This happens when people unlock a brand new high-BR vehicle or weapon (via an event or just tech tree) and put it in their army to test it; because of that one weapon/vehicle in one squad they are now BR5 despite all the rest of their stuff still being BR2 or 3.

I wouldn’t really recommend any Soviet premium squads. And you should be forewarned, the IS-2 ‘44 is just not that good. It has artificially reduced HE filler on the HE shell so it doesn’t decimate all infantry in a 50m radius. As a result it’s about as effective as the 88mm HE but with twice the reload time.
As for the grind time, with premium it’s probably like 100 matches to unlock the IS-2 ‘44. Don’t buy a year now because it’s half off every Christmas and VE Day

Wait for the sales if you can. As far as premium squads, the M3 Halftrack is good. Guerrillas are good too. In-game for gold, the paratroopers are good since you can fit them into any BR. I like the medics and the premium Yak is a satisfying tank popper if you like planes. The Fedorov MG is strong too. Premium squads with scoped semis like the radio and sniper squads I find work well for me.

Also depends if you want to progress a more natural balanced way through the BRs or just beeline straight towards the IS-2 (1944). It'll be tricky if you beeline strat because you'll have the IS-2 for one squad but have much lower BR gear for your other squads. Just get some BR2 or BR3 smgs since they're good and will still do work at BR5 and you can give them to your tankers.

If you are looking to spend money the new premium IS-1 would be unironically good for grinding the Soviet tree, but only with the understanding that it's weak to its German counterparts so you will die a lot, but there are two premium tanks you could cycle with it (34/85 & KV-2) to immediately have a piss easy grind down the Soviet tech tree with a paypig tank lineup. Again with the understanding that Soviet armor is generally just fodder for the German big cats so dying an excessive amount will be the norm

I am somewhat getting filtered by all the bullshit ways to die, iits much more hardcore than I was hoping for. the armor system is very basic but doesnt really make a huge difference and the human model TTK is almost as rapid as tarkov, but in an environment filled with traps and monsters with no real explanation about how to deal with any of them so its just trial and error, running away from some bullshit you dont have the ammo to deal with is a regular gameplay experience. the basic adversity of the PvE environment is going to filter a lot of people. dying a ton is offset by the gear simplicity and the replicator shitting out free equipment if its used enough. the gunplay gets much better once you are out of the starter garbage, and it makes me wish we had a krink equivalent in enlisted

I'd say that tank balance is pretty good for the Real Factions (not Japan lmao) from BRs I-III. Every nation has something that fills most niches. It only falls off a cliff at BR IV and V because the US doesn't have the T29 and the Soviets will never have anything worthwhile because 122mm cannons suck in War Thunder and Enlisted.

Exactly like Stalker/Stalcraft then. Shotguns deal bonus damage against mutants. Shotgun ammo is efficient against mutants. Use rifles against human players and NPCs. Otherwise you're going to be wasting mags just dumping them into monsters when a few shells of birdshot can take one out.

Other than that, the premium units are mostly cool alternatives to the TT. BR2 Germany is playing the game on bard mode. You'll never get easy games. Every game is a slog fest half of them are unwinnable. The GrB can kill the KV. The thing about BR III Germany is that you are basically just expected to spam the MG 13 unless you have their event and Gold items like the silenced EMP and MAS-38. The M38/42 is also fine, and the Beretta 1918 does well enough for DPS, but the latter requires some form of skill so it's more or less useless.

they screwed the pooch so hard with recoil perks in enlisted, the gunfighting in active matter is way more dynamic as the weapons arent laser beam O/THKs and have serious recoil

Soviet teams have always been terrible, except for very brief periods of sapience where they get flooded for a week or two. The Box PPSh nerf basically killed their main driving force for BR III, all they have is the KV and the KV can get face fucked by basically everything but BR I tanks now (since the Panzer IV E gets HEAT that can penetrate its turret). All that's really left is the most boring BR III faction with the least gear variety and the worst players.

BR V Soviets are somehow even worse to play because your teammates remain the same but the Wehraboos level up. Even with blatantly OP shit like the RD and Fedorov, you can't compete with enemies who actually know how to play, and your team entirely crumbles the moment a Tiger II shows up.

Might be your server or time playing, because my last 3 Soviet BR V matches were hellish. As in, my team basically did nothing but wander around and every match had at least 3-5 people quit after a little while. Federov and RD-44 aren't even that opressive when germans have MG42-100s to keep up alongside a WAY better tank, better jet and FGs are better than AVTs which are on every soldier unlike MGs and SMGs/ARs and soviet body armor no longer even provides a bonus on BR V in any meaningful way.

Because they are retarded werbs and anything thats not german doesn't exist in their eyes so they completely ignored the full clip reload italian sniper, the romanian bolt action with the same ROF as the winchester and the italian smgs that had a faster TTK with less dispersion and recoil than the uragan. They also have the OVP, FNAB and Obrez, MP40 in addition to the Berreta M1915 and have a straight upgrade of the Madsen with the MG13.

Its really just that germany has a shitload of retards that whine about anything good that other factions have.

The difference in gameplay between the AVT-20, T20 and FG is basically much of a muchness. The extra ROF on the FG can be considered a downgrade for some players, and it doesn't get a bayonet and has kinda funky sights. The only autorifles with any appreciable difference are the Fedorov 25, which has an ROF of 1100 on the dev server, and the Hei Auto for obvious reasons.

Most of it really comes down to how fucking bad Soviet teams are. The most horrifying part is that their teams do have humans, the humans are just pure brainlets. The decent players stopped playing Soviets because being fucked to death by stacks and Tigers doesn't make up for the fun and cool infantry gear. It's really fucking demoralising.

The difference in the past was that you could use it at any range by pointing at head height and unleashing 10 bullets a second for basically instant squad wipes. You can't do that now, but the ZK and Beretta can kinda do it. The PPSh lost its versatility at range and became worse at hipfiring to boot.
