It's gonna depend on the career, some need to do optional G-1s just to level up their unique. You don't want to spam them every time they're available, but doing a few here and there when your training options are lackluster is not a bad idea when you know you're gonna need that SP if you happen to be falling short regularly. You get 12 stats from a G-1 so it's not entirely a net loss stat wise.

I've seen some trainers use a MLB Kiryuin since she gives you a whole lot of skill points, but generally, you’d go for specific skills based on the track of the next Champions Meeting. Having a large variety of skills is good for team trial Umas though, since you get more points the more skills you proc. Doing a G1 race when there are no rainbows and your energy is very high is always worth it.

You know, it really does suck that they never gave Rice Shower a bride alt, seeing how her name comes from a wedding tradition and she likes weddings and all.

Before she released I didn't really understand what was so special about Seiun Sky's unique skill compared to other acceleration uniques, but after playing a couple careers and seeing it in action... I get it now.
Every time she got to proc it as early as possible, it was basically a guaranteed win by 5+ lengths. Any time she wasn't able to proc it, however, she jobbed hard. Talk about feast or famine.

So to make groundwork you need to activate 3 skills in the beginning of the race, concentration/focus is a given but what are the other 2 typically used?

Green skills are generally pretty cheap compared to other skills though, and often discounted due to how common they are. You only need one to go off, a firm conditons at max discount is like 55 skill points. It's great value for what you're getting (+40 in the designated stat). It's recommended to just grab one each as that's the best bang for your buck. It's front runner Haru, and the long and short of it is that Front Runners set the "pace" of the match, and since Haru is incredibly slow on anything that isnt a dirt track, plus she's not a long racer, she slows down the pace of the match and this fucks up Taishin's stronger version of Straightaway Spurt which has some sort of distance check to it that makes it inconsistent.

Releasing the game as it released in japan with the exact same versions but with only the text changing means they can reduce the amount of bugs/errors, meaning smoother rollout.
