Might be worth waiting, eventually the preoder DLC characters will get added to the base game for everyone. The difficulty is actually refreshing, though, at least compared to VTX30. Terrain is actually useful and if you're playing on Hard or above you have to actually pay attention, since you can't use other people's spirits to keep an overextended unit alive.

It would probably be a fine place to start The tutorial seems pretty robust compared to most other games in the series, and the level order is sort of open? You have a designated "first" and "last" mission of most chapters but in between you can kind of pick and choose the order.

If you're interested in any of these series (other than a few that got shafted on plot) then it's not a bad place to start. Probably the best starting point out of the officially translated stuff, at least. Here's the series list if any interest you. A bunch are post-plot, though.

If you want a diablo ARPG, Grim Dawn is a good choice but slow in the beginning. I like it a lot since it doesn't really try to bullshit you and it's pretty easy to get into but can get pretty challenging in the end-game runs.
Another expansion is in development despite the game being almost 10 years old now.

I can't complain at all really. I'm not broke, I'm doing an EE PhD research project that I love (if a bit involved) and I have enough time to dedicate to my hobbies and the weather's nice. Life is pretty good for the most part. I just wish I was somewhere where I could meet people more on my wavelength.

I don't know if it's just me, but people seem a lot lamer nowadays. Like everyone is a lot more miquetoast and unwilling to be themselves and engage in a true conversation. I'm certain this wasn't the case even a decade or decade and a half ago .

Outside of what are essentially business transactions and the occasional circumstantial relationship formed due to similar interests, it's not worth going out to find people to talk to and forcing yourself to like them.

Mainly the co op trainer and SSSiyan's Collaborative Cheat Trainer along with an aggression mod to make the enemies a bit more speedy. Also outfit/hair mods and Yamato/Dark slayer for Dante. Now if there was only mods to mod in the other enemies from 1,3, and 4 into the game or give Dante quick silver and doppelganger. Guess I'll have to wait for the DMC 3 crimson mod to be fully completed. Really wish Capcom would make a DMC 1 special edition(not a remake a special edition).

Taking it slow to learn about the world and encounter new shit without people rushing you or fucking around in the background feels the best way. Although one weeping angel style monster does work better in multiplayer, since it hunts one person at a time and only its victim can perceive it
