If you're a fan of Monster Hunter (especially World), do not purchase this game. Horrendous PC performance and ugly art style aside, MH Wilds is a watered down mess of a game. The roster is unimpressive and features several "new" monsters which are just reskinned old monsters with a new mechanic tacked on that makes their fights even easier than the rest of the game. There's little to no difficulty to be found, with the only time I've ever 3 carted being a co-op hunt for Arch Tempered Rey Dau where we just around, then immediately killed him with zero carts the next attempt when we just wanted to get it over with. Title updates are lackluster and do nothing to fix the core issues of the game which is the nonexistent endgame and extraordinarily easy hunts.

Wounds make any fight a cakewalk where the monster spends more time on the ground than actually fighting you, and the only time they can even resemble a threat is with one-shot attacks that have become increasingly common as Capcom struggles to balance the game. Those one-shots aren't even fatal because you can just abuse the extremely generous perfect guard system to completely negate the damage. Throw on the Seikret being palamutes on crack in terms of utility, the near complete absence of status ailments, stun not being a factor 99% of the time, and sharpness effectively not existing, and you've got a Monster Hunter that sanded down everything that provided friction to make a soulless slop heap.

Not only is the game an absolute mess, but Capcom have also taken the liberty of piling on egregiously priced microtransactions in a game that has a $70 price tag ($6 for a handler skin which was $3 in World). World was the peak of the series to me, and I genuinely enjoyed Rise as a portable title, but Wilds falls so incredibly short of both of those that I'd prefer the series take a break for several years. It's clear that the team at Capcom don't understand what makes these games enjoyable
