It must be really hard being a Knuckles fan when you have to admit that Neo Metal in IDW did a better job of guarding the Master Emerald, him having to defend it from basically every major character aligned with Sonic, including Burning Blaze, all at the same time, Metal nearly won too, it was down to the wire.

You know if Rouge made a bet that she could do a better job and Knuckles took her up on that, she'd only fail in a situation where Knuckles would also fail, but the writing would make it seem like she's strictly worse than him at guarding it, even though she's no less powerful and has super hearing on top of that.

Take Amy for instance. The starting point of most of her ships is her giving up on Sonic because of some unseen reason. Why not focus on her inclination towards Sonic and weaponize that in favor of the ship? Or make that part of the humor? Why introduce a character trait that simply wasn't there? By my definition of a crackship, any and all ships involving Sonic characters are crackships, because romance is illegal by corporate mandate of Sega, which has the unintended side effect of making all ships equally invalid, Sonamy is legally no more possible than Vectilver. Sega saying no ship is okay has given everyone the go-ahead to ship as much as they want because we all know none of it will amount to anything in the long-term.
