The music trio just seems like Toby was putting in random shit as he went and never gave chapter 2 a second pass. The trio are The Resistance against Queens tyranny but no one in Cyber World knows them and there is no actual resistance movement until the last second of the Dark World.
Chapter 2 is sort of a mess because it jumps from Queen being some tyrant enslaving the cyber darkners by turning plugboys into werewires but then it becomes Berdlys under construction smart boy utopia and then the festival with a tunnel of love and ferris wheel and then some puzzle games and then a normal busy city thats filled with happy citizens and salesmen that have no complaints about Queen. Chapter 1 is much more consistent and coherent in showing how King madness has worsened the lives of Darkners in the card kingdoms.

Personally I'd say pirate it or play the demo just to try it out, there's a lot of content and mods for despite being early access. It's not as extensive as Elona+ but I actually enjoy playing Elin because the QoL is significantly better.

Typically there are two types of multiple endings:
Type 1: branches at the very end, no save points after the branching.
Type 2: branches at the beginning, independent "routes" that differ significantly that lead to different ends.
Sometimes "Type 2" contains multiple "Type 1"s.
This way, you can experience all the endings without any duplicate content.
Now, I know that sometimes there's a hidden variable that the game tracks through the entire gameplay that decide the final outcome, but typically it's very forgiving, so usually you won't get the ending that you don't want.
For Neutral Ending, it's a single death. Single. Fucking. Death. Then you're locked out of the happy ending. It can't be reversed. You can't make amends. You're screwed. It's not even it's own fucking route, it's just basically a "failed pacifist". (It's not even "one murder", nope, it's "one death", so you have to actively save monsters from dying.)
Only the deaths are treated that way, you can always backtrack and befriend monsters for "true" part of the true pacifist.
