence why it plays in entry 17 Yeah, but chopped up bits of that noise are also the entry 17 guy's dialogue sound
Gaster doesn't have to be involved in the plot at all to be behind that noise. The same way Gaster gets 0 mentions or appearances in UTY, but is still behind the existence of the core and indirectly responsible for the Steamworks being shut down. It could simply be that whatever darkness shenanigans Gaster pulled caused that phone noise to happen in every dark world. So now even if he's not involved in what Kanako and Cole are doing, his stuff still interferes with their phones.

Hello, it's Partners Anon reporting in after quite a while.
Here's an incomplete draft for chapter 11: https://pastes.io/partners-chapter-11-partial-draft
I had to use a pastebin alt because for some reason, this draft got flagged as "partially offensive or questionable" by Pastebin.
Sorry it took so long just for an incomplete draft (though this draft is pretty big). This chapter beat my ass and life got busy for a while, but I'm still kickin'. I hope it's enjoyable, especially since this is the first time that I'm writing a lot of dialogue for characters outside of Clover and Martlet. I also played around a bit with the Feisty Five's intro, to lean into their theater-kid angle.
I appreciate all critique. Also, sorry for posting so late in the thread. I really looked for the thing over the weekend, but I only saw it today by chance.

twelve people have been linked to DRY2's gamejolt page through chatjpt.
>>715495729they probably ask chatgpt for DRY instead of looking on a search engine, because there are people that unironically do that nowadays
>>715495460surely russian has a word for when something is ambiguous or not determined right? There's still many people who think that frisk, chara and even kris are left up to the unknown/imagination on that front. if a russian sees a figure but cant tell if its a man or woman, if they describe it to someone else does the language default to masculine or feminine?
>>715495837at least for latin based languages, there isn't. gender unknown defaults to male. from the little I've seen of russian I think its similar
there are people trying to insert "e" as a gender neutral term (usually "o" is used for males and "a" for females) but everyone hates it
>>715495938ah that makes sense, im not a fan of people trying to insert things like that into languages they aren't already a part of but I wasn't sure since even languages like german have netural terms iirc even though the language is heavily gendered. but I guess german and english are already fairly close on the family tree all things said.
>>715495460>>715495837Russian language is strongly gendered, even inanimate objects have genders, verbs and adjectives also change depending on the gender of the noun they are attached to. There's definitely no counterpart to singular they. Unofficial Russian translations of Deltarune sidestepped the issue by rewriting phrases to make sure Kris is not referred by any pronouns and there are no verbs or adjectives attached to him.
>>715496150one way to avoid it is by just referring to kris by name always but that can lead to it feeling forced/unnatural/stilted
there is just no easy way around it outside of languages that have gender neutral terms, which is why toby will never officially translate to anything outside english and japanese
>>715496150well inanimate objects having genders is pretty standard in gendered languages, but I didn't realize the extent of it. it does make sense now that I know, I think despite my comparison of german, even other similar languages like spanish default to masculine for the unknown but I am guessing a bit there.
>>715495546Since when did OpenAi get its own country?
>>715496270thats just the referring pages section.
>>715496251from what I've read, japanese doesn't actively use pronouns as much though the language does have them, its more common to invoke name when referring to someone even if they are right there. It would probably be weirder in other language since thats not the social norma but words like "you" in japanese don't seem to get used in polite conversation.
>>715495614I like to imagine this being the banned Moral Martlet PSA that wouldn't show on air. Undyne wrote the script (with help from Alphys) and then Asgore had to veto the thing when he saw the finished product. It was terrible for Martlet too, it took her weeks to get all that liquid marshmallow out of her feathers. At least the effects guys made good money though.
>>715496251not to mention how bad the code is, all dialogue is hard coded and adding a new language would be too much work, that's why translations for UT/DR usually replace the language instead of adding it
I've seen a screenshot of the code where if first sets the english array, then if language is japanese, dump it and reset
I though toby getting a team was supposed to make the game better but the coding is still as bad, unless that's just how gamemaker is
>>715496270thats the referral page, its where people that landed on the DRY page came from
its also what tcrf is (was?) using to ban all ips that come from 4chan/kiwifarms, as long as you dont click a link there from here you should be fine
>>715496253>even other similar languages like spanish default to masculine for the unknownYeah, it pretty much is the same in Russian.

Reading the "prequel fic" Birds of a Feather is optional, and I have since moved on from some of the concepts in it. It was my first work for these threads and something of a practice run for the longform story of the same concept, but I like to think it holds up well.

>>715496605>that's why translations for UT/DR usually replace the language instead of adding itFun fact - one Russian translation team replaces both languages in their translations. They use the language switch functionality to provide two versions of the translation, one with localized names and other with transliterated ones (there are some retards who believe that proper nouns should not be ever translated no matter what and always throw a hissy fit when they see localized names).

>>715496851It's the same as Partners, basically. Just limited to the Zenith fight, where Martlet's partial memory gives her a lot more staying power and more interesting things to say.
>>715501545That's exactly who I had in mind. Anyways he can still be muscular with a skinny build. He could have a Bruce Lee build. I see him as being on the skinny and lanky side because Chujin is skinny and lanky. I imagine if he is big, his bigness is probably in vertical rather than horizontal. Since that seems to be the difference between the Ketsukanes and Dreemurrs. One is fridge shaped, the other phone pole shaped.

I think the reason why most fans are against Ceroba finding new love is because theyโre projecting their anger from Torielโs relationships
But if you look at them, Toriel/Asgore and Ceroba/Chujin arenโt really comparable to begin with. Toriel leaving Asgore has always been considered less justifiable anyways. I wouldnโt see it the same way if Ceroba left Chujin.
The main problem is that Asgore and Chujin are fundamentally different characters. Asgore is portrayed as a soft guy whoโs forced to make tough decisions, even if he doesnโt want to. Itโs reasonably unfair when Toriel treats him harshly. If Chujin were king heโd probably be experimenting on kids for fun
Itโs not like this sentiment didnโt exist before, but I noticed it became much more frequent after the release of chapter 4.
Or maybe it has been one poster idk
>>715508532I think the reason why is because everyone on the planet wants to selfship with her.
Which is fair, honestly.
>>715508532>against Ceroba finding new love is because theyโre projecting their anger from Torielโs relationshipsI wouldn't say against. I think that Ceroba herself isn't capable of moving on after all that's happened.
>>715508532Think of Ceroba as a female Asgore. It is pointless to bring Chujin himself into this argument, she was oblivious to any of his flaws when he was alive, and when he died, that idealized image of his in her head only got stronger. Oneitis does not affects men exclusively.
