Some interesting facts about the development of Halo Wars:

The Halo Wars demo, which looks completely different from the final version, was the original vision for the game but the heads at Ensemble Studios hated the idea of creating another RTS, so they left the small team that originally pitched the idea to Microsoft (and miraculously got green light) to develop the game and allocated most of the budget and staff that was supposed to be dedicated to Halo Wars to creating a MOBA, as the directors at Ensemble Studios believed such games were the future.

Microsoft later showed up at Ensemble headquarters expecting to see progress on Halo Wars, but instead found a disappointing MOBA.

The executives canceled the MOBA without even hearing Ensemble Studios' proposal and forced the studio to work on Halo Wars or face legal actions.

Unfortunately, after severe crunch, the original Halo Wars team grew tired of all the pressure and decided to leave the project to the rest of Ensemble. They decided to scrap everything from the original vision and start from zero.

Ensemble's founder Tony Goodman, Bungie felt Microsoft's decision to let Ensemble work on a Halo game was "the whoring out of our franchise."

Halo Wars then was finish in a few months instead of the 2 development years that Microsoft paid.

That's why they look different; they're two completely different games.

They truly became a superpower.

odst is really weird. the game wants to pretend your weaker than a spartan, but you throw grenades further, your melee pretty much does the same damage, red screen is annoying and just having a recharging health bar would have been better and pretty much does the same thing.

Flood got significantly less fun to fight because plasma weapons no longer do massive damage to them. Shotgun does no damage and feels stiff. Heretic Grunts are too OP vs friendly Elites because of needler spam. In CE the grunts have capped firerate to prevent this unless a whole cast is shooting needles at them.

MP balance in campaign means most of the weapons feel weak (minus the BR, of course).
AR also has the absolute worst and most pathetic sound effects in the series, even fucking 4 does a better job there.
Brute's aren't powerful enough to fulfill the role the elites left when they stopped being enemies.

I played the 4 missions currently available for Civil Unrest.
It has potential, but the 3rd person mod for Halo Reach is kinda shit. The weapons often don't shoot where you're aiming because of obstacles.
The gameplay is extremely trial and error. You're a made out of paper, but your enemies don't fare much better. Allies are powerful, but combat has so much RNG that encounters can go both ways if you don't get involved.
There are 4 armor abilities present, but only Dodge and Sprint are functional.
It's also one of the rare 3rd person mod that allows zooming.

The mod has BRs, the Halo CE AR (in addition to the Reach AR) and a Light Machine Gun.

Anyway I have a random question; I'm playing the Halo 3 campaign on MCC, the mission 'The Covenant' and I'm on the part where you get a hornet to fight the two scarabs. I swear I used to be able to land the hornet on one, destroy it, and fly away when I used to play Halo 3 on xbox but every time I try it on the MCC the scarab moving instantly destroys my hornet. If Halo Reach was reverted back to its launch settings balance, would it be good? Honestly can't remember. What I do remember was being thrilled that the DMR no longer had any bloom one day, but then they updated it to have bloom again. I was so disappointed when that happened because the DMR became fun to use without bloom. When they turned the bloom back on I think that's around the time I stopped playing. Always hated having to pace my shots, I'd rather the gun just have reduced rate of fire/nerfed damage.

It's satisfying to kill hunters with the pistol in ce. Ruby's rebalance proves he doesn't understand important things like that because the hunter fights are boring. You do the same thing as normal but there's more steps. Or you can just run around them like in the webms. Halo 2 fixed it with the overhead back swing attack but made them too resistant to melee damage.
