you can still use ryan if she's a good parent or you can reliably get her skill for cheap but i don't think pump will be as relevant as it was in cancer since you get easier access to better acceleration skills, OYL was on a guts grass wonder and NSM was on yukino bijin, now you get a free NSM at the end of every unity run, and OYL is on a pretty good Wit Card.
Pump is a 180 point skill that gives 0.2 acceleration with a tiny trigger area and hard conditions
in comparison nimble navigator (white NSM) is 150 points gives the same acceleration and lane movement which is also buffed

After 22 runs I hit a new high score of 1179 speed in Unity, with sub-800 power and barely 600 stamina. Admittedly I could've capped speed if I trained it one more time but then my power would've been even worse.

Not an of those anons, but turf S was useful in Cancer due to the final straightaway being shorter, meaning less time to accelerate to your max speed.

If you can't even hit your max speed before the finish line, you have an acceleration problem. Turf S allows you to hit your max speed faster, allowing you to actually utilize that speed to hold your lead or get ahead of others.

Now, i'll provide you an alternative. And surely you wont disagree with this: Max Speed AND Max Power, then settle with mile S. I made a Grass like this for Cancer and she was destroying everyone. No Turf S, but she had so much damn power she accelerated fast anyways. Pumping Iron helped her a lot.

But it's the same reason people want acceleration skills. Acceleration is good, it's important. Anything not a front relies on it to get to their max speed at the end. Ideally, you'd want both.

But in this race, if your power is shit, and you have max speed, it's not gonna help you very much. So if you're not gonna go for Turf S ( and I dont blame you), you need to go for as much power as umanly possible. You want both speed and power maxed.

i don't think there is a thing i can single out, it's just the combination of regular support friendship levels, special training and spirit bursts all being random added on top of having to get decent stats for your races and the hints you're looking for
if i focus too much on the special trainings i end up with stats all over the place but focus too little and my team gets steam rolled, it doesn't help that auto select is terrible and i have to manually check and assign team member
URA had a ton of RNG too but i feel it was much more manageable, if you get unlucky with the team members you're given or if they decide not to show up on where you need them it ends up hurting the entire run, especially early on where you often only have one sprinter or dirt

For speed you have to rely on double/triple rainbows just like URA, so you either go with cards with high specialty priority like MLB Kita or high gamble cards like Brian.
You can't rely too much on balls because they are too random and you actually need to pop them to level up your team. The only stat I skip is guts and maybe stamina if it looks like it will get over 600 at the end.

In my experience it's not one or the other, it's both you need to rely on. You really shouldn't be popping balls anywhere other than Speed, Power, maybe stamina, but definitely not wit as it gives you the worst stat returns there and it's piss easy to build wit without balls exploding there. You just got to pop them as soon as they're in speed or power, but you also need to do the rainbows when that makes sense. It's juggling act, still prone to being fucked by RNG, but it's possible to get max speed with say two speed cards, so long as they're really good speed cards.

Early is more balancing the arrows with friendship, whatever gives me the biggest overall gain. So I'd go 2 friendship with 2 white arrows over 3 friends, Wit training prioritized over others if all other situations are equal to keep energy up. Around the middle I have no idea what to do, the arrows murder my energy and I have to rest way too often, Riko doesn't heal enough or doesn't show up on the training with lots of arrows if it even appears. Most of the time I only get 1-2 arrows per training around the middle anyways so I only get to pop 3-4 nukes max, that's on top of the fact that I need to race Japan Cup and possibly Arima Kinen for the skill points and ult upgrades from fans. Then senior year happens and there's god damn arrows everywhere and I have to build everything up so I can actually pop that shit before November.

Is it just me or does Unity actually reduce how often you see hints from your supports by overriding them with unity buff-ups? It's not just hiding them at a glance, I'm hunting for ogurin's groundwork but I'm seeing at max 3 ogurin hints on my runs so far.

Summer Maru will still be good if she doesnt get blocked. Late surgers will still be good if THEY dont get blocked. Smart Falcon will still be good because she's da GOAT on these types of tracks, but Smaru can now do what she did but later in the race which makes her strong too. And then Suzuka will supposedly block them all but idk about actually win the race.

I'm building a Condor Paizuri myself. Built in Furious Feat, running Wit Nature to get On Your Left. And her unique seems pretty good. I think she'll do well

It's a lot more min-max heavy in my opinion, URA is really click rainbows for the most part. In this scenario there's a lot more considerations to invest in the future via bursts where you might take a suboptimal training to invest in a better future one, I sometimes burst on wit because another trainee will be ready to burst afterwards. So it'll depend on what you find fun in the game really, just for running stories URA is probably better.

1. A lot of people don't have Suzuka and she's the only one who can do the runaway strat right now.
2. Even if they do have her, nobody really knows how to build her right now and this shit is right around the corner. Building fronts is hard. They wont have time to make any other strong aces if they go all in on some meme blocker.

I think I got a feel for the differences between both scenarios:

URA

>easiest to second screen since most elements are predictable and options are visible at a glance
>external skill sources beyond supports are the random guests and g1 races

Unity
>all rounder runs - trainings level up with your team levels
>you need to pay attention, easily adds another 20 minutes for an optimal-ish run
>easy farming runs since you're almost guaranteed 600 minimum for big 3 stats
>lots of external skill sources outside supports including ones not available yet on cards
>support hints are obscured at a glance if there are also unity balloons on the same training and possibly being overrided if they pass the roll on unity buffing

On your left is just a weaker version of Furious Feat. If you have to pick one or the other, go with Feat. But having both is nice too, but not necessarily mandatory. My Grass did quite well with only On Your Left (and pumping iron which seemed even more important) before, but just had crazy good stats in tandem + Mile S and near maxed out speed and power.
