Scrappy Doo actually help boost the ratings of Scooby-Doo for a while but when they started benching characters like Velma and Daphne for him that's when people started hating him and then James Gunn's movie nuked the character from orbit and he was never able to recover.

Silver is more Cousin Oliver, a new young character created to bring in ratings but everybody hated him and soon the series died after he was introduced and he holds the blame for it.

The plots of SA1 and SA2 go into Knuckles' loneliness and how maybe he should open up more. His character in general has some trust issues that show most when he's with Sonic and how easily for awhile he was able to believe Sonic was against him several times. Chaos and Tikal moving on from the Master Emerald is kind of important too. I don't think the Master Emerald should be entirely forgotten, but it getting sidelined makes a lot of sense and I'm fine with Knuckles going on adventures with Sonic, Tails, and Amy without as much worry knowing now they really have his back when things go wrong. At the end of the day, Knuckles can still go back home to Angel Island.
