As lash you need to understand your 3 the wipping is your early to mid dmg tool. Your need spirit power asap and quicksilver reload is a good early. You're also able to easily roam to kill monsters. The key to understanding how to play is to always be doing Something. You can help out your team in a fight (though if you're not good that may not be the best use of your time), push up lanes (which is not only the fastest way to level up but delays the enemy's ability to attack your objectives), damage objectives yourself or, more advanced and you might fuck it up, run down individual players that you can easily 1v1 due to you having more souls.

Just remember that running around the map without a goal accomplishes nothing for you or your team, and being dead accomplishes nothing as well, although dying to make progress CAN be well worth it. If you're doing Something as often as possible you will be helping your team in low ranks. Also remember K:D isn't a direct measurement of how useful you are, objective damage is just as important as well as playing defense even when it doesn't bring your numbers directly up, so you can be a team player even if you're an aimlet (though if you are an aimlet please don't pick an aim-heavy character like Vyper, there are a lot of heroes where you can just spam skills to do most of your damage)

Roam means leaving the lane you are in to go elsewhere. Usually in the place between the lanes called the jungle, here you kill neutral monsters (the ones with the single eye) to gain money.

A good itemization early is extra regen the mystic burst then enchanter emblem then quicksilver reload. If you struggle with early farming monster round can be good. Maybe play dynamo or mcginnis first they are less about using the movement system like lash.

It's a very gun heavy patch overall and Suppressor is just very cheap. On top of that slower attack speed will make all your other anti gun stuff scale. Suppressor + Plated armor shuts down a Haze and Infernus team really well. Juggernaut is also really good for the same reason especially because if they buy Ricochet they can't help but get debuffed even if you weren't their target.

I think it's the second one. I actually can't remember exactly how it works in all situations but I know after testing tons of shit myself and reading what other people tested and concluded it boils down to this: Plated Armor is a bad defensive item against gun characters unless they have multiple characters with good on-hit effects, like Haze and Infernus. They more characters like that they have, the better it gets. With even just those 2 it becomes one of the best defensive items against gun characters late game. Mina and Mirage are other big ones and to a lesser extent characters like Vyper and Wraith when they're buying on-hit gun items. People say Seven too because technically his lightning jump is on-hit but he has to shoot you and not your teammate so I find it's not a good counter for him.

Ironically Doorman is probably the closest to a 'shoot the coin' mechanic the game currently has with shooting the bell. I think the only way you could make something like shooting a coin to hit people around corners 'fair' (read: still really fucking miserable) would be for it to only work on people that were marked somehow, like fixation if you wanted it horrible or Drifter's 2 for less miserable. So something like toss a coin, if there's no marked target it just does a downward aoe, if there is and it has line of sight it pegs them with full damage.

I don't know what is causing it but my Grapple sometimes gets interrupted when I use it while taking damage facing an opponent close by so that the sound plays and I move less than a single jump height off the ground but then drop down without the ability going on cooldown. I usually die afterwards because I missed my escape/repositioning opportunity.
Happened with Majestic Leap as well. The sound played but I got shot while Lash's feet just left the ground and I essentially got rolled back to my previous position with the item not going on cooldown immediately before I got shot again after which it did and I died.
