Then you walk through church and everyone begins to notice you're there, turning to glare at you or stand with their mouth agape. can someone explain to me what kind of game is Undertale? I had this game for the longest time because my ex gifted it to me but I never bothered to play it but as years went on, I realized this game is pretty damn popular.

whenever I look it up online, it just look like an RPG game. what's so good about it?

It's a turn based RPG where during your turn you can either attack or use the act system, basically a dialogue tree, to convince the enemy to not want to fight anymore, and then during enemy turn it becomes a bullet hell type game where you have to dodge the enemy's attacks
It's good because it's fun, very funny and has a bunch of loveable characters and a great soundtrack
Deltarune is a game explicitly for "people who played Undertale" and playing it first seems to be canon to the plot of Deltarune

I feel like I'm a weird moderate for Kris vs Soul. I like both and empathise with both, and I think both are good people. I really fucking hate the redditors who pretend like the very act of playing the game is some sort of Spec Ops: The Line crime because Soul is evil (that's only true if you are a Snowgrave loser). On the other hand people who try to assert that Kris is Chara or equivalently evil also don't have me too convinced - Kris seems like he was a problem child, but ultimately has a good heart (everything about Sword Path seems to scream this, from them looking away from killing the party to saving Susie from "hero").

I think it's guaranteed he's from deltarune. With Susie bleeding it's safe to assume most DR monsters can bleed. All those lines the the MTT resort about empathizing about wanting to go back. The Asrial fight lost soul text as well as some of his geno fight text making way more sense if you use DR as context for some of those lines.

Lately I've come to realize that these threads (no, maybe both these threads and porn artists in general) have made me absolutely HATE Kris x Susie. Before, I could just ignore it and everything was fine. I agree with you about anyone taking a hard reading about the Soul being evil. I saw a tweet point out pretty astutely that if you choose not to continue the game after a fail, Gaster says "then the world fell into darkness" or something like that. So the player and Gaster need to do whatever they're up to for the Deltateens to even have a future.
Maybe people who are hard about the "Soul is evil" idea are people who are "all routes are canon" maximizers like people who say Genocide is the canon end to Undertale. I've never been a fan of that way of thinking.
That said, if we suspend disbelief and say the Light World is totally real, then there's definitely some potential for us as the soul to "act unethically" even without Snowgrave, but it's also something where the circumstances are so extraordinary and unique that you really just need to give the player a lot of leeway for "ethical mistakes" they might arguably make. Like the movie Groundhog Day or something. Just try to get through it and save the Deltateens and we can forgive any issues. That's my take.
