Made some progress with the mapping of the remaining missions. Terrain is mostly done. Added these crystals to the game, they do nothing, but one mission objective will be to find and destroy all 3 or 5 crystals on the map before being overrun.

Threadly reminder that even gamedev success can be a trap.
Imagine your game earns you 10 years of income. Would you quit your job and start making games full time? If so, you'd have fallen into the same trap I did.
The crux of the trap is the time you spend as a gamedev will count against you if ever need to get a job again. And the ironic thing is the more successful you are, the more dangerous the trap will be unless you earn enough money to never need a job again.
The only way full-time gamedev would be sustainable is if your games keep earning at least a year of expenses for every year worked... until you're literally 75. And I do mean literally. When you're 72, you'll need to sit down and make a game that earns you 3 years of expenses. Anything short of that and you'll eventually run out of money. And when you do, you'd have been 10-15-20 years out of the job market and good luck getting a job with that employment gap.
When you run out of money, it can take as little as a couple of months for your life to be ruined. That's what happened to me. I found myself broke at 45 and no job for the past 15 years except making games. And I'm looking at 30 more years of having to survive. I can't get job interviews, I can't afford to keep working on games, and I'm too old to get into trades. My life is probably fucked because my first project earned me 10 years of income and I quit my job like a dumb ass.
Anyway, the point of this is to warn you: DO NOT QUIT YOUR JOBS UNLESS YOU EARNED ENOUGH MONEY TO NEVER NEED A JOB AGAIN. If my warning saves even a couple of you, it's worth it.

Average return on an investment portfolio is said to be around 10%... before capital gains tax (10-20%) and inflation (2-5%). The real returns (again, before tax) are 5.2%. And you're not going to get your game earnings as a lump sum but over months or even years. Do the math.

people are seething at itch.io for delisting nsfw games but they basically have a gun to their head to do so, and i imagine they will remove them all in the future. according to itch's new guidelines even horror games like mouthwashing aren't allowed because of their themes.
the only way this stops is if the laws around payment processors change, and that can only be done in the US or EU. i don't see that happening any time soon, it may truly be over.

Refactored the entire level object definition structure, got rid of the union stuff that anon called retarded (it was, I agree now) and am now simply storing an enum (type) and void* for each object in the level definition. Also vehicle definitions are now saved as files on disk, in the future I will probably create a vehicle editor for editing these. This refactor now makes it possible to save a texture file path along each polygon definition so maybe tomorrow I can start working on polygon texture loading and mapping.
