That's the way I played it. It was literally unplayable before and without an Anon randomly telling me to activate OC clock speeds and extra L2 cash I probably would have never finished that beautiful game.

'Stretched' is wrong. It's the same ratio and resolution, but a bigger display, which means the pixels are bigger and so it will look more pixellated.
As to whether you will notice it depends on how close you hold the screen to your face, a bigger screen will obviously be more readable at a further distance.

Picked up an original 2DS for like $20 from a local game store, hacked it, and now I've been just kinda loading it up with 3DS games and a physical cart of Meteos. I think the game I might focus on will end up being Monster Hunter Stories 1, since I loved 2 on PC.
Other notable games I picked up are the Luigi's Mansion port, MH Generations, Ever Oasis and a bunch of other shit. I want to get Ultra Moon on there, but I think something's up with USUM because apparently even the legit copies are getting some weird Momiji error.

That said, maaannnn I knew the 2DS was a stupid form factor and it looked like shit, and having it in my hands completely confirms it, it's an abomination and it's no surprise they dropped that shit to make one (1) more 2DS that went back to being a clamshell.
I mainly play shit on my 406H, the only reason (outside of the price) that I got this 2DS was because dual screen games on a single screen handheld is just kinda ass, but if I ever get sick of this thing there's a 50/50 chance of me just giving it to my nephew after removing the good SD card I've got in it.

Which means spending $60-100 for a donor I will never use. This isn't the main issue though, the main issue is trying to get a USA Black Friday Edition N3DS. If you region change a 3DS at all it breaks the DS and DSi modes in addition to completely breaking the NNID aspects if it has ever touched the eShop at all prior to being region changed. The problem is that so many people are selling N3DSes from Japan region changed to US on eBay and it's impossible to know because they advertise them as US version systems sometimes which is really frustrating. Then there's the assholes who pre-hack the system to sell it on the basis that it's already hacked so I can't even rely on it being a safe purchase.

There's some way to make it so a region-changed version accesses your local eShop but it requires you to do a hell of a lot of complicated steps or directly contact people on Discord who you're essentially trusting with the equivalent of your 3DS' SSN to swap your system to gain access.

I've basically been stalking Facebook Marketplace and eBay and the lowest I've seen legitimate ones seems to be about $350 and it still looks sketchy at best. I really wish these damn things weren't limited releases

I'm in the US. It's the only base version N3DS released here. N3DS XLs and 2DS XLs were released plentifully here but for some insane reason they only released the N3DS in a single year on Black Friday. There were a decent amount of copies released but actually trying to get one even a year after release was like pulling teeth, and the further away we get from then the harder it is to find one that hasn't been hacked by someone or is just a region changed JP version that won't work for certain things you might want.

If I just wanted to play 3DS games and only 3DS games with nothing else I'd just grab a JP version and hack it, but because I want a working Pokemon Bank and to system transfer so I can actually use my NNID for the few uses it still has I'm stuck with this garbage situation. Worst comes to worst I have to settle for an XL but I'm really trying to avoid that, and I actually want the 3D capabilities so a 2DS XL is off the table entirely.

Have you played Ni no Kuni 1? YW1 basically has the same issues with capturing Yokai but turned up to 11 to the point that some of the rarer stuff cane take over a dozen hours to be recruited while using the most expensive items and running around with a recruiting Yokai. Combat plays itself outside of the Onis and postgame content. You are better off playing the Switch/PS4 remake as it addressed quite a few of the bad aspects of it.

YW2 throws YW1 out with the bathwater and treats it as a mulligan. It fixes a lot of issues YW1 had (Though not completely), reintroduces the entire world and characters as if YW1 never happened, and in general is just better over all. At this point just play Psychic Specters instead of Bony Spirits or Fleshy Souls.

YW3 is an enormous improvement in every single way over YW1 and YW2 it's insane. Pretty much every major issue they had was addressed, the combat system was fully reworked, capturing isn't such a hassle anymore, and it's just an all around improvement.

Busters (Localized as Blasters) is a solid side series. It's based off of a minigame in 2 I believe it was but greatly expanded.

The Switch games are all pretty much solid across the board and try their own things for the most part. All of them have translation patches and Holy Horror Mansion (Essentially a spiritual successor/remake sort of thing) should be coming out soon.

Honestly I wish TwilightMenu looked more like the actual system menus. Its kinda lame it impresses so much of its own art style onto things, but its a fantastic front end for DS GBA and SNES

Been playing EX Troopers lately. The fan translation is really bad but in a funny way where I can still get the gist and know what I'm doing despite all the dialogue being nonsense. Gameplay is genuinely really solid, the balance between your two weapons and melee while dodging and moving in and out of range feels great when you're doing it and the camera is very workable. Shame it flopped but hey I don't think anything was going to save Lost Planet after 3.

Just did the mech gameplay tutorial while taking a shit, it's just different enough to be novel but close enough to the main gameplay to not feel like a gimmick. I hope I get to pilot a PTX-40A but I'm doubtful.

Nintendo tried fixing this by making a filter that automatically applies when playing DS games, but it looks worse than playing on original hardware. Because I have zero clue if the system was banned from them doing something prior like cheating. Many of the people with hacked systems are also selling them while showing them offline/in airplane mode or only doing Streetpass instead of actually connected to the wi-fi which makes it even harder to figure out if the thing can even connect.

The ban isn't something I'm concerned about as much as the region changing because they could easily make a $200 profit on buying a $100 N3DS from Japan and just region changing it and have every reason to lie about it. eBay would probably back me up on this even if it's a somewhat involved issue to explain, but at the same time it's such a hassle and 2ish weeks of time returning the thing if it does end up being bad.

Point being that it's a lot harder to sort this out than it used to be, and the prices are sky high so any issues are a hassle I don't want to have to deal with. You're right that it's likely I just get a scuffed up $300 system I can just wipe, but then a hacked system also comes with the issue that I can't really back up the SysNAND prior to Luma and B9S being installed on it if I actually have to revert the system or fix something, and reverting it back to normal comes with its own whole host of issues.

BootNTR can crash on the extended memory games like Pokemon if you want to take screenshots, many games run significantly worse on O3DS than on a hacked N3DS especially after its release, extended memory games (Not even N3DS games) take longer to load and are generally slower on O3DS which included Pokemon, you can't go to the home menu without quitting out of an extended memory game on an O3DS, you're locked out of SNES VCs if that interests you, I believe GBA injects had performance issues that are cleared by a N3DS, and in general the UI is far quicker and snappier on a N3DS.

Played all the 3DS mons except Ultra Sun/Moon. The only one I thought was maybe on par with the GBA-DS games was ORAS, but that's due to the game being a remake of a much more fundamentally better game than the XY and Sun/Moon ones. Based take on Zero G turns, they really messed with the balance even if the visuals were slick. Still, I’ll take it over half-baked Assault clones. Just recently got metroid return of samus going, it's a full fledged remake of metroid 2 in 2.5D(3d side scrolling platformer)

All the pokemo,, platinum is fucking kino btw, it was the last classic pokemon game ever made bar the HG/SS remakes, B/W officially marks the beginning of the shift to modern when TMs became reusable(seems small, but it's a big deal) and gems.

There's lots to be done with ports, super mario 64 port is cool, huge pain in the ass though to install, the creator doesn't want to release pirated content, so instead it's distributed as a complicated patching process that you need to use linux for(they have a guide to do this via windows with some kind of linux shell, i did it in maybe two days i think, wasn't too hard)

If you mever played ocarina of time, do it. It's the highest rated game of all time, and the remake is highly faithful, mainly only differing in glitches, and the ability to very intentionally crawl into a thing and get hints, the original game was from a less progress oriented time for gamers, we just ran around and did the same stuff untill we realised we could jump into something that suddenly made sense as the thing Navi had been giving us hints to for the last month. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent just jumping roof tops in kariko village.

Ff5 is a solid entry and has a GBA port.

There's a few fan made ports or game inspired games like the GTA3 port, diablo 1 port, and the halo remade in quake game

Doom. It's doom, it's the thing people run on everything just because they can.

There's blood, a doom clone, more gore, but doom esque graphics so its more just edgy.

There are a few channels on YT that just provide list/run down videos for great or obscure or underrated etc etc etc ds/3ds/gba games, kind of slop, but it beats using the wiki list of every game on each system to try to filter shit you wanna play.

Tge Hshop download for SM64 runs like shit, i have the OG 3ds though and the oneni complied with the instructions in the project discord(not perfect instructions, but just ask for help if you're interested) runs perfectly, it has 3d, but not the minimap set up on the lower screen, that just has the C buttons.

Metroid samus returns was fun for a bit, i did fall off on it though, and it probably survives for me off nostalgia to OG metroid 2 on my old GBC.

I've been playing Devil Survivor 1 overclocked. fun game so far, just unlocked auto-skills so Atsuru can finally not be completely worthless with one skill that misses half the time, but having only 3 units to move around so far feels kind of bad. Managed to snag a flame red 3DS from some shady looking dude for like 80 bucks last year. His home looked like a den of some sort but I made it out alive. Weirdly enough, it's in Japanese but it came with some copies of Monster Hunter.

Next, my brother gave me his black 3DS XL. It errors out as soon as it goes online, though.

Then I found a blue OG 3DS in a paper bag in my closet last year. NO CLUE who it belonged to, but apparently it has been there for years. A little layer of dust had been on it but it worked after a battery swap.

LASTLY my other brother bought his kid a 2DS last year and some games from a garage sale but my nephew touched it once and forgot about it so my bro just gave it to me.
