Yes so gungho essentially brought the same voice actors that were brought to cold steel. The problem is these were minor roles with less dialogue and some of them were only casted because they did battle voices for Sky games which isn’t a good metric for deciding if they would be good for voicing actual plot. Basically this English cast did not get proper auditioning or casting they were only nostalgia picks. There was no proper cast or audition that took place.

In CSIII you visit new and fresh locations, some for the first time in the new engine, some for the first time in general. How much character development and characterization is in Kai on the other hand? CSIII is slow, yes, but it's methodically character driven. It's like watching someone in struggling in a quicksand pit. It's very clear the writers and artists have no ambition for this arc, but Kondom mandated them to keep on going with the arc because they have to stretch Kiseki as much as possible and since they made all the assets in Kuro 1 they are now forced to use them for at least 4 games. This is overall Falcom's strategy: make the assets and areas in the first entry and the reuse them for 3-4 games. That's what they will also do with the Sky remakes. However in Calvard's case it's very evident that the ideas they had for the arc were not enough to fill 4 games. And the writers don't know either what to do, so they are just mindlessly trudging through this shit without any light at the end of the tunnel. Kai is the best example of this.
