The movie's good; obviously not perfect, but with the benefit of seeing how they adapted Cingrey I think they're starting to get the format down right.
I definitely think that they could still take it farther with introducing meaningful flaws to the characters, and with trying to weave the events around a solid theme.

Hopefully this franchise's success will allow for future attempts to be given more creative freedom in that regard.

You just focus on building a good uma for that distance.
The ones in the roadmap are all 1200m Sprinter races, so you'll need Sprinters that aren't Bakushin, Taiki, or Kingu to race against them.
Bakushin and Taiki are to have both set up, but you can't race the same uma against the Legend Race uma, so you'll need multiple set up if your sprinters are any of the ones featured.

Yeah I would focus on the Special Week level and dupes if you can get them all before the event ends having that 50 on your team will be good for a while. Your super rares are pretty good too, if you don't have SC or FM it may get harsh if you have to borrow them every time, but as you can see here, some people are pushing just fine with lower level builds. Just make sure to focus on what you need + using your races, rests, and summers as best you can.
