There isn't even that much of a difference in performance between the Deck and the more expensive handhelds. The Ally X, which is as of now the most powerful handheld, only outperforms the Deck by about 20% at most in the scenario that you unlock the TDP(which essentially means, using them plugged in). In normal use scenarios of 15-20W the Deck will be as close as 5-10% of the AllyX's performace with the same settings, and will often outperform it at the lower range of wattage. All these handhelds are extremely power constrained.

As far as I'm aware the Ally doesn't have a commensurably larger battery to where it offers the same battery life at 20W as the Steam Deck does at 15W. Then again there's multiple Ally models and multiple Deck models, so maybe there's some permutation where this comparison makes sense. As far as I know though, all these handhelds have pitiful battery life, and the Deck OLED is the only one that can kind of hang on for a while at low TDP

I get that /v/ is not one person but it is pretty jarring how for years this board would throw a temper tantrum whenever DLSS upscaling and framegen was alluded to in the context of PCs "proper", and on the other Deckfags will gladly rely on FSR framegen and lossless scaling in order to run games. Personally I've never tried LS but DLSS is good enough that I do all my gaming on a laptop these days, you can get even the most demanding games upscaled to 1440p while preserving the settings, you don't even have to turn off ray tracing and you'll still get well north of 60fps

I used 2x framegen on a couple games(Space Marine, Alan Wake 2) and I had no problem with it. I beat them both on the hardest difficulty and couldn't perceive any latency whatsoever. Then again the animation for a player action in those games can be near a second long, so you wouldn't notice a few extra frames of delay. I think the framegen latency would only really be perceptible in games that require player reactions faster than 200ms, stuff like fighting games and twitchy shooters, but those kinds of games are almost always very lightweight by design.

That's not what's happening at all.
Outlaws uses FSR on Deck already (which is better than Lossless at upscaling, btw). That video is a perfectly fair comparison between Deck and Switch 2 which uses DLSS.
What that anon wants is to add the fake frame generation part of Lossless on top so Deck doesn't run at 10 FPS.

The underwhelming technology of the Switch 1 was saved on release by having decent new games and next gen ports of Wii U games (which no one had played on that piece of crap) whereas the Switch 2 is following one of the most successful consoles ever made which completely saturated the market, and it has failed completely to improve upon the switch in a meaningful way. It's going to take some big announcements by Christmas to get the Switch 2 back in the game. It's lucky for Nintendo that the PS5 and whatever Xbox is out at the moment are such utter failures that Nintendo can be safe in their mediocrity for now.

It wouldn't. Colosseum didn't save the GameCube, or even sell all that well. Especially considering how hard Pokémon dominated the GBA that gen.
Not to mention there was no studio for it. Genius Sonority barely managed to release Battle Revolution years earlier, an incredibly stripped down game that was still using assets from Stadium on the N64, and that was before their workforce declined. Nintendo themselves were struggling to support the Wii U and released some of the worst fucking slop in their history on the thing. Bamco made Pokken which was neat and did well but didn't save the system.
And the biggest reason, the handheld games were now 3D, rendering a home console game pointless, despite whatever fanfiction people delude themselves into thinking a hypothetical Wii U game COULD be, in reality it would suck. Even the GameCube games were vastly inferior to RSE and only coasted off the "WOW 3D" factor and double battle focus, which was and still is cool but not a system selling concept.

The real fuck up was no real Animal Crossing. Miiverse Plaza? Amiibo Festival? Then again it probably would have been atrocious too considering how NH turned out.
