Same for metaphysics - doesn't know about solipsism and inward perception/tulpa, but can go for "imagine darkness but over 9000".
Neither serve anything more but a "cool thing I guess" to the story.

>>3777940 (OP)Can you spell ใกใใฝ or ใพใใ in the Japanese version?
>>3777940 (OP)Why did tenna only bring in 3 contestants anyways? Most tv shows that have contestants usually have like 12 or more contestants who slowly get eliminated in each round until only two finalists remain for the final round, seems like it would be pretty interesing too, with a lot of possible replayability value as you can choose who to team up in the team-based rounds like susie or ralsei or whatever, imagine hanging out with lancer or rouxls kaard or etc, all the character dynamics that couldve been... and ofc, choosing certain teammates could give you hints towards the chapter's schizoboss (if it wasnt the knight ofc), losing and having to walk out of the studio alone wouldnt necessarily mean you're missing out in lore and stuff either, as you could probably explore the outside areas on your own and probably get easier access to the secret boss (which you could still access even if you never lose, it would simply be more complicated), but basically you would still get battles and stuff, at some point, there could be like, "two bands can choose to bring someone who lost the contest back into their group and continue playing!", meaning you wont be separated from susie and ralsei forever, of course, there are still scripted losses for multiple characters, so its not like toby would have to go full neet trying to code and write over a bajillion alternative scenarios just for one chapter, but it would still be fun regardless
>>3787290If I had to guess, the Japanese version almost certainly uses Latin characters and not kana.

Here's all the Darkner information, Chapter 3+4 included: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF2olxoj8uU
We got some new elements, but I find it interesting the "magic" element is tied to the book Darkners since it implies you need a magic stat to even read - Kris's magic stat is ALWAYS 0 outside of equipment and he refuses to read for you outside of the library upper floors and the ralsei tutorial books to my knowledge, Susie starts with a magic stat of 1 which increases little over the chapters except when you win against Gerson she gains +4 to magic: while that helps with Rude Buster it might also mean her reading comprehension has increased too. Oh, and Ralsei and Noelle have the highest magic stats, and both characters are the book smart types.
Basically could be important, could be unimportant but the implication make for a good theorycraft
How would you react if this happened?
>>3788336Theres something curious about that, depending on what armors you give kris, you can get them to have -2 magic or 1 (maybe more) magic, which is weird, how is it that you can make kris more or less illiterate by wearing shit like the tennatie?

>>3788968>>3788972Dont forget tasque manager x miss mizzle, thats a good darkner ship
>>3789004Well take it from this schizophrenic long time fan, normal people playing a game and engaging with it tend to get attached to characters. That's what makes them characters, they're personable.
Now why do you think people get upset over animals getting harmed? They're innocent, and we're humans-- we shouldn't kill or hurt for no reason, especially if the animals are defenseless.
Certainly it's schizophrenia to say that pixels can feel pain. Yet, the pixels tell you in so many words, "I thought you're my friend! Why are you doing this?" They're confused-- programmed, yes-- but confused nonetheless. They're innocent too. Some of them are defenseless. Why wouldn't we apply the same treatment we'd give to animals, even insects, to something even less than either?
Do they deserve less than that? If we're given that complete and utter power, why would we choose to kill and hurt?
Is it, perhaps, because they're so personable? We do tend to get more upset over innocent creatures getting hurt after all.
Doesn't that make things a little more complicated then?
Anyway. Fuck you Vinny.

I understand. Never said I wasn't schizophrenic, you know. It's just a video game that people do actually shit their pants over because your choices and actions are not ignored. Some people just like to immerse themselves too. It's a shame, when reality is just as awful as they'd have it be in a video game.

Anon, maybe let's just stick to kaomoji
>>3789029>its just a videogame, nothing moreNTA but I don't see how this can't justify people not wanting to play. I don't want to bother with the Weird Route in Deltarune, and there's plenty of objective reasons to go for it. It's too grindy, it skips over all the fun dialogue, there's no payoff for it yet, the changes beyond chapter 2 feel too miniscule.
But the simpler reason is that I like Noelle and don't really care to do those things to her. It's just a video game, so why should I feel compelled to do things I don't want to do, you know?

When you go back to Kris's bathroom in Chapter 4 after church, Susie says there's no hard evidence that she drank Kris's shampoo.
If you try to stab Susie with Mini Kris, she admits that she drank it.
Does the dialog in the bathroom change if you try to stab her or not?

>>3788549>It's stupid as hell to unironically believe woody theory but it's pretty funny as a shitpostYeah, at the very least its more entertaining than Gaster theorizing.
>>3789104Gaster theorizing is old news, FRIEND is all the rage
I will continue to schizotheorize about that stupid ass smiling cat until Toby reveals what its deal is (or makes a joke of me like he did the Mike theorists)
>>3789109glad we can now drop the "gaster is actually EVIL and the final boss of deltarune!" theories, they were kinda annoying but it might still happen, but I don't see gaster as being just outright evil now
>>3789110My take on Gaster at the moment is that he brought us to Deltarune's world to create a "new future" that saves the world from its original destined doomsday event (the end of the prophecy/Lord of the Hammer in either Chapter 6 or 5)
Though he doesn't mind if we decide to fuck shit up either because it's all an experiment, he just wants to see something interesting happen
Kinda like Ryuk from Death Note in a way
>>3789110believe me I've seen the people who say Gaster is everyone and behind everything, they still exist and are as annoying as ever.
The problem with Gaster theorizing is that Gaster himself doesn't have a lot of concrete lore so can fit into any spot you want him.
For instance, still think Gaster is evil?
Well he calls the eggs issues in the playstation achievement so obviously he's opposed to the man who is also a shard of Gatser for some reason.
Which is that your pic rel is referencing.
>>3789037You can have understandable reasons for not doing it, through, it being too grindy or boring can be understood, as you might have better things to do than that, or difficulty concerns, which is something you cant be blamed for, the changes beyond chapter 2 feeling too miniscule is a bit arguable through, as the weird route can feel pretty different from your normal route if you choose the opposite options, like say, if your normal route save file is a pacifist playthrough, then beat everybody up in the weird run, or viceversa where if you do a no mercy neutral run on your normal route file then do pacifist outside of the noelle sections during the weird route, that'd let you see a lot of variations and differences between both the normal route and the weird route in such a way that you wouldnt get if you did pacifist on one file and pacifist during most of the weird route outside of the noelle weird run moments, but even then you cant be blamed for not bothering to go through the same events all over again right after finishing your first ch3&4 playthrough.
But not doing it because "i feel le bad for le characters!!" is the most pussyass shit, how schizophrenic do you have to be to cry like a bitch over a bunch of le pixels feeling bad? You miss out on a lot of content and shit for going retarded goody two shoes mode a lot of these games, deltarune aside, you DO miss out on a lot of shit in stuff like undertale or undertale yellow by refusing to ever click fight or reset again (the latter literally prevents you from resetting and seeing what you missed, too, like the extra characterization from the characters), as the former means you dont get to see how the characters react in special situations or even get the unique interactions from genocide, people pussying out of playing the game like a normal person had also caused a huge wave of mischaracterization that made it so that most fan content was just the most ooc shit for multiple years

The Seccom Masada and Man connection. Mny compare the "Mystery Man"'s appearance to be like that of Uboa's, so the precedent is there.
What do you two think?
>>3789121The way you find the eggs in Chapter 1 and 2 are identical to the way you find Uboa as well
>>3789121The man himself is also a FF reference, while also feeling like a deliberate reference to some fanon Gaster concepts like him being forgotten.
Although the man himself doesn't seem like Uboa or the piano guy from Yume Nikki, honestly he seems more Omori like probably being some hallucination of Kris that originates from some traumatic memory.
Which is then given proper form in the dark worlds, which allows for the existence of Mancountry and stuff like that.
>>3789120To the point where people would miss the most obvious shit like papyrus not actually hating pues or making everybody retarded, all because their retardation and believing "WELL FLOWEY TOLD ME NOT TO RESET SO I WONT DO IT!!!" stunted their senses of exploration permanently and now they refuse to engage or explore the fucking content because "what if they feel bad!?!??!!?", i will never not roll my eyes whenever someone mentions pussying out on geno or the weird run
We're 100% getting a yume nikkie esque dream world sequence, aren't we?
>>3789129I wouldn't doubt it.
>>3789120You can do what you want anon but I think you're being silly when you refuse to understand that someone just doesn't care to see a character they like get hurt. If the choice is there, then the freedom to not pick it for whatever reason you want is also there, just as much as your freedom is there to do it.
It's not schizoshit to dislike the contents of it, and arguing that because the choice is there, andthat you don't have purely logical reasons to not do it, that you have no reason not to do it (implying that you must) is bordering on the same level of bullshittery from the same fandom you complain about. That same fandom that got on every let's players case for actually choosing to fight, for making the "wrong" dialogue choices, for "hurting" their fave, for literally playing the way the viewer wouldn't. It's stifling and retarded and what caused such ill will with youtubers trying to play the game.
>>3789120>>3789126NTA but also the original anon; Yes that's cool and I know I'm cucking myself out of content and everything but it's just not worth it.
There's some things I don't like thinking about. Some things we shouldn't learn about characters, especially considering how things are in the game. Think of it like reading a book-- you have zero control there, right? You have nothing better to do than imagine what that world is like and connect with the characters. The only choice you get on rails like that is to close the book. Honestly I wouldn't dare truly compare undertale or deltarune to a book, but I can at least point to the story being told. They're both mediums for stories, and like it or not, videogames make you part of that story. You can close and open the game, save, load, kill, explore... But you're still part of the story being told. You drive it forward. If your choices matter, then you are writing it.
"What if they feel bad" then becomes an aspect of that story, or perhaps not at all. Criticizing someone for not exploring every single nook and cranny because they don't want to hurt a character's feelings is part of the story now. It may suck that you're wrested out of more of the game, but for goodness sake you mention it yourself: the extra characterization of these characters means you can actually tell a better story due to it. If you're exploring for the sake of exploring content, you're doing the story an injustice. Of course, if you don't believe the game has a story to tell or simply don't care, that's also part of the game.
That's the whole point of genocide existing in undertale, the whole schtick with sans. If you're not playing the game for the story, you're doing it for another reason. You don't want to care, nor ever did, for the characters and simply wish to see everything there is-- until it ends.
Sure, you care about them enough to get the characterization from them, but you don't care about them enough to spare them.

>>3789138That whole second paragraph became a pretty bad jumble whoops.
Point is, it's not something we can criticize. We cannot play right or wrong in the first place because it's us that's also writing the story.
>>3789120>But not doing it because "i feel le bad for le characters!!" is the most pussyass shit, how schizophrenic do you have to be to cry like a bitch over a bunch of le pixels feeling bad?I do care about and feel bad for characters in games like this, and I don't see why it's a big deal. The very point of fiction and fantasies is that they make you feel things even though they're not real. People do it for fun.
>>3789088>maintain that we're going to do a repeat of Chapter 3 at some point to get a different outcomeThis is never happening but I wish Toby was actually this wild. Exploring TV world would've been fun.
>>3789149The normal ending will probably be satisfying enough for the average player to not feel the need to hunt for secrets. Meanwhile the conclusion to whatever final route is will probably be some meta breaking shit
>>3789121I mean, yeah, Yume Nikki is a game Toby has been pretty open about being inspired by, and it's visible in Deltarune in a few places already. As a game, Yume Nikki is 99% just vibes, though, so I don't get the point in trying to draw connections between specific characters for theorycrafting or something.

I am the philosopher. I leave you some questions to ponder. You do not have to answer all at once, as this thread will go on for much longer. Amen.
>What is the significance behind the weird dancing doorknobs at the starts of chapters 1 and 3?
>What happened to the pair of eyes?
>What *is* Starwalker?
>What happened to Onion-San?
>Who else in the town is involved in the conspiracy?
>Are Gaster and FRIEND in cahoots or in opposition?
>Did Kris have a SOUL prior to the events of the game?
>Why are Berdly's parents unseen as of yet?
>How do the eggs get transferred from the dark world to the light?
>Trees are important, are acorns important as well?
>Why do Catti and Jockington have unique portraits but not talking sounds?
>Is Carol a red herring? Is she secretly evil, or secretly good?
>Will Berdly ever score?
>Does the prophecy account for Snowgrave?
>>3789171Yeah, my issue is more so, people trying to make Gaster be behind literally everything and also be the main/final antagonist of the main route when he's 90% ARG shit and I think he would come out of nowhere for the game's main route.
I think it takes a lot away from other characters, in UT for example Chara and Asriel caused a cascade of events that all flowed downhil, but Asriel and Chara didn't literally plan for all of that to happen according to some 5d chess move.
Although issue as in offspring works fine as well, after all Eggs are laid. In which case the achievement would literally you completing a chapter without acquiring any offspring. Even more schizo is something like, Susie anagram of Issue so Susie is the child of either the Egg Man or Gaster.
>>3789191>>Does the prophecy account for Snowgrave?About that:
>Ramb reveals that Tenna's video game was built upon another game to completely change it up, but he still has a version of the actual game to show Kris>Said version of the Real Game involves a complete manual of the Weird RouteWe know Susie's plenty associated with defying fate. I believe her coming late to class is what derails the actual events of the Prophecy, as Kris would've went with Noelle to the supply closet to get chalk if Susie didn't show up. In other words, Susie is "destined" to break the prophecy from the moment that shows up.
To that end, Snowgrave is (You) forcing things to return to what the prophecy ordains by dragging Noelle into the fray, arbitrarily making her "stronger" so things can proceed as according to the Prophecy. Now, why would we want to do this? Perhaps the way Susie breaks the prophecy leads to an outcome that we don't to see.
>>3789191>>Are Gaster and FRIEND in cahoots or in opposition? This is an odd one, since we know Gaster's stated goal. To create a new future with us, what exactly that means is a mystery.
While friend has no describable motive, although it is involved in the Chapter 3 Swordroute and Ralsei's Darkner cutscene implies it might be a Darkner born or Susie's feat. Simultaneously we know Noelle interacted with it in the past, and the knock off game control Asriel used had its same colors.
We haven't seen it physically in the dark world, and it seems associated with the Secret and Super Bosses and by extension their freedom thing, and it also seems to have an affinity with Technology. Like when it hides in the vending machine that's placed in the back stage room
Its very hard to tell what friend wants or even what its capabilities are. At the very least it seems to be associated with secrets, specifically video game secrets.
>>3789197>as Kris would've went with Noelle to the supply closet to get chalkNot just with Noelle but with Berdly too.
This is why I think Snowgrave was supposed to happen in Chapter 1 in the intended prophecy path, it just makes too much sense with this in mind.
Assuming Susie still eats the chalk without becoming Kris's partner, it would've been Kris, Noelle and Berdly going into the closet and falling into the Dark World. And you already know what Noelle and Berdly in the same Dark World means.
>>3789191>>Does the prophecy account for Snowgrave?Completing Snowgrave on chapter 2 causes the blue bead in the hospital lobby to break off, and continuing it at the start of chapter 4 causes Kris to gain the title "Dark Bead: Broken off, but still locked."
Snowgrave is the breaking of the prophecy. Both Snowgrave and the Shadow Crystal routes (because they've been focused on Susie so far) are going to break the prophecy in different ways. Normal non-Crystal will be fulfilling the prophecy in an unfulfilling way, spurring an unaware player to either bust their asses off getting the Shadow Crystals, or taking a shortcut with Snowgrave.
>Complete the game without the Shadow Crystals
>Bad ending where everything goes to shit because of the Prophecy
>At the very end, when all that remains is a black screen, the Knight fades in
>Juggling the Shadow Crystals you missed with a smug grin
>"TRY AGAIN"
>>3789191>>What *is* Starwalker?Thinking, the other non-original starwalkers kinda resemble the titan we fight in chapter 4, like, the general face shape of the non-original starwalkers being star-shaped like the titan's face, the wings, and the fact that they can both shoot stuff from their mouths (the starwalkers spit stars and the titan spits darkness), so my best bet is that the starwalkers could be small clumps of compressed/condensed/whatever darkness/titan spawns into seemingly inoffensive darkners who could potentially explode into your average titan spawns? im pretty sure theyre not normal darkners, because, think about it, what item could the original starwalker be? He follows you and appears in every dark world, but he doesnt actually appear if you never find him back in chapter 1, not even in castle town, so it certainly cant be something from kris's pocket or the ch1 unused classroom thingy, its pretty confusing
>>3789126I know its not real, but it feels real and I prefer to keep it that way rather than killing my immersion for the sake of completionism.
>>3789197Susie being there and doing her thing is still predestined and part of the prophecy from our point of view. So from out perspective, destroying the current events and making Noelle get stronger is breaking free from the prophecy, since its the only way we can make something different from the normal outcome happen.
I don't know if this is intentional on Toby's part, but it is certainly interesting to think about. The idea that freedom and what the prophecy is are relative depending what angle you're viewing them from. So the player's freedom, and the cast's freedom are two separate and opposed things.
>>3789226Susie is supposed to be the dragon who is stopped by the three heroes, as gerson says during his story in his secret boss battle (and yes, the book DOES have parallels to the deltarune chapters), however, susie is not stopped by the three heroes because the second hero, noelle, was missing.
>>3789228Gerson's story doesn't specify it's three heroes, just heroes plural
And stopping the dragon could mean changing her ways
Kris and Ralsei did change Susie's ways in Chapter 1, and Susie's big defining redemption moment in 1 comes directly after they defeat the King
>>3789231Did we? The redemption arc was mostly done by susie herself, we could beat everybody up and be as mean as possible but she is always redeemed, so clearly we didnt do shit to directly stop susie from going nuts, i think the og prophecy was meant to have us try to stop or convince susie on a fight in our own accord, rather than susie being redeemed on her own

>>3789191>What is the significance behind the weird dancing doorknobs at the starts of chapters 1 and 3?Are they really doorknobs? Since we only find them in places that look like they've been abandoned, it's most likely that they are mold and the bullets they shoot are their spores, or maybe they are cobwebs or something.
>What happened to Onion-San?It's pretty clear that the song she heard was something she wasn't supposed to hear, and either it disappeared her, or she was disappeared by someone who didn't want to her find something out. This could've actually been Gaster, as you find the bird Gaster follower at the lake, telling you not to wait.
>Did Kris have a SOUL prior to the events of the game? There's no way to know, but it's actually gotten less likely after ch. 4, since according to Noelle, Kris acts like themselves without the soul, so his jerky movements aren't caused by a lack of soul. On the other hand, Kris pretending to rip out his heart for Noelle suggests that he did have a soul, and soulless humans aren't a thing we've ever seen in both games.
>Is Carol a red herring? Is she secretly evil, or secretly good? She probably doesn't want to cause the roaring, and her main goal seems to be to find Dess/restore her to what she was before, which is an understandable motivation. In all likelihood, she's going to like Asgore was in UT, and be made sympathetic by the end, only for the Knight, which is less like Dess than we or she thought, to kill her, paralleling Flowey killing Asgore.
>>3789315so y'all better get to work if you wanna see it
>one chance at life
>will never make a game as big as deltarune
how do i cope
>>3789285Yead it's pretty off, espically when you take W.ogg into account. At first it seemed like a Gaster reference with W. ogg and D.ogg
But now we have C.ogg which is an ambient version of Carol's (unreleased) theme and D.ogg is probably an ambient/creepy version of Dess/December's theme which Raise up Your Bat probably is, or is at least another take on as well. Odd that it appears in the weird route in a deliberately negative context in a situation where Dess and the Knight aren't involved, I've seen people connect this to The Red Soul = Dess of at least half of here, but again I think Toby is trying to draw a parallel or deliberately trying to evoke the connection in our minds, not revealing the red soul we control actually belonged to Dess.
I think sometimes the community takes music based theory crafting too seriously, especially when sometimes its just vibes based.
Again like with the man and the waltz of Seccom Masada, Toby danced around the concept of Gaster, almost deliberately evoking him. Only to reveal it he was only trying to evoke Gaster, it wasn't literally Gaster.
The Chapter 5 teaser of the Deltarune Website also has h.ogg which in context of the other two themes being about the Holidays, probably is a shortened version of Holiday. Like D is for December, and C is for Carol.
>>3789335did you think Toby knew that Undertale will blow up, just advertise your game on /v/, make it a bit streamlined so it won't scare away the normies too much and pray that youtubers will make videos about it, repeat until successful
> * Susie yelled at Tasque to get off her lawn.
> * Susie roared like a lion!
> * Ralsei cooed gently at Tasque!
> * Ralsei blinks at Tasque!
> * Noelle got rubbed on by Tasque!
> * Tasque showed its belly to Noelle!
Tasque's character acts require further inspection. Ralsei's is especially curious, but them showing signs of trust to Noelle is also interesting.
>Slow blinking in cats is often interpreted as a sign of trust and affection. When a cat slowly blinks at you, it can indicate that they feel safe and comfortable in your presence. This behavior is sometimes referred to as a "cat kiss."
>>3785591>projecting this hard
>>3789329>She probably doesn't want to cause the roaring, and her main goal seems to be to find Dess/restore her to what she was before, which is an understandable motivation. In all likelihood, she's going to like Asgore was in UT, and be made sympathetic by the end, only for the Knight, which is less like Dess than we or she thought, to kill her, paralleling Flowey killing Asgore.I agree, ironically her intro shows her being so villainous on the surface level I think she has to be. Especially when you take into account of how she's going out of her way so support Asgore and seems to be trying to help him.
There's also the matter of the prophecy. It exists in the Lightworld already, and if somebody understands what it really is, like Ralsei, they can then take action informed by future knowledge.
If the Roaring is going to happen no matter what, and is going to be stopped by the Heroes after it begins no matter what, then you may as well try to cause it in a controlled manner that makes it easier for the heroes.

On weird route it will probably be another rape coded scene with Noelle, during which she is 'used up', whatever that means, although it would make more sense to dispose of Kris and use Noelle to transfer you to the vessel.

>>3789361Ive unironically always wished for a final/super boss in an rpg to be a god of some kind that instead of being malicious or truly arrogant towards the player or anything they're just hyped as fuck to see someone pushing their limits so hard theyre capable of felling The Creator, so if Gaster becomes that boss I will cream my pants on the spot

There's only 7 chapters of Deltarune, so I doubt that every place that could be a dark world would be one in the final game. What's a Dark World concept (You) think would be cool? It doesn't even have to be something from Hometown, it could be any place. I personally want to see what a junkyard Dark World would be like.
three day is over, now i can post this
>>3788272for your consideration:
>berdly exhibits some resistance to your commands>he'll refuse to use his iceshock equivalent (windglaive?) to score a final hit, and will instead use his B-action to spare the tired enemy since the battle system is "similar to dragon blazers">the start of this relies on enemy targeting being present in CH2 like it is in CH1>for the first few battles, fight with kris and down berdly when he's targeted>he'll get upset and ask kris why he's doing so poorly despite being a dragon blazer nerd. HE should be the one excelling at battles. not kris!>you get a dialog choice between "sorry, i'll try to avoid damage" and "you have to get stronger">the former being your way out, and the latter being the hook into the weird route>if you dont fight with kris, he'll call you out for the hypocrisy and you cant start the route.>if you do fight, he'll agree to fight SOME enemies with windglaive. but thats it!>once he goes back to refusal and acting, you have to repeat the process of downing him until he agrees to get stronger>you have to do the cycle twice before getting his icering equivalent (tempest spear?)>the cycle repeats three more times, but berdly becomes less resistant each time, takes less to make him agree to [get stronger] (just getting stronger to impress the queen with how good he is at battles and become the herald of the new world!)>thorn ring equivalent: strength visor>gives the user all kinds of statistics about their own strength and the opponent's, induces a trance like state. while equipped on someone in the party you can see exact health numbersnot exactly sure how the noelle fight would go though.
maybe you need to slowly break through berdly's resistance to the visor's trance with various acts. eventually convincing him that the noelle he's seeing isnt real, and that killing this specter with (tempest flurry?) will help him get much stronger
>>3789703had a dream a few years ago that im using for my fangame
>book themed dark world>the world's gimmick is that there are occasional podiums with blank books, you collect pages from around the dark world. placing said pages within the books will determine the dark world's shape.>there are two sets of pages: darkner pages and environment pages, should be self explanatory. only one of each set can be placed within the books. when no pages are placed in the books there are only hostile dark blobs (works even better now with DARK element enemies) and the world is black and white.>presumably placing a page in one book podium will affect all podiums (this part wasnt covered in the dream, but it can be assumed thats how the logic would work.)>and for some reason there was an oppai darkner page. (will not use this, maybe something similarly ridiculous like a "kissy mew mew" page)and for some reason the dream was in the format of a newsletter.
>>3789710Would it be too predictable to have a literal bookworm as a boss?
>>3789609Could be there's a shared, Hometown/Holiday theme, or it could be more evidence to the theme names not having any particular meaning like spelling out something.
Instead they're supposed to illicit a certain vibe and share the property of being an ambient version of another track.
>>3789710There was a game that had a system tangentially similar to that called Avalon Code
>>3789703Dess' room feels like a combination of fun with all the stuff lying around, and absolutely heartwrenching if someone connected to her creates the Dark World and Noelle ends up in it.
>>3789706I think maybe you could get him to accidentally kill her if he didn't know just how strong the new spell was. Alternatively you could swap the killed party member out for someone else. Remember that the reason Berdly is there as the victim thematically is that while he and Noelle are close, she also harbors pent up frustration and violent thoughts directed towards him. The reverse isn't true for Berdly.
>>3789720There's definitely a lot of potential for drama there, most of the Darkners there would have a massive complex about abandonment, maybe they'd desperately ask Noelle what happened to Dess while she has some a panic attack.
>>3789720Someone suggested that she has so much stuff in her room not because she had many hobbies, but because she was deliberately collecting Darkners. This may also suggest that she was able to see Darker than Dark without Dark Fountain somehow.
>>3789732The voice in the code, talks about having nightmares of an event that sounds like being shut in the bunker.
>What is this place, anyway...?>How did I get here?>... as if I haven't asked that question a billion times already.>I...>I always did have that nightmare.>Walking into the darkness,>With the light shining from the doorway...>Then the door slams behind me.>And everything goes black.>... is this that nightmare?>... or was everything else a dream? While the speaker does seem to be losing their sense of what's real of not, as well as their memories, if Dess. This could point towards her having some special, prescient ability in the Light World. With those nightmares being premonitions of her becoming the Knight.
>>3789703It's definitely not happening because it's not an indoor area, and Flower King/Bunker/Cliffs feels like the most likely set for Chapter 5-7, but a Dark World based on the graveyard could be cool
It could be some True Lab type shit with all the major enemies being like NotGerson because the fountain's creator didn't have a connection to any of the dead Lightners
Some other Dark Worlds I'd want to see for lols would be Ice-E's and Sans's convenience store
>>3789749 (me)
Actually it literally WOULD be True Lab shit because I just remembered all the dead Lightners except Gerson were amalgams in UT
I just found out the Green Room motif is in SWORD but you'd only be able to tell that by looking at the notes like I did because it's so heavily altered
>>3789740Bad thoughts from a guy who has bad dreams constantly and I'm sorry for sharing them:
>>3789197This isn't Dess, it's Noelle. Noelle's reality where she enters the dark world with Kris is abandoned and left there as part of the code. She's a placeholder, so to speak, for what the start of the game should have been. She should have walked through the door with Kris and had the door shut behind her, just like how it happened with Susie and Kris.
But it never did happen.
The awful thing is, "Kris" had the savefile for that outcome already there, at the start of the game.
And we overwrote it.
>>3789833mark my words, we are going to get s NG+ where we play through the "real" version of events where kris and noelle end up in the dark world together.
>>3789838Berdly will be there too and we'll have the option to freeze him a chapter early
If we do, we see the events of the_n3w3st_g1rl_g1rl after we return to the Light World
>>3789703Not a Dark World concept but more of a secret boss concept. This idea spawned from the unfinished final boss on Asriel's computer, but I was thinking of an unfinished protagonist character. The secret boss's dilemma would be an inversion of Spamton. Instead of their reality being shattered by the fact they're a puppet, it's shattered by the fact that they aren't a puppet. Pre-schizo, they were a plucky and uplifting type. They always went with the flow and trusted in things being able to perfectly work themselves out. Until, their game stopped being worked on and the creator ultimately left it behind. They kept their chin up for a while, but began to isolate more and more. Until eventually coming into contact with a higher being (Gaster) or a Shadow Crystal, revealing the truth of not only the Dark World, but the Light World as well. They learn about (You). They were never going to fill out the role they were promised, because (You) were not going to play as them. Broken by this revelation, their personality completely shatters.
This is when (You) and the vessel you're controlling enter the Dark World. They instantly know your presence and work from the shadows to draw you in. Possibly with the promise of a strong item? A secret? Whatever happens, it results in a fight. The plan is to destroy your vessel in the hopes they'll take it's place.
I feel like /v/ threads were unusually excellent at first but then the janny rampage caused a lot of steam to crash and now threads keep getting dogpiled by shipfags who literally post the same images and arguments each thread
>>3789833I don't understand how that could happen. This is some, "the negative space where you don't exist is a person", type stuff I don't think Toby's ever done. It's just so different from the themes of fate, fatalism, and fiction that the story is dealing with are . I just don't know how you could come up with the idea.
I don't think Dess being the voice has a lot of evidence, nor am I really that attached to it. It wouldn't be out of left field and fits with what we know about the story right now.
I suppose the voice in the code could be an alternate universe Noelle, but why would Noelle not entering the Dark World in chapter 1 cause an alternate universe version of herself to be trapped in the code? I could see myself kind of agreeing if she NEVER entered a dark world, then the how could be answered by the voice being her Darkworld form, but we see her in a Darkworld and uses a Dark World form.
Noelle as is still has the abilities of her supposed original prophecy self, being able to equip bow amors and use certain types of swords. Like if Noelle never entered a Darkworld and Noelle still had a DW sprite in the game since chapter 1 and still had all of that unused 1:1 text with Kris, I could see it, but as is, I don't think there's any evidence.
>spoiler textI tend to disregard theories that posit these types of, 'the player is bad for playing the game', both because OFF and more importantly the Earth Bound Halloween Hack already did it. The same hack which Toby is embarrassed by. Of course I also just dislike this type of hackery, so I'm biased here. But I don't think Toby is that interested in treading well trod ground, especially when he's already working on the OFF remake.
All of this just seems so unrelated to Deltarune's current narrative preoccupations as well as the rules of the world as we know them.
>>3789849Adding onto this because I thought of a Weird Route variation of the boss. Ironically, the Weird Route would actually be a bit of a positive influence on this character. Since he would have inherent knowledge of (You), he would be aware of your actions from previous Dark Worlds. Possibly going on a Chapter 2-style murder spree or something equally fucked up. With this new knowledge about the player, the concept he has idolized since his conception, he would most likely realize that his nature does not align with yours. Being an intended mary-sue self insert, he's supposed to have unquestionably heroic and good ideals.
With the realization that he does not want (You) to control him, he's able to break free of his intended purpose and actually become a real hero.
Doesn't change a whole lot, but the Weird Route is about changing the context of a situation and this seems like a pretty no-brainer approach.
>>3789864>he's able to break free of his intended purpose and actually become a real hero. That'd be a really cool opportunity to put Battle Against a True Hero in his boss theme (if it hadn't already been referenced in schizoboss fights like 3 times in a row)
>>3789857Who says it's bad that you're playing the game?
You're making it so that the prophecy might not come to pass, after all.
>>3789873First area of Chapter 1, the one before Castle Town that Lancer throws spades at you in and is never really explained at all
I don't think it ever gets named in-game but its theme is "Cliffs" in the soundtrack
I think it's gonna be the last Dark World
>>3789870>Who says it's bad that you're playing the game? The fact that you fucked over an entirely hypothetical alternate universe Noelle into being trapped in a lightless oblivion?
>>3789342>C.ogg which is an ambient version of Carol's (unreleased) themeas far as I'm aware we don't have C.ogg. We have carol_appeared.ogg which is named "C" on the soundtrack
What if it wasn't actually Battle Against a True Hero in BURNING EYES but actually Amalgam?
It starts with the same 4 notes and goes up on the 6th one, while BAATH goes down on the 6th
Plus Chapter 3 is Hotland and the True Lab is in Hotland
>>3789878And let the entire timeline get subjected to the prophecy instead?
I think it's a utilitarian tradeoff.
>>3789879Oh yeah, I was probably thinking of m.ogg and e.ogg, which appear in game as me.ogg. Which in context of it appearing inside of the weird route is something like a theme for the player(?)
But I think C follows the general one letter naming(?) scheme.
there is so much stuff that has to have a satisfying conclusion i'm worried toby's going to pull a homestuck and balls up the ending
>>3789887You guys should accept the reality that not all of these will be explored or expanded upon. Not every single mystery is resolved in a story.
>>3789895Yeah. Undertale was fine and it had a LOT of unresolved mysteries and stuff that never got expanded.
Personally, I am fine without an ICE-E lore exposition.
>>3789887>"The pipes"The pipes and the "I'm sorry about the pipes" freakout immediately after were most likely a metaphor for the bath bombs Kris flushed
They probably clogged the pipes and got his parents REALLY pissed and Tenna was replaying the dialogue between Kris and Toriel
>The family's fighting again.
>>3789887A lot of these remind me of the "unsolved mysteries" in LOST just being people fixated in details that don't really matter.
I want to be Kris' friend one day.
>>3789920Me too. It would be a lot nicer.
>>3789875Chapter 3 has pretty much the same area. It was implied to be some area under the couch, with dust and stuff, so it's something similar as well, maybe an area behind shelves or something.
Better question is, where are all the supply closet darkners anyway? Did they removed all the stuff from the closet before opening a fountain? Was Toriel on it?
>>3789936My guess is all the supplies were moved to the other locked classroom on the upper-left side. Either Alphys is in on everything which is why she told Kris and Susie to go to the supply closet to begin with, or she got told nothing and Susie eating her chalk was the butterfly.
>>3789920>>3789935As the days go by I feel less of an urge to whack the shit out of them. I can somewhat relate to that kind of misery, just going through the motions and doing what other people tell you. That said, if something happens to my vessel then all of Hometown is going to die
How is Toby gonna handle the vessel returning if it does when you're able to start the game from any chapter?
Would it just give you the default unnamed bald fuck or would it force you to bring a save you brought all the way from Chapter 1 to start the chapter?
>>3789965Small wording correction on my part, I mean that you're able to start a new save in any chapter.
Maybe it'd just boot you into the goner maker to build one at the moment it would've normally given you the Chapter 1 vessel? Definitely would ruin the impact though
>>3789965Probably the same as the thrash machine, where the parts are randomized.
>>3789969>"I HAVE SALVAGED YOUR VESSEL FROM THE DEPTHS.">"Dude what the fuck is this? I didn't make that! Why'd you pick the one with the messed up hairline!?">"MAYBE YOU SHOULD'VE USED A CHAPTER 1 SAVE, CHUCKLEFUCK."
>>3789920>>3789935It'll be cute when he finally caves, but I'm betting on him hating us even more before we get there
>>3789973I find the people that keep insisting that Kris will hate us no matter what to be really funny. Do you think that's what Toby wants you to feel while playing his game?
>>3789974Yeah, but Susie does likes the real Kris. The one who acts like a goblin, plays piano and says the most outrageous things sincerely.
>>3789975I don't think Kris has any ill will towards the player apart from the Weird Route. They only use force to keep us from seeing the code on the guitar and fucking everything up. The whole segment in Chapter 4 struck me more as "goddammit dude, I know what you want but I can't let it happen and I need you to stop" rather than "I FUCKING HATE YOU AND HOPE YOU DIE"
It's funny how Kris fights so hard to keep us from reading the last number of the guitar code when we literally just had to enter it in Chapter 3 to progress the game.
Bro you should be focusing more on keeping it away from Susie we already know what it is.
>>3789982I assumed that it was a long series of digits and we were only able to read the first three numbers. I really doubt Susie wouldn't have been able to read the code if it was just four digits.
>>3789986>it's 122522021997
>>3789987>2202Where does that come from?
>>3789988The fire extinguisher's code in Chapter 4
I doubt it's actually related to the shelter codes but I was just cramming together every Deltarune number combination off the top of my head
>>3789982it is likely all 3 codes instead of just the holiday one
>>3789982To be fair, that's what he was doing. Even if (You) knew the code, he could've somehow prevented (You) from entering it correctly, he pulled (You) out so you wouldn't run off and report it to Susie. Then again, it was important to prevent (You) from seeing the whole thing, because I imagine (You) can't tell the code to Susie in a dialogue choice unless (You)'ve actually seen it in-game.
>>3789986I assumed the same but now I'm not sure.
Honestly, even though it's officially the Shelter I still like calling it the bunker more
>>3789979Does she? Does she really? Because the Kris she knows doesn't know how to play piano. That's the other guy.

๐
What if the voice on the phone was Catti?
>on the phone all the time
>summoned demons with Kris
>hates Susie
>voice on the phone speaks in broken sentences like Catti
>>3789998There's a whole scene in Chapter 4's dark world where Kris plays the entire sheet music that Susie copied from Gerson
The Kris she knows plays piano
>>3789936Im convinced that at the bare minimum, the cakes Ralsei makes for the fun gang are just a box of urinal cakes left in the closet. What other cake do you find in a school that comes from a bowl of water?
>>3789998Now I imagine Susie pointing the gun at shambling zombie and floating heart and trying to figure out which one is real Kris.
>>3790002I forgot, did Noelle mention to her that Kris plays the piano? Toriel certainly did. I remember Noelle talking with Kris about piano in the church, but I'm not sure if Susie was in the earshot at that moment.
>>3790002That scene in chapter 4 shows that (You), the Kris that Susie has been hanging with, are incapable of playing the piano. Susie interprets it as "ha ha stop pretending dude" but we're not pretending. It isn't until Kris relents and takes over control from us that it happens.
The Kris that Noelle thinks is strange but Susie thinks is normal cannot play piano. The Kris she has never met and does not recognize from Noelle's description of them can play piano.
>>3790006Speaking of that, why can we not play piano? We can play guitar just fine
>>3790008Because the SOUL and Kris are different people, each with traits and history that are unexplainable by either just being an avatar of the player, and we're controlling the SOUL. It's third entity.
>>3790005Noelle mentions missing Chris play piano if you examine her grand piano with her in the party.
>>3790006Kris she met is combination of (You) and his own quirks. He is constantly breaking through, every goblin moment is real him, and some of them were unprompted (snack lawnmower scene). In fact, everything she likes about him is Kris being himself at your prompt. She is impressed by his flirting skills, but (You)r only contribution is picking the "Flirt" ACT.
>>3790008>We can play guitar just fineThat was just a fake video game guitar. We weren't playing guitar, we were playing Guitar Hero.
>>3790013Then why can we not play the fake piano well? The soul can play Guitar Hero, but not Beatmania?
>>3790013Oh, by the way, I just realized why Kris is so good at flirting. He learned it from his brother.
>>3790015I figured it wasnt Kris who was good at flirting, it was the Soul. Noelle seemed surprised that it was even a notable thing about Kris to Susie, and we as the player flirted with most existing monsters because of Undertale
Were all the human souls in Undertale also "players" that possessed their respective human's body against their will or is it just the red one that does the whole parasite possession thing?
>>3790016No, I still think it's Kris, she just never had the opportunity to see his flirting skills in action. He preferred to tease her, not to flirt with her when they were kids, and girls were the last thing on his mind after Dessappearance. When you choose "Flirt" ACT, he just remembers what Asriel used to say to the girls.
>>3790014By all means, you can try. You can play the entire song that Susie recorded, but Kris will bungle the last note because he wants to play it himself.
>>3790019Setting aside I have no idea where you're getting "Asriel was not only good at flirting, but did it multiple times around Kris" from, the entire conversation Susie and Noelle have about Kris seems to be about their differences in perspective because of our involvement. Noelle talks about the Kris before us, and Susie talks about the Kris we are when controlling him. If what Susie said about his voice is a result of us, then it stands to reason the Flirting is because of us as well
>>3790025I'll note that Susie had not met Kris for the first time at the very start of the game, and in fact had interacted with them a lot before we showed up since she made them the primary target for her bullying. The second personality that acts like a robot and is good at flirting that Susie and Noelle talk about existed before the start of the game and had been going to class with Susie for the entirety of her time in Hometown.
>>3790026Susie only mentions Kris flirting with "Enemies", not just everyone in general. His flirtation is a direct result of us piloting him as by that description it can only have started when they went into the dark worlds together, unless you're telling me Kris flirted with her here and that's why she ran but even as a krusie fan that carries implications im not as fond of
>>3790025>aside I have no idea where you're getting "Asriel was not only good at flirting, but did it multiple times around Kris" fromAsriel was extremely popular with girls, it was established since chapter 1, and Kris used to hang out with him a lot. Susie can actually find his love letter to Catty in his jacket during church sermon (not sure what the conditions are, you must have an empty inventory or something), and while it was extremely corny, it seems to have worked since Catty is head over heels for him.
>the entire conversation Susie and Noelle have about Kris seems to be about their differences in perspective because of our involvementThe thing is, there is no clear divide between "real" Kris and (You)Kris. As I said before, Susie sees the combination of both.
>>3790029>Susie only mentions Kris flirting with "Enemies", not just everyone in generalShe does, but the important part isn't that. It's Noelle's response to it. Noelle firmly believes that her Kris - the SOUL-less Kris - is absolutely abysmal at flirting. Flirting as the Kris we control does is not something within the real Kris's skill set, just like playing the piano isn't in ours but is in theirs. Kris is in reality two different people people sharing a body with seperate and distinct personalities and skill sets. Hell, they even move differently.
You literally had two characters sit down and talk about how the SOUL and Kris are different people. Why do you think that conversation even happened? Do you think Susie, who'd been hassling Kris for months, wouldn't notice that Kris's personality had changed? The game went out of its way to have Noelle describe 'weird' personality traits with a yellow highlighter that Susie then replied to with "yeah that's normal Kris."
>>3790037>Noelle firmly believes that her Kris - the SOUL-less Kris - is absolutely abysmal at flirtingYes, because she never saw him do it, so why would she assume otherwise? In fact, that's what the scene pretty much says. She is surprised at the fact that Kris flirts at all.
>Kris is in reality two different people people sharing a body with seperate and distinct personalities and skill setsThe thing is, every time you are presented with some choice, there's always an option that corresponds to what Kris would really do or say in that situation. You are not overwriting his personality every time you're inside, he still gets a certain amount of wiggle room even on the wrong choices.
>>3790047>Yes, because she never saw him do it, so why would she assume otherwise? In fact, that's what the scene pretty much says. She is surprised at the fact that Kris flirts at all.On the contrary, her surprise isn't from Kris flirting "at all." Her reaction to Susie inviting her to learn flirting from Kris isn't "huh, I didn't know that about them," it's specifically
>* (AM I THAT BAD???)which indicates that Noelle knows full well how good Kris is at flirting, and that she knows Kris is NOT good at it. It's the kind of reaction you'd get from someone who said that you should learn how to make Youtube videos from your elderly grandmother, who needs your help to open "the Google" whenever she has to use the internet. If she was unaware of Kris's skill with flirting, her response would be (H-huh, I didn't know that about Kris) instead of (AM I THAT BAD???).
>You are not overwriting his personality every time you're inside, he still gets a certain amount of wiggle room even on the wrong choices.I agree. In fact, I don't think we're overwriting any dialogue choices at all. Our options are drawn from a combination of things that Kris and the SOUL would say.
It is impossible to deny that Kris moves, acts and talks visibly differently when the SOUL is inside of them, and also does not share knowledge with the SOUL - they know the bunker codes when we do not, and can play the piano when we cannot.
It's also hard to deny that the SOUL has been within Kris for longer than we've been controlling Kris. They've had that cage for a while, and the behavior changes when Kris puts the SOUL inside them are significant enough that Susie would have noticed.
Different behavior + has been going on since before the game started = not caused by the player. The personality and skill changes has to come from the SOUL, which means that the SOUL is its own person and not simply a mindless avatar of the player.
>>3790055>If she was unaware of Kris's skill with flirtingThose things are not mutually exclusive. She only known him as obnoxious little shit or shambling zombie, she would come to conclusion he's bad at flirting even without seeing him in action.
>They've had that cage for a whileTo be fair, he could've had it for any number of reasons.
>and the behavior changes when Kris puts the SOUL inside them are significant enough that Susie would have noticedSusie wasn't exactly paying close attention to him until very recently. Even then, people around town note that he is unusually talkative during chapter 1 and he is usually just wandering around aimlessly, and Susie calls him "school zombie" in chapter 2. In fact, Kris' behavior during the_newest_girl also corresponds with SOVLless behavior we've seen - acting like a zombie and then suddenly showing great reflexes.
>[Fr33 fr13nd f1ndh3r]
What if this wasn't just "findher" jumping into Spamton's text but literally that FRIEND found her?
Okay, something interesting I noticed.
> * What was interesting is that... Kris just...
> * Kris, just acted, not like their normal self?
> * They acted... Just like they do recently, I guess.
>[...]
> * And Kris, even though they kept looking at me...
> * Like they wanted to say something...
> * Everything that came out of their mouth, sounded... odd.
> * Like it was like on speaker or something.
> * Sounds like normal Kris to me.
> * Well... It wasn't. Something was weird.
I think that's a big hint that chapter 1 was the first time when Kris had SOUL inside. Noelle interacted with him a lot during chapter 2, and while his behavior was similar to his 'recent' behavior, it seems to be the first time she noticed that his speech pattern was completely off.
>>3790071>She only known him as obnoxious little shit or shambling zombie, she would come to conclusion he's bad at flirting even without seeing him in action.Fair point, but I still don't think that so much attention would be drawn to that if it wasn't significant in some way.
>To be fair, he could've had it for any number of reasons.True, but the only thing we've seen them use it for is holding the SOUL. And it's pretty well-used.
>Susie wasn't exactly paying close attention to him until very recently.I feel like I have to disagree? newest_girl showed that she'd fixated on Kris pretty hard, likely because they were human. It'd be kind of hard to not notice a drastic change in the way someone talks if you're constantly doing shit like what Susie did at the start of chapter 1?
>>3790078I dunno...again, Susie says it sounds like normal Kris, and again I feel like "recently" would be a longer time than the last two days. Noelle thinks it's strange because it's a pattern they'd noticed for a while.
And hadn't Noelle had drifted pretty far apart from Kris by the time the game started? She and Kris were barely speaking when the game began. If anything, the person who'd been interacting with Kris on a daily basis would be in a better position to notice changes in behavior.
>>3790085>True, but the only thing we've seen them use it for is holding the SOUL. And it's pretty well-used.It's just a battered old cage he found somewhere. Note how its description changes drastically between chapters, going from
> * It's a red wagon with a rusty birdcage in it.> * Looks like it's seen quite a few crashes.to
> * It's a birdcage. When the door's closed, there's no escape. It may be a hint that it's just got its new purpose.
>She and Kris were barely speaking when the game began. Thing is, Kris was barely speaking with anyone when the game began. Susie wasn't exception either - "Quiet people piss me off", remember? She was trying to badger and scare him, while he just didn't react.
Can people in the fandom please stop acting like Dess/UNUSED literally being trapped in the code of the game is canon?
>Nothing in the dialogue indicates the speaker is lost "in the code". It's "unused" dialogue you have to look in the code to find, yes but that doesn't mean it's a meta thing. The dialogue points heavily more towards it being a Dark World than anything.
>If it were happening concurrently with the game, Chapter 1's unused dialogue would make no sense. It reads as if she just realized she doesn't know where she is, and Dess has been missing for years in the story. She wouldn't act like she just stepped into the darkness if she's already been there for years. (I see "she's talking in the code throughout the chapters" used to debunk her being the knight all the time when the messages being from the past literally makes more sense than them being concurrent)
>The "scratching" being us looking through the code isn't necessarily true either, scratching is a thing associated with cats, and we have an established schizo lore cat character that lives in deep darknesses.
I swear this shit is like "the red soul is determination" but worse.
>>3790093>It may be a hint that it's just got its new purpose.Perhaps.
>Thing is, Kris was barely speaking with anyone when the game began. Susie wasn't exception either - "Quiet people piss me off", remember? She was trying to badger and scare him, while he just didn't react.Yeah, which is exactly my point. At that point in time, Susie had a better grasp on Kris's personality than Noelle did. Hell, we could very well have kept up that "don't talk to anyone" behavior in chapter 1, which means that our only interaction with Noelle would be chapter 2. "Recently" implies a slightly longer period of time than "yesterday, the same day I had the dream."
...honestly, on the subject of player behavior? I'd like to take a moment to examine the way skipping chapters is handled. I think the fact that it's even possible at all tells us a lot about what's going on, since the save/load and chapter select are in-universe canon things thanks to Gaster connecting us to the SOUL being the literal first thing that happens in the game. If we skip a chapter, then events * Proceed without us. We aren't part of the narrative and the characters make their own choices without our influence...and yet, Noelle still notices that Kris is different. To me, that says that Kris's altered behavior is because of the SOUL itself, not the player. The player is an external force Gaster has introduced that's only capable of nudging the plot, not changing it...without Snowgrave and the secret bosses added to the mix, of course.
Ralsei doesn't have an ability to travel between Dark Worlds, neither he is residing in someone's inventory constantly. Instead someone just carries him between the Dark Worlds
>chapter 1
Was planted in supply closet in advance.
>chapter 2
Once Kris and Susie entered the Dark World, someone (most likely Knight) went and moved him from supply closet to computer lab, that's why he appears with a delay.
>chapter 3
Kris brought him over during bathroom break. That's why Ralsei appears almost immediately.
>chapter 4
Knight brought Ralsei with herself to the church, that's why he actually appears on the scene before Kris and Susie
>>3790111Begs the question, why would the knight do that?
>>3790106>"Recently" implies a slightly longer period of time than "yesterday, the same day I had the dream."Yes, but the thing is, it's not the Kris' behavior that surprises Noelle, quite the opposite, she concedes he was acting that way for quite a while already. But she had an opportunity to talk with him for the first time in a while and noticed his weird speech pattern.
>Susie had a better grasp on Kris's personality than Noelle didBut he didn't talk with her much either, so she doesn't have much reference material to see how his speech had changed. She actually assumes that Kris constantly speaking differently is just something he does
>* I think Kris's just weird, period.>* Yeah, sometimes they mumble, sometimes they yell...
>>3790114Kris works for Knight and Ralsei is there to assist him. If Knight's agenda is to make sure that Prophecy comes true, then he is also needed to play the role of the Prince.
>>3789965Thereโs a default vessel in the code.
Itโs gift is โMindโ if memory serves.
>>3790111>Instead someone just carries him between the Dark WorldsRiver Person. They know Gaster.
This basically confirms that Ralsei can hear the music, but that its unusual for anyone else to hear it, as Ralsei is shocked when Susie recognizes the tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVUL5CVukU
>>3790134fucked up the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fVUL5CVukU
>>3790008>why can we not play piano? We can play guitar just fineI was wondering the same, but even if YOU can play the piano in real life, you can't play it while controlling Kris because of the controls of the game. The closest you can get is the organ part, and the controls are incredibly clunky.
Kris plays the tune whose sheet music Susie copied, and she thinks he was cool. If you inspect the sheet music in Key Items and play it manually by inputting the notes, Susie will be surprised and asks
>why did you play it so differently? are you nervous or something?>>3790014The Guitar Hero game in universe is a game, and you do whatever Kris would do for the controls. The piano segment is a real piano in universe, and using the arrows is the best you can do, and it's not effective.
>>3790117I'm more suspicious of Ralsei also working with the Knight, although he keeps information from us he doesn't seem to have an agenda beside making sure the prophecy comes true. That and all the scenes we have as proof for Kris and the Knight working together don't apply to Ralsei. The Knight still swoons Ralsei, doesn't show respect by knighting him like it does to Kris, and Tenna only talks about a deal he made with Kris and the Knight.
If he is working with the Knight, he might be doing it unawares or their actions line up due to them both reading the prophecy.
>>3790196not that I believe Ralsei works with the Knight (I think his ordeal will be diff, because, like, everyone is fucking secretly working for the knight)
I think it is entirely possible that the reason this happens is because we do see darkners like Tenna and Spamton being used up after they expire their purpose
>>3789849>Until eventually coming into contact with a higher being (Gaster) or a Shadow Crystal, revealing the truth of not only the Dark World, but the Light World as well.I think the Shadow Crystals showing the truth is more likely, but I donโt think that it fits with the angry Susie vision.
My theory on the shadow crystals is that they show the future. The thing that Jevil and Spamton saw in the future is the same missing prophecy slide Susie smashed, and what's on that slide is all the Darkworlds being sealed forever.
I was never happy with the theories that posted it showed Deltarune as a game, as the DW are already fiction and adding another layer of fiction on top of that doesnโt change much for Darkners. In UT the True Pacifist ending has the characters leave the underground, and in a meta sense leave the confines of the narrative. By refusing to do a true reset we accept this, something that Flowey talks about.
I assume this is the same for DR, but if all the Dark Fountains were sealed and no more Darkworlds can ever be created, that means Darkners never has a chance at that freedom. Theyโll never be allowed to have their happy ending and are all doomed while the Lightners can live in a world free of Darkness.
I think this their also nicely ties together what Susie saw in the final prophecy that fits in a way the betrayal or death hypothesis don't. That and it matches with the games themes of fate, freedom and fatalism, with all the secret bosses (including the would be secret boss Ramb) fit with well.
Ralsei isn't working with the Knight, but knows who the Knight is and the motives, and by proxy is "working" with the Knight.
>>3790270>The thing that Jevil and Spamton saw in the future is the same missing prophecy slide Susie smashed, and what's on that slide is all the Darkworlds being sealed forever.Makes sense. Especially with Seam talking about "the end of the world" (I assume Jevil told him everything).

New discovery stuff: You can keep the mini Kris on screen during the Susie and Kris conversation during the S Game... and when Susie removes the controller, mini Kris immediately dies

The closest you can get is the organ part, and the controls are incredibly clunky.Yeah, Toby as a pian player himself is aware of this sort of thing. It's not only that you aren't Kris but since your interacting with the DR would through a game, you can't impact the world as if you are a member of it.
Like how you can't attack Gerson in UT genocide, or how in the raccing minigame in chapter 3 you can't see the screen since Gaster didn't bother to program in an interface for it. Which forces you to try to win the game blind.

>>3790382Noelle can whisper to you or Kris in the future. Besides, the prophecy describes the heroes arising after the roaring begins, and the actual order of the prophecy slides imply Susie isn't the girl with a hope crossed heart.
>First is the cage>Second is the girl>Third is the prince>Then the prophecy makes mention of an additional girl, represented by the act.rude buster symbol. So Noelle whispering to you, would happen in a future chapter. Just like Susie being mad at Kris, or Kris potentially dying. So she could take Susie's and/or Ralsei's place in either routes, although with Ralsei's additional Noelle centered and prophecy lines in the Weird Route, I think he would stand against the player there. I don't want to say anything definitive about Susie since she's kind of an x factor and could turn against Kris for various reasons in either routes. Like him working with the Knight or him abusing Noelle in the weird route.
Although there is also the theory about the prophecy being falsifiable, at the very least Gaster saying he's trying to make a new future and Ralsei saying Gaster's prophecy from the old DR website seem to hint something was changed.
So despite the beliefs of in universe characters, the prophecy is probably flawed, just in ways they aren't aware of.
>>3790389>>Then the prophecy makes mention of an additional girl, represented by the act.rude buster symbol. It is possible for both girls to be the same person. Susie is the second hero we meet, but the last one to properly join, so she fits both.

>>3790393True. I think I baldy communicated three different ideas
>One, the original prophecy mentions the heroes like roles in a play instead of by name. So theyโre probably flexible to a degree.>Two, the prophecy/fate has already been altered in a way the universe characters haven't made account of. >>3790479It means the plan to break the prophecy was set in motion YEARS in advance somehow. Noelle losing that Spelling Bee is what gave Berdly his ego, and his ego is the reason Kris doesnt get in a group with Noelle and instead goes to the closet with Susie
>>3790532>Gaster's goners slipped DECEMBER into spelling bee>Gaster's goners were the one who suggested to Alphys that she can hook her two most troubled students togetherWhat else we can pin on them?
>>3790546Gaster and his Goners/Followers don't have a lot of concrete lore on them and their capabilities.
That combined with Clam Girl and the blue/yellow bird hanging around means you can basically pin everything on them.
Trust me I've still met hardline Gaster believers who still think the Knight, Kris, Ralsei, Carol, the Second Voice in the intro, the Prophecy, the Egg Man, Friend, the person on the phone, the Player, ERAM, Susie, the Shelter, Darkness, Dark Worlds, the source of Kris' trauma, and even the Light world are all created by Gaster, are themselves Gaster, or are his personal disciple carrying out his plans.
You can literally blame everything on Gatser, he's that malleable.
>>3790546>Alphys being out of chalk that day>The closet door closing behind kris and susie>Opening the door to the unused classroom (Ralsei implies it was closed last he checked)>Locking it if Ralsei didnt somehow do that himself
DELTARUNE is a SBURB-adjacent session.
Tenna's game is supposed to foreshadow this as all the characters all join in the "session" but abstracts the actual interface used with controllers.

>"Kris" has a savefile in chapter 1 that we can just keep all the way through each chapter if we do a no-save run.Kris was doing something with a soul-- perhaps a different one-- way before we got dunked into his body.
>There is a girl trapped in the code. She mentions scratching, a door shutting behind her, her own memories being nothing more than just the darkness.Several people have mentioned the theory in which this wasn't the "original" way the game was supposed to go. Noelle and Birdley were supposed to go into the first dark world, not Susie and you.
>The girl trapped in the code is the original timeline's Noelle. We've saved over that timeline, "saving" Noelle from her role in the prophecy... Or something worse, given how she has a friend scratching at the door.>And it's all thanks to Susie;>The one who doesn't care about the SOUL's choices>The one who seems too likable for everyone's good. So,
What would you do in Kris's situation?
If a friend were going to die, and their entire family along with them?
You'd save them right?
Even if you had to trade one life for another?
Perhaps you'd have an easier time choosing if that person was just... Unlikeable, right?
You'd just have to make sure they're okay with being sacrificed and all. Make them happy to take the place of another.
And what better way than through love...?
But Kris loves that girl lost to the code way more than anyone could really believe. Everything is for her, anything at all, he's tried it. This is the only way. So he'll make Susie damn sure she wants to do it.
But, maybe, if things work out...
Maybe, things just might be okay.
>>3790531This, and they're trying to keep us in "clean" threads.
>>3789116>prophecyIโve heard of a couple different theories on the prophecy. One of the interesting ones is the Recursive Prophecy theory where the prophecy is a sort of IT/Mystery Incorporated type situation where it repeats every generation with Susie, Ralsei, Noelle, and Kris just being the newest generation of people whoโve gotten involved.
Over the years various characters like Gerson, and other factions have tried to influence the prophecy.
Itโs an interesting if a bit of a fanfic-y idea, although the biggest question would be who filled what roles, especially since thereโs no human that we know of in the last generation, and who was the Darkner.
Toriel or Carol could fit into the role of the Hope Crossed Girl or second girl, and with a certain liberal interpretation of the Prophecy Asgore could probably have been a Dark Prince.
Although I donโt think it's likely, with Carol being aware of the prophecy and Asgore having a Dark Shard(whether it's a piece of the Knight, Carolโs sword, or a Shadow Crystal) I think at least they have entered Darkworlds in the past.
I had a weirdest dream about Deltarune, it seemed like some massively important lore dump, to the point I was actually trying to make screenshots inside the dream, but now that I woke up, it feels like some excerpt from a fanfic about some bizarre AU I know nothing about.
>Tasque Manager appears as a manager in a video game company
>she is discussing with her boss his decision to fire So Sorry, god why it was him, I wish it was anyone else
>that decision came from higher-ups, not as a direct order, but as a vague hint
>apparently he was a brilliant and influential game designer who recently began to forget things
>things they discussed during meetings, like implementing the ability to stab your friends with a sword ("Hey, a sword under ribcage is a nice interaction too!")
>TM angrily replies that those suggestions were never said aloud, people were just drawing squares on grid paper between each other
>she is also furious at the decision to include Ralsei, because it is somehow a massive disrespect to the real one due to his lack of agency
>she then says something like "I know that our bodies are given their shape by an anchor idol"
And then I woke up and had those five minutes when you think that you just saw some massive revelation in your dream before realizing it's a bunch of nonsense.
>>3790836>Kris was doing something with a soul-- perhaps a different one-- way before we got dunked into his body.Maybe the soul we use as a conduit was "inert" prior to the game, and something he did finally gave it sapience and control? Or maybe he experimented with his own soul, lost it somehow, and had to make a deal just to live? Maybe he literally sold his soul in a gambit to achieve his aims? A third soul would be uncharted territory.
>Or something worse, given how she has a friend scratching at the door. This is interesting. I could hazard a guess and say that it's Dess. But it might not be, depending on the degree of disappearance. There is a spectrum ranging from "died a long time ago" like with UT Asriel to "gone from time and space" like Gaster.
>So he'll make Susie damn sure she wants to do it.Susie would be the ideal candidate considering how she's an unhappy outsider at the start. Kris might be justifying this sacrifice to himself by making her as happy and comfortable as possible before leading her to the slaughter. It would be messed up but I can see it.
>One of the interesting ones is the Recursive Prophecy theory where the prophecy is a sort of IT/Mystery Incorporated type situation where it repeats every generation with Susie, Ralsei, Noelle, and Kris just being the newest generation of people whoโve gotten involved. If true, I would count Rudy as part of this since he's best of friends with Asgore. That level of camaraderie would line up with having gone on an adventure together.
Theory I just thought up:
Asgore got the black shard because the Knight tried to take him into the bunker during Chapter 3.
>We know that only human souls can seal fountains, so whatever Dark World he fought the Knight in has to still exist
>The Knight seemingly needs someone to satisfy the police badge requirement of the bunker door
>The Knight was late to Kris's dark fountain for some reason
I think everything with getting Undyne to Kris's house was a backup plan-B of sorts in case ASGORE is just too fucking strong to capture, which he seemingly was.
Knight took him into the bunker late at night, Asgore got as strong as his Undertale counterpart due to the Dark World boost and managed to fend off the Knight long enough to bolt out the great door.
He got the shard because he chipped the sword like Susie, and the Knight was late to Kris's fountain because she was busy throwing hands with his dad. Kris had a suspicion this would happen and called Undyne just in case.
>>3791055While I think it's bullshit, I like the image of Asgore chasing the Knight away with a garden rake.
I was going to ask if we'll ever get a Darkner breeding minigame for Castletown, as a nod to all the shippers in the community, but then I realized that cafe is already kinda like that.
>>3791070Whoops, realized that my gif was too lewd. Plus, an opportunity to see if image limit rolls back if I delete a file (it does)
>>3791055Im pretty sure if Asgore had that much happen to him he wouldnt have still given Toriel flowers the next day as if nothing happened, especially since he'd obviously try reporting that to Undyne who is gone now. He's too happy and casual for that to be the case
>>3790988Dreams like that are always funny, I once had a dream where I was playing a VN about visiting a childhood friend in his weird haunted house with a ghost
I guess my subconscious knew I was about to wake up and was so "proud" of the story it came up with my dream persona literally alt+tabbed and read the rest of the plot on a fake wiki page
>>3791055Aside from the fact we already have a Dark World that's been open who who knows how long in the bunker. I don't think the symbols are a hit list. Alphys and Napsta Blook both talk about how Undyne knew stuff about the Bunker/Shelter. So the symbols are probably who has the code, it makes more sense as well. A hit list would probably be on the inside.
Father Alvin also seems to know something about the Shelter. Which would explain who the Deltarune Represents.
The reason why the Knight took Undyne is that now she knew too much, she was already keened into a lot of stuff, but now she might move against the Knight meaning she needed to be disposed of.
>>3791096what if next chapter we learn father alvin went missing?

The chessboard is probably the most interesting one. You have a Knight, a King, a Queen, a Bishop, a Flower and a sword.
Its a bit off how the sword(Kris) and Queen are both white, but King, the Flower(Asgore), Knight, and Bishop are all black pieces. I guess in chess theory either Asgore or Kris could be the Pawn/Rook here, Flowers and Swords aren't exactly normal pieces.
Although now that this chessboard exists, it's a bit odd we don't have a Bishop which is the one other recognizable piece...

>>3789482It's worth bringing up that the Knight's current modus operandi seems to be opening fountains for us to close while not creating Titans unless its to stall the FUN gang.
The thing about that, is that the Soul seemingly absorbs the Dark Fountains to increase its/our own power. So the Knight has basically been feeding us, which helps explains its actions during Chapter 4.
After it's given the Soul enough power its testing to see how strong we've grown by forcing us to face off against the Titan. While the Knight itself stays in stand by with an anti-titan weapon in the form of its sword in case anything gets out of hand.

This mix of Megalovania, Vs Susie and Hammer of Justice is what I'd imagine would play during a hypothetical final duel between Susie+Player and Kris. I really like how Megalovania, Toby's traditional "I am taking a stand against the player's bullshit" song, feels like it's fighting against Vs Susie and winning...and then, midway through, Gerson's theme joins in to help Vs Susie overwhelm Megalovania - probably during a moment where Susie reaffirms her desire to join the player's efforts in writing a new ending against Kris's wishes, no matter the cost.
>>3791657>>3791768I had this relatively recent Deltarune Asgore fantheme on my playlist that encapsulated his deltarune iteration so perfectly, but it got privated when the new chapters released. It was just a slightly-altered arrangement of Asgore in a new soundfont (still chiptuney but a bit smoother and higher pitched, almost sounds slightly whiney), the tempo might've been upped slightly too. It was overall a pretty subtle round of changes, but it ended up sounding less menacing, a bit more upbeat but also kind of wistful. Real "man past his prime missing the glory days but trying to stay optimistic" vibes. I don't remember who made it but the name was something generic involving Eggs-Husband

>>3792237Yeah, I'd believe it.
He has to appear on Gaster's coincidence list for some reason and so far the only common through line is that we all interact with them in the Darkworld.
>>3792230Toby's tweets implied it was real.
Wait a minute why doesn't Gaster acknowledge when you input "Carol" in the vessel creator?
It made sense at the time of Chapter 1 because Toby was hiding her full name, but now we know it and she seems to be a pretty major Lightner
You'd think Toby would go back and retroactively add her as an interesting coincidence, it has fucking Catty and Bratty and QC in there
>>3792260>You'd think Toby would go back and retroactively add her as an interesting coincidence, it has fucking Catty and Bratty and QC in thereThe current list theory I put the most stake in is that its for allied Lightners/Dustners we'll meet in future chapters.
Catty and Bratty have their weird competitive friendship/romance thing being built up to in the background while Jockington and catti are friends of the main cast. Sans is being set up for next chapter and if we see him we'll probably see Papyrus.
Sans also connects us seeing Asriel to us seeing Papyrus, Toriel comments Asriel is arriving next week which lines up with the festival. So a lot of the misc names including the ones I've already mentioned could be for a festival Dark World.
We also already saw Undyne in the Light World and Alphys seems to be the only person who both knows a bit about the bunker but isn't in on the conspiracy surrounding it like Alvin might be. So if another Lightner tags along to the Bunker she also has a decent chance of appearing there, separate from her high chance of being in a festival Dark World.
>>3792237He's not gonna die though because Susie is gonna hit him with her overpowered heal after Asgore turns the whole town into a darkworld during the festival tomorrow to prove he isn't crazy.
>>3792280That makes a lot of sense as well but I just REALLY think Gerson being a Dustner is to set up a precedent for something more important later
And I don't see it being Dess because I believe she's the Knight already, and the Knight very very likely isn't a Darkner, given that it took Undyne through the Light World and has to hide in "large person sized" closets
>>3789285december isn't the knight, she's the puppet master. she pulls the strings and makes them ring.

>>3792334thats a lie since gerson should be on the top
>>3792334What if the reason he calls out QC is simply because it's such a specific name that for you to use it it genuinely just is an interesting coincidence
>>3792335This is probably just cope but MAYBE it could be because Gerson is only important as a Darkner and this is specifically referring to Lightner Gerson
He doesn't acknowledge any Darkner names, even ones you see in Chapter 1 including the most glaring omission Ralsei
>>3792313friend is a hand puppet anon, it's not the puppet master
>>3790663the forest of hopes and dreams
>>3792344Anon, I think he's implying that ERAM and/or Friend is Dess.
She's basically the only culprit right now since ERAM doesn't sound like Gaster, and is connected to friend. Someone had to have been using the ERAM controller and whoever else was backstage using it was probably the same person who left the yellow and pink controller for us.
At the very least Ramb says he didn't see anyone else but that just tells us he didn't see anyone. While we know for a fact Friend was hiding inside of the vending machine outside the room.
>>3792357I actually think FRIEND is controlling Dess to be the knight, and that's why the Knight has both the Friend laugh and all the Dess clues
>>3792334Papyrus is suspiciously high for someone who doesn't show up
Or does he...?
>>3792362Honestly I like this theory, but I got burned on that stuff already once so I'm cautious about including any UT characters in my theories.
>>3792359I think Friend's counterpart is some type of Malware, or something that parallels gaster, as in like how Gaster is fake removed content from UT, Friend is fake removed content from Cat Petterz.
Going back to Noelle's blog she does also run into an egg that runs away due to happiness and a Pipis. Honestly while I'd like the Egg and Eggs = friend, Noelle only mentions Friend in reference to Pluey/Mike minigames counterpart in Catpetterz, where we can run into it in DR and Cat Petterz the RPG which is a Dragon Blazer's rip off and is probably what Tenna based his game on/the game Ramb allows us to play.
So I don't think there's an actual strong link between the man, friend, and the egg. Instead I think the link with ERAM, the Knight and the Shadow Crystals is stronger. If Dess Knight = ERAM of course.
Aside from that, I don't think Dess necessarily needs to be controlled or be evil. If you talk to King after Chapter 3 about Jevil, he'l reveal Jevil was working on behalf of the Knight and was working on future knowledge, likely from the prophecy. Meaning since at least Chapter 1 the Knight has likely had access to the prophecy and is making their movements using its information.
Information that includes facts like the true heroes only arising once the roaring starts, the eventuality of the Roaring, and the fact the Roaring will be stopped. So the Knight doesn't even necessarily have to be trying to end the world, they could be someone who decided to take on the role of Knight while pursuing another agenda. So Dess, or whoever the Knight is doesn;t necessarily have to be mind controlled or evil in order to act as the Knight.

>>3792364>So I don't think there's an actual strong link between the man, friend, and the egg.Ok, so, I need to draw some lines for ya here.
First off, https://deltarune.com/thepoorchildren/
This is one of the two pages that gets you to the https://deltarune.com/egg/ page. You should already know what to do if you've gotten the chapter 4 egg. Keep drawing and eventually the Man tree will appear, which will send you to /egg.
On the subject of the /egg page itself, Noelle can't remember the name of the egg - whatever hatched from it inherited the Forgotten Man's state of being nameless. That's as close to hard confirmation that Noelle's egg came from eggman that we'll ever get.
The "secret cats' link at the top of the /egg page also leads to the post where Noelle talks about encountering FRIEND in Cat Petterz. So that's an extremely strong link between the Forgotten Man and the Cat Petterz egg, and a tenuous but very deliberate (and literal!) link between the egg and FRIEND.
>>3793157Oh, and then the rarecats game leads you back to /thepoorchildren (which is how you first get to it) so the eggman > noelle's egg > FRIEND > eggman thing loops forever. I feel like that's practically confirmation?
>>3793157>>3793159>On the subject of the /egg page itself, Noelle can't remember the name of the egg - whatever hatched from it inherited the Forgotten Man's state of being nameless. That's as close to hard confirmation that Noelle's egg came from eggman that we'll ever get.I mean even then, the Egg's entire thing is that it doesn't hatch. It just ended up leaving one day, 'due to happiness', which at this stage could mean anything.
Although I agree the looping page thing does seem like a confirmation of something, or some link.
I may be a bit hesitant due to how this clashes against some of my own theories. I think the Knight, Strange Someone, ERAM, and FRIEND alongside Carol, Kris, and possibly a third person in the Lightworld are some combination of the working with each other or the same person. That may sound like a big list, but King says Jevil started preaching about the Knight's Glory after he met the strange someone, so those two have to be working together or the same person. We already know Carol and Kris are working together, and ERAM seems familiar with Kris but doesn't seem to be Carol. FRIEND is just kind of around and works for ERAM, I think its some type of pet or creature being directed to take action from afar.
The reason I bring all of that up is that through the Knight, and the Shadow Crystals are connected by Jevil and the crying star book in Chapter 4. So we have team Shadow Crystal. And while the Egg Man seems either involved, or aware of what happened in the past, he doesn't seem to be working in concrete with them even if he's connected to FRIEND somehow. Like the entire Weird Route in Chapter 2 forces you to get a Shadow Crystal while taking away the opportunity to get the Egg Man since Spamton lives in his dumpster now.
I'm not gonna speculate if the team Shadow Crystal(w/ Kris) WANTS the Weird Route, or is just ambivalent towards it. But the Weird Route locking you out of completing the Egg Quest has to mean SOMETHING.
Rude Buster scales with both attack and magic, but does it scale better with one stat than the other?
If it scales equally with both, than Dealmakers 5 magic would be a better Rude Buster amp than Jevilstails 2 attack and 2 magic.
>>3793168 (cont.)
There's also the factor, that like Gaster, this is all ARG shit and not stuff in the game, not even meta-text in the game. So even if it seems to mean something I don't value it very highly. Espically since the Egg Man isn't connected to FRIEND in the actual game like FRIEND is with ERAM and by extension the Shadow Crystals, Shadow Mantle, Seam, and the Knight stuff. Juust looking at what we have in the game, I'd guess the Egg Man is the first voice in the intro.
Although from out of game stuff I know that's probably, 100% Gaster.
I guess it just seems a bit odd to me for the Egg Man to also be working in conjunction with or controlling FRIEND. Like at minimum assuming Dess Knight is the Strange someone(the assuming she's also ERAM), the conspiracy has Carol(Voice on the phone could also be Strange someone), Kris, probably a third person since Carol refers to Kris in the third person on the phone, FRIEND, and possibly Asgore. Not gonna mention is Gaster has any connection to their group, honestly I don't think they NEED Gaster since all their motivations and actions makes sense without him involved.
Then you add the Egg Man on top of that?
When the intro implies there sides to this conflict due to the second voice in the intro interrupting Gaster, meaning not everybody has to be apart of he same faction. There's at minimum two groups here.
>>3793173Scales better off of Maguc.
Speaking of Dealmaker - why does it feels familiar to Noelle? Is it because of her run-ins with FRIEND, or it's something that Dess used to wear?
>>3793174>Scales better off of Maguc.Fuck meant attack, how did I fuck that up?
>>379317311 damage per point of ATK plus 5 damage per point of MAG. So Jevilstail gives it 32 damage while Dealmaker gives it 25. However, Devilknife is by far better than Jevilstail and is Susie's best weapon until you get the Hammer.
>>3793175Spamton gave her a Pipis mod for catpetterz since she would respond to his spam mail.
>>3793173It scales better with attack. The formula is Attack * 11 + Magic * 5
Obviously you want to max out both as much as you can, but attack has over doble the influence of magic. However her UltimateHeal scales better off Magic in Chapter 4 once it becomes BetterHeal. Magic * 7 + 15 (and + 30 if you grind out her separate Healing stat)
>>3793181For reference, when optimising this Rude Buster can do close to 500 damage
And optimising her heal can make it get to nearly 160 HP healed. Aside from the TP cost, she actually gets a really strong heal by the end of Chapter 4
Holy shit Muffet does makes a cameo
>>3793168>>3793174Perfectly understandable. So here's how I see things: You've got two different teams here.
You've got Team Prophecy/SMT Law, who want to keep things on track and are probably associated with the Annoying White Dog. Their goal is to make sure the prophecy plays out as it's supposed to, primarily through the containment of the SOUL (the only entity with true free will through the connection with the Angel/you). Motives are unknown, but looking at things optimistically perhaps it's in order for things to get a guaranteed mostly-happy ending. This includes Kris for sure and probably the Knight, and going by how the Annoying Dog railroaded you into going to the library in Chapter 2 they're probably actively working with it too.
Then you've got Team Freedom/SMT Chaos, associated with the Friendly Black Cat. Their goal is to subvert the prophecy and free the SOUL from the cage. Recruitment for Team Freedom seems to involve an encounter with FRIEND, who lifts the veil and teaches the recruit how the world really works. So far, every Freedom Schizo except Gerson has had a strong association with FRIEND.
1. Jevil was recruited by Seam, who as a handpuppet cat that remembers saves (should be impossible for anyone who only exists on the Deltarune layer, as that's handled on the DEVICE layer) is almost certainly FRIEND somehow. Either by literally being worn by FRIEND, or simply being a puppet like Spamton was becoming.
2. FRIEND was the one giving Spamton advice on the phone.
3. Ramb is sitting next to the vending machine with FRIEND in it in the backroom.
I don't think that the Freedom Schizos are actually supposed to be the ones who get the hadow Crystals. The Knight may or may not be bringing them in, but...something about the whole thing feels off. Specifically, about how Spamton got his - he found it inside NEO, which is something he wasn't supposed to get, or even know about.
...but I digress.
>>3793189 (cont)
One way or another they're collecting the Shadow Crystals then passing them on to you, so you can pass them on to Seam for whatever purpose he's going to use them for (the Pure Crystal?).
There's still a lot of unknowns about the whole scenario, but this is how I see the board is laid out. You've got order playing white on the chessboard, and chaos playing black.
>>3793177I rly hope we can combine the devilsknife with the hammer so the knife doesnt become obsolete
>>3793196Knife is still optimal for maximizing Red Buster damage due to the TP discount, and the magic boost improves her healing. Assuming chapter 5 doesn't just toss reduced TP fights at everyone the entire game, it'll still be very useful.
>>3793175Probably FRIEND stuff.
>>3793175Definitely FRIEND stuff, since she ran into it while playing Cat Petterz.
>>3793185>Noelle hates spiders.
>>3793189The Player isn't the Angel.
>>3793198Should say Rude Buster, although I guess it applies to Red Buster too when we get it.
>>3793208Nope, Knife doesn't reduce Red Buster cost, but it still benefits from the attack boost
>>3793189>>3793195I could see Seam being FRIEND, or maybe them once being the same person before they were separated ala Gaster being scattered across time and space. But he can't be the Strange Someone desu, I just think it would be too much of a mislead for Toby to have Seam talk about the Strange Someone who recruited Jevil in the third person.
Although for me, whoever is working against and for the Prophecy sort of rests on two questions.
Although I think the general framework of Pro and anti-prophecy factions are correct. Unless it's something like two different parties trying to manipulate the prophecy to different ends.
Gaster made the prophecy. It's his Deltarune. The prophecy is the Legend of Deltarune. He's the first to quote it, too.
>>3793215>But he can't be the Strange Someone desu, I just think it would be too much of a mislead for Toby to have Seam talk about the Strange Someone who recruited Jevil in the third person.See, I thought that too, and then I saw what King had to say about Jevil in Chapter 4:
>* It was he, the clown, that told me the Knight's brilliance...>* About the fountains' glory, and how I would rise to power.>* Funny little man. How his jokes and dances made us chuckle.>* A shame he had to be tricked away, by his closest companion.>* The magician, Seam, whose smile has gone empty since that day.It might just be me, but I don't really think this matches up with the way that Jevil and Seam told the story? According to the story we got in chapter 1, the Kings got sick of Jevil and tasked Seam with locking him up. But to hear it from King, it almost seems like Seam had in fact decieved and betrayed Jevil of his own volition.

Beautiful morning for kris and susie fans.
>>3793227>But to hear it from King, it almost seems like Seam had in fact decieved and betrayed Jevil of his own volition.I dont get that impression at all anon, this seem pretty on part with what Seam said in ch1.

>>3793242what website is that?
>>3793246https://bsky.app/profile/tobyfox.undertale.com/post/3lsqs5ild5c2u
>>3793231>>3793242>I wonWhat is this supposed to mean in this context?
>>3793264Kris is his self-insert.
>>3793264When you're a writer and you have an image in your mind about how the characters would interact, but you can't put everything in your work. The fact that fans understand perfectly how they would interact shows you were successful in conveying what you had in mind.
>>3789749With the last Shadow Crystal being in Chapter 5, I'm betting the last egg will be there as well and we'll have another break with the chapter patterns. It seems like a good point to reveal a bunch of stuff as well, leave us on a cliff hanger right as a pre-climax reveal happens and the story shifts into its final act.
I wouldn't be surprised if whatever happens next chapter causes the Roaring and then we have to play through something similar to the World from the Freedom Edition AU. The prophecy does say the Roaring will happen and the Heroes will arrive after it happens.
>>3789936Shuttah implies that the weird cliff areas are the natural state of the Darkworld. Tenna's power turned the world into his stage/set and that probably has to do with Kris' intention of having Tenna explicitly be the boss.
Overwriting the natural state of whatever a Dreemurr house darkworld would be into the TV World.
>>3793231..."Your" head?
With how much emphasis he puts on the word "You" throughout both games, and the fact he definitely had the idea of Kris and The Player being two different people at the start, I wonder which one he was talking about
>>3793264I think someone wrote a fanfic back in 2018 and, according to toby himself just now, Susie would totally do what that person wrote. Meaning he won because his writing skills conveyed Susie's character with clarity, and people understand her.
>>3793352You still get "You did whatever" narration when Kris does something. The piano scene in the church dark world is a good example. It says "You take a deep breath and play the piano" but it's Kris pushing aside your control and doing it himself.
>>3793361But there's also the snowgrave NEO fight where it specifies that Kris calles out for his other friends, whereas (You) whisper Noelle's name. And then in the fighting dojo where the tutorials are directed at (You) and Kris is just refered to as Kris
Art like Toby describes has existed for a long time, I downloaded that image in 2021, but he only shows that fact off now, at the point where we know pretty much everyone except the player (on a normal route) is going against Susie, including Kris. Could be coincidence, but it's caught my attention anyway
>>3793363Toby just isn't very consistent on who the Narrator is and who Character's are addressing is just as inconsistent. Even with Chara seemingly being the Narrator in Undertale its very inconsistent.
At the end of the day it means something when it means something and doesn't when it doesn't. You just kind of have to take it on a case by case basis. But for the time being, Toby Deltarune is the narrator and characters will reefer to you, (you), and Kris in increasingly confusing ways.
>>3793363Snowgrave marks deeper divide between (You) and Kris. In normal route, dialogue options can be explained as Kris' intrusive thoughts, but in Snowgrave (You) go and outright reveal yourself to Noelle
>>3793305I think we will be going into the Gooner Vessel at the start of Chapter 6. Kris will be promoted into the next Knight.
>>3793363"You" refer to both Kris and (You) outside of the times Toby purposely separates you two like in the Knight fight (Where the CHECK says Kris pointed ahead).
>>3793380do you think youโre smart for pointing out the obvious samefag thatโs been around since CH3+4 have been announced
>>3793380our FUCKING goon hero
>>3793381>Do I think I'm smart for pointing out the obvious? No, it's obvious for a reason.
I just think its funny.
Does Ralsei recognize Kris's room? This would be an odd thing to say otherwise
>>3793443Anon Ralsei managed to recreate Kris's room in the dark castle
>>3793469>666th post in threadDamn. That's Gaster aura.
>>3793465Not only that but he knows that Kris wished they had as many prizes as Asriel.
This is why the headband theory makes so much more sense to me, dude just inherently knows Kris's innermost desires, while Susie is just content with having her own room
>>3793380Some people are just dedicated to a specific preference without going full sperg over it and expecting people to kowtow to said prefences
It's nice desu
>>3793504Yeah, yeah. I don't discount the possibility of him being a plushie or a crayon or whatever, but it's just less interesting to me personally, because nothing is really gained from it being true other than the satisfaction of correctly picking up on the clues. Whereas the headband theory actually gives meaning behind Ralsei's object being a secret to begin with -- because it would give insight to his and Kris's character.
It's whatever, I'm not married to this theory, I don't care if people have gripes with it or if they believe it religiously.
So, yes, anon. I know he's a plushie of Asriel's. Unless... What if he is a headbande?
>>3793504p.s: it's anagram, not anygram
>>3793528NTA, but I like the theory because I honestly find the idea of Dess doing something that's so entirely out of her wheelhouse like making a plushie for the one she loves really endearing.
It also makes Ralsei begging the Knight to stop doing what she's doing doubly kino, because it's the last fragment of Asriel begging Dess to come to her senses.
>>3793538And I'd say "an anagram"
>>3793528The biggest problem with the headband is the red horn gate in the second chapter 3 secret game section.
As well as the red antlions that are called fangs of youth, also in the chapter 3 game sections.
So we have two other candidates that are more directly the red horned head band.
>>3793538Ur mom's anagram!
>>3793528>because it would give insight to his and Kris's characterCompletely wrong insight. The whole theory was hinging on the fact that he wanted to be like Ralsei, when in the reality he was nothing like him, and he looked up to Dess instead.
>>3793543Don't forget that he can't be a headband because no Darkners who had long history with Kris recognize him, even though they should've.
>>3793540As some anon pointed out, every theory should account for storytelling aspect. Like, would it actually look interesting if presented in the game? The problem is, headband, crayon and other random junk do not make for an interesting reveal. Meanwhile I first conceived this theory on the emotional level, by imagining a good scene that could fit the tone of the game, and only after that the clues started pouring in from other anons. I have to confess, I completely missed the "pile of fluff" connection at first, and ironically enough some headbandfag actually tried to use it as counterargument when I was first suggested the plushie idea ("he can't be a plushie, he breaks into a pile of fluff when swooned!")
I've convinced that part of the reason why Ralsei is special and the reason why he refuses to enter the light world even as an object is because he's actually multiple objects taped together. So if you took him out and the objects separated and you brought them back in, they'd separate into two separate darkners. So like, maybe he is the headband taped to a written copy of the Prophecy.
>>3793540That is pretty cool, yeah. Maybe a bit too early for me to buy it fully, but I like it still.
>>3793543Yeah, we headband bros did not eat good in this last batch of chapters. But I still like the theory for the reasons I said before, even if the theory is pretty much debunked.
>>3793564>The whole theory was hinging on the fact that he wanted to be like Ralsei, when in the reality he was nothing like him, and he looked up to Dess instead.I get this, but I don't think these are mutually exclusive. I don't like to do these conjunctures over fictional characters, but in my head, a younger Kris wished he was like the rest of his family, who all seem so perfect and nice and helpful, but as he grew older and it sank in that he was adopted, he looked up to Dess as a rebellious figure instead, and that's why he is so okay with being the creepy weird kid.
>Don't forget that he can't be a headband because no Darkners who had long history with Kris recognize him, even though they should've.What? Ramb? Tenna?
>>3793587>What? Ramb? Tenna? And Queen and King since Kris and Noelle used to play with them.
>>3793597That's right, Tenna specifically says that kris brought the "laptop from the library" (ie, Queen) home to play
>>3793538Susie would say anygram honestly
>>3793646>What, like that app where you post pictures of yourself eating?
I just realized something - is Rouxls the only character with an animated dialogue portrait? I noticed him gesticulating right inside the dialogue boxe in chaptereth threesome.
>>3793710Yeah, he's the only one who speaks in hands
>>3793714The plotte thickeneth!
>>3793564I feel like a small addtional piece of evidence is Ralsei's irl inspiration, a character Toby's brother made in rpg maker named Ralse. With Ralse having an annoying little-brother-type personality to mimic what his older brother thought of him at the time.
So if Plush theory was true, this would make Ralsei's creation in and out of universe line up. Ralsei was inspired by Toby's brother making an effigy-character of him, and so in universe Dess and Kris ended up making an effigy character of Asriel.
Well, the /v/ thread certainly went... places.
>>3793797Perhaps the jannies were trying to protect us from this. They knew the prophecy would reveal the truth to us and break our minds.

>>3793008Glad you liked it anon!
>>3793587Another, also unlikely possibility is that Ralsei is a Goner. Although now that we know how widespread information about the prophecy is, Ralsei doesn't NEED a connection to Gaster to have prophecy knowledge, as there are other sources for it now.
There's also the fact we do meet a Darkner who's also a Goner in Deltarune and Ralsei doesn't show the same traits as it. If you don't know what I'm talking about the Castle Town Rudinn who knows your name and tracks how happy your castle town is, alludes to being a Goner. Unlike the other Rudinn his color changes and he talks about how his color is fading in later chapters, which lines up with what the Seven Flying Aces tell us.
>Photocopies are monochrome, but you colored us in with care.Which is a rather on the nose allusion to Goners.
But Ralsei never fades in color and we have no reason to believe being a Goner would make a Darkner immune to the turning into a statue. So I think that theory is a soft debunked.
>>3793853Posting the updated version of this here.

did they start deleting the threads again
>>3793902Yeah, we dug too deep and it scared the jannies
>>3793902And that's a good thing. The quality was in the negatives.
>>3793896Not necessarily, meta-textually. Meta-knowledge is prophecy knowledge. The prophecy is an in universe video game script, just like how fate consists of the actions of people in a deterministic world, the characters in a video game are limited to a script and even us the player can only interact with the game in predetermined fashions. (Unless you mod it of course.)
The characters who all the most about the prophecy all act as if they have a degree of meta-knowledge. There is also the fact that the Red Soul who controls Kris is diegetic to the World of Deltarune, weโre some type of entity from outside the world who was summoned into it.
To add to this point, Jigsaw Joe and Swatch, both refer to the player as a separate entity(albeit without naming you)
>>3793908There's already a thread up.

>>3794138>Are the 8moe threads still alive?Should be
Undertale and Deltarune are popular enough that people are liable to to be talking about it on moe. Doubly so if it's the kind of people who can't stand the /vg/ threads.
Apparently, Undertale threads are fine? We had an unmolested one earlier on, and now another one seems to be thriving among the storm. I guess it's enough of a cultural phenomenon.
>>3794129yeah honestly i cant even be mad about mine (
>>3794130) because of how hysterical it all is at this point.
banning random posters, banning posters for pointing out how /vg/ is trash, LOCKING the fucking thread (they never lock shit)
wouldnt be surprised if the mod's behind the /v/hu raid too
its an actual fucking tantrum thats been going on for WEEKS, all because [0.5%] of the board's space being take up by something thats not political, AI, porn, or AAA.
and go ahead, give me another global for [complaining about 4chan moderation]
we already had the weekly yellow thread on friday so i have no real reason to talk here for more than three days, and if you give me anything more than that i'll be able to appeal it (said appeal will most likely go through because its obvious that its only you having this meltdown, given the large 6-10 hour blocks of DR threads not being nuked)
>>3794147Undertale is the better game confirmed.
>>3794134there really aren't any greener pastures. all the alt chans suck.
I've thought about how a more modern 4chan alternative would work for years, then found out the Kiwi fag owner tried out something similar to what I was thinking of (anonymous imageboard + web forum hybrid site) out and abandoned it almost immediately because of IRL CP spam, 24/7.
>>3794157Greener pastures might be an overselling (more like slightly sunbaked and dehydrated grass over a literal salt flat) but the point still stands that there are options out there for better posting experiences.
Some of them blow chunks, like the shart and anything touched by kiwifarms/Something Awful, but there are useable options. It's just a matter of people being too familiar and used to 4chan that it's hard to get people to dip their toes into something different, and in turn that ends up killing off a lot of those alternatives (if they don't get CPblasted by raging schizos first)
>>3794157>all the alt chans suck.It was truly impressive watching alt chans go from 2 posts per hour to 4 posts per hour after 4chan was literally shot in the head and gone for an entire month. There is no alternative. 4chan is the only one.
>>3794161>>3794162I was part of the exodus during gamergategate debacle fiasco. I went back eventually after I learned that 4chan is the worst imageboard except all the others.
>>3794134like how /vg/ is where discussion goes to die, altchans are where anonymous communities go to die.
the problem is that there is no organic flow to them, nobody really comes in to replace the posters that lose interest.
eventually all you're left with is a handful of hyper autistic territorial tribal anons that are impossible to integrate with.

>>3793710Noelle and Toriel used to have animated dialogue portraits (lip flaps when they were talking) but Chapter 2+ took them out for some reason
(Most likely laziness)
>>3794194Speaking of T-Rank, how the hell does it even work for the Rock minigame? I managed to do a perfect run with no missing notes and I thought that'd be it but I guess you have to also hit every gold note too? Damn.
>>3794217Make sense, they've replaced talking animations with just having a fuckillion portraits for every emotion.
>>3794218I don't think so, I did it yesterday and I even missed a note or two.
I think as long as you get mostly gold notes, and you only fuck up at the start or end of the song (so you get a higher combo) that would be enough for a T-rank.
>>3794217 (me)
>>3794219Actually I just checked Chapter 4 and Toriel still has it?
So it's just Noelle who had her mouth movement privileges revoked.
Thought they both got changed to static portraits, but I guess it's just Noelle who needed to switch from "moving portrait" to "fucktillion portraits for every emotion" because she's more prominent in the story and expressive than Toriel
>>3793564Adding to this, Ralsei's default answers on Tenna's firegrave board are.
>NEVER THROWN AWAY>UNUSEDWhich would describe himself, and Ralsei does have a habit of projecting his own issues onto others. Like how he projects his own helplessness onto Susie in Chapter 4.

Did Alvin actually take his dad's corpse-dust-hammer out of his fucking grave years after he died?
>>3794238Imagine if they took the hammer to Castle Town
>>3794238Yes. He's talking to the grave the previous day, being conflicted about *something* and the one new piece of information we were given about monster funerals is that they bury them in this universe and that it is an integral part of their belief system that they did so.
Why else would Toby add those details if he wasn't implying Alvin dug the grave up?
>>3794240I can only hope they don't, would cheapen gerson's character so much.
>>3794252Yeah, I was mainly just thinking of how fucked up it'd be for them to just, steal the equivalent of some guy's dead body and bring it to their wacky closet world
Speaking of Gerson. I wonder how will Alvin react once he finds the letter.
>>3794258I wanna know what the hammer he gave susie is in the light world. It cant be the hammer he was buried with, thats still in the case after getting it
>>3794259I'm betting it's his personal pen. A white one.
>>3794259Calligraphy brush, so it's both a brush and a writing implement.
>>3794259A copy of Lord of the Hammer?
>>3794238clearly he just never buried it in the first place and regrets not burying it
I appreciate how the story is taking itself seriously now, but I can't help but feel a bit sad that it probably means no more Rouxls encounters
I guess you could say Rouxls's absence in 4 could be because there's no "ruler" in it for him to suck up to, and that he could return in 5 trying to convince Asgore to make a throuple with him and Toriel or something, but I wouldn't count on it
>>3794293>he could return in 5 trying to convince Asgore to make a throuple with him and Toriel or somethingI think Asgore would just kill him then and there, and thats the excuse for him to never show up to break tension in 6/7
>>3794295that would cause some huge relationship shift tho if that ever happened
despite being somewhat played as a joke, Lancer sees Rouxls as a father figure so you can just imagine the sheer anger that would erupt on Susie
>>3794297Then assuming Asgore is a king in the dark world, the more likely scenario is he just immediately orders his execution, plain and simple, but he gets out of it later by some means (maybe he just asks kris to bring him back to castle town) and he stops trying entirely after that
>>3794293personally i think roulx should keep appearing even as the story gets more serious
the gang losing their shit when he teleports in halfway through chapter 7 and does nothing but serve as a distraction.
once the battle is done, the roaring has already started and he only manages a "oopseth" before turning to stone.
>>3794293I think chapter 5 will backpedal a bit on the darkness before going all in in the ending. That being said, I wonder what's in the cards for Castletown. It seemed like it was rushed and unfinished in chapter 4, but there's also a feeling of it being under a massive renovation, so it may have been intentional. At very least we should be looking forward towards cluttering Ralsei's room with more random junk.
>>3794317Watch Toby pull a mother 3 and have chapter 7 be half as long as the rest of the chapters.
>Janny mass-banning again
Guess I got lucky his terrible sleep schedule finally descyned with mine.
You'd think there'd be a way to report generals if they're this important right?
>>3794362Oh shit, they're banning everyone in the threads now?
>>3794365Apparently he was about 10 hours ago
>>3794317I think Post Chapter 5/pre-chapter 6 is the last time we'll go to it, or maybe it'll come to us.
Anyways aside from the extra space in the second level of the castle. This other point may be kind of silly but, Malleus says he hasn't been able to learn bread-making due to his gluten intolerance.
While Chapter 5 is the fields of pink and gold, with the Egg Man implying he's going to be there to harvest wheat for his donuts. Top Chef also mentions how he'll finally be moving into the bakery and is excited to bake again.
So if Malleus needs a wheat master and a wheat master is set up to appear next chapter, and Top Chef is looking forward to start making items again. Then I think we're gonna get an upgraded bakery after chapter 5, possibly with more item fusions but definitely with Top Chef and maybe others selling consumables.
Part of this is just my desire to access more shopkeepers past chapters. So the chapter 5 guy could move into the bakery while the other past vendors would re-open their inventory.
HOLY FUCK THE HUMANFAG MIGHT BE A JANNY, WHEN I SAID NO ONE CARES ABOUT FRISK AND CHARA HE SAID IT WAS NICE POSTING HERE AND THE THREAD WAS INSTANTLY DELETED, WHAT THE FUCK

Damn. Also the janny is totally the hallmonitor that whines about avatarfags btw.
>>3794452There was two humanfags in the thread. Me and the other guy (pic related). Maybe the second one is the janny.
>>3794452I think a lot of people had started to notice a correlation between them showing up and threads getting deleted, but I always thought that was just because people kept reporting them since avatarfagging is against the rules.
>>3794456>>3794454Yeah sounds about right. Good job charafag, you've been obvious enough to be turned into a false flag attack.
>>3794455I also don't like avatarfagging but I also try to not post about it or interact with them at all as it is usually the best course of action

>>3794457I think the second humanfag might be a janny. Sucks that he's making other humanposters like me look bad.
>>3794458I am not a Charafag...
>>3794464>FeedingLet the retards point fingers anon. The janny is literally just an autist and wouldn't be deleting threads if he actually participated in them.
Jannies are subhumans, and talking about subhumans, apparently Reddit found some encrypted files in the game
Deltarune seems to store some hidden texts as XOR-encrypted byte sequences instead of plain text.
This is never visible through a normal string search, and seems to be designed to be displayed through an XOR decryption operation in a specific code when the game is running.
Although it is not a confirmed "appearance line", it is a very meaningful text as a legendary line in the story and a record of Gaster.
>>3794464Humanfag, whatever. Either way you've made yourself into a target for whenever the janny's having a melty. Just lay low for a while so it's obvious when the janny shows up. I'd prefer you cut it out entirely, but at least try to hold off for a few days?

>>3794452>>3794458>HE SAID IT WAS NICE POSTING HERE AND THE THREAD WAS INSTANTLY DELETED, WHAT THE FUCKI was the one who posted that and I simply meant what I said unironically because I'm fucking sick of scum-of-the-earth attention-whoring avatarfags shitting up all the threads. >>3794520>attack with a photo of SusieI wonder what enemy this was intended for.
>>3794538That's my only guess. Taking photos of the heroes and using them against them sounds fun.
The axe attack in the video seems bullshit hard so I'd think it was scrapped pretty early on.
>>3794520God, I really wish he would make a hard mode with all those unused attacks after Deltarune is done.
>>3794520last attack would've malded me so hard
>>3794541>forgetting the "hard mode" of Undertaleat best, it will only be for the first chapter and nothing more
>>3794543Well, he had better things to do after Undertale was finished, but Deltarune is gonna be his magnum opus, I don't believe he has another great idea that will completely surpass it. Might as well start tying the loose ends afterwards.
>>3794541>>3794543>>3794544I think Toby intentionally isn't going for a separate "hard mode" in his games, and I agree with him. A separate mode wouldn't offer anything more in terms of the story and the overall experience. It's challenging enough to be enjoyable by a lot of people, and everyone can connect over the experience. If you want something with harder gameplay, you're better off playing Touhou.
>>3794546But at very least a boss gallery of sorts would be nice to have. To play the rematches, with cut attacks and stuff.
>>3794546I'd agree, but Undertale's hard mode really had me wanting to play it because it didn't just make enemies do more damage or make the patterns harder. It had entirely new common enemies, and in a sense that made replaying the ruins alone a lot more memorable an experience even if the boss fights themselves weren't harder. It made me excited to actually walk around and see new things.
That's all I want from an Undertale hard mode. Some new enemies, a couple of altered overworld jokes poking fun at it being hard mode, and maybe a joke at the end of true pacifist where Asriel gets confused on you not being "Frisk" but another Frisk of the same name. Or even having Frisk saying their name is Frisk 2 instead. Anything really. I literally would not care if the bosses don't change.
>>3794578Understandable, but this is one of the cases where a good designer can distinguish between something that "could be a neat idea" and something that actually fits into the project's identity. I personally prefer games with 1 difficulty setting.
>>3794550I don't think this is going to happen, but this would be fun to have at the end of the last chapter (depending on how it ends, of course).
Just watched Joel's chapter 4 finale, glad to see he actually has empathy, and actually got into theories to the point he pricks up his ears every time pink and yellow is mentioned, too bad he didn't pay attention to Gerson enough and believes Toby to be some kind of subverter of expectations who's going to make a "You need to be evil for good outcome" twist. Also someone should've told him that doing Snowgrave streams are kinda pointless right now since the big payoff is scheduled for chapter 5 at least.
Anyway, few things I noticed about Ralsei when watching it.
>even after talking with Susie about honesty, Ralsei tells her there are still some things he can't talk about
>Ralsei was the one who suggested the idea that Knight is powerless in Light World
>some vague hints about Prophecy knowledge being planted in his head
>just realized that he is never present at any Fountain closing ceremony, and always stays behind
>>3794152It'll probably end when he inevitably pisses off another boards moderators. For a short while a few weeks ago, the famitsu threads kept getting moved to /biz/. Stopped when the /biz/ mods told them to knock it off.

well since we're way past post limit but still have plenty of image space, I'll ask the same question here: Would you guys be okay with a throuple ending? Would you like it, or would you find it lame/bad?
>>3794717Only if there's a good and satisfying narrative reason why Ralsei can't be a real boy, and even then it's only because Noelle would take his place as the ineffective straight man of the dumbass trio.
>>3794719I think I'd agree, it's sad to see how many people have already mentally replaced Ralsei with Noelle.
Though sadly, I don't expect the game to end with Ralsei becoming a real boy.
>>3794717Only if it's a genuine triangle and not just both simping for Susie and ignoring each other, and even then i'd be displeased since i personally can't see any kind of polygamous relationship working outside of fetish shit.
>>3794717If this was still chapter 1-2 era, I could maybe live with it given that they all seemed to like each other, but now with Noelle trying to downplay her relationship with Kris purely to sound more avaliable for Susie, I think I'd hate it more than just suselle on it's own. I already see polyamory as a way to make cheating socially acceptable, and having it after that just makes it feel even moreso. Just give Kris Catty or something at that point, literally anything is better than forcing him into the permanent third wheel position
>>3794734Doesn't have to be Kris that is the third wheel, I think Toby's smart enough to know that he's intentionally writing Noelle to be fake right now, and sooner rather than later that will come to get her. I think it will be possible for Kris and Noelle to reconcile, even in the normal route.
>>3794717genuinely disappointed
even ignoring how much of a shithead noelle is or how suselle is fundamentally flawed, polyamory just doesnt work out at the end of the day and its nothing more than a fetish.

Behold, Kris' one true love.
>>3794739>and its nothing more than a fetish.
>>3794738Even still, the fact she did it at all means she clearly doesnt value her friendship with him. Thats not something you just forgive your way through, after that making them poly would just sound like a consolation that's barely thought out. Plus Weird Route shows all her interest is completely superficial, if someone else came by that was scarier than either of them she'd want out immediately, or worse try to bring them in too. Either stick to your guns and make the toxic yuri and let Kris step away from the blast zone, or just let the gremlins be gremlins together without the extra fetish shit bolted on

It's literally impossible for the Justice Axe to be the "terrible weapon" in Gerson's prophecy
You only get it if you go through the secret boss quest, right?
So the fact you're able to NOT get it has to mean the prophecy wasn't referring to the axe.
I've seen some people say the "terrible weapon" is hope which sounds pretty cool not gonna lie
>>3794855The letter
terrible may not equal bad quality
>>3794855it's terrible as in terribly strong illiterate dumbass
>>3794855"Terrible" when describing weapons i often about their power being so strong it can cause "terrible" detruction, it's basic fantasy writing

>The heroes travel among the islands and catch a glimpse of a lost land."Lost land" is tied to the Sword Route
>A great smith gives the heroes a terrible weapon.Axe.
That being said, I like the "Hope" idea.

>>714266405 Saw this in the /v/ thread and wanted to ask, if this reposing FRIEND was made by Gaster but then started working for the Knight? The same Knight which this proposes is the Goner Sessel inhabited by Dess?
Because the Knight is totally the one making the shadow crystals, and the person who talked to Jevil and Spamton was working on behalf of the knight.
The Knight is probably also the person who was pulling Spamton's strings
>It pulls the strings and makes them ring.>(Feels like guitar strings...) [When attempting to equip the Puppet Scarf to Noelle]Dess is the only person in the story who plays the guitar, and is probably the knight, the narration refers to the person pulling the strings as an it...etc

>>3794943Yeah I just showed back up to the thread and I was confused as fuck when I saw that people were yelling at me for "misunderstanding the terrible part" when that wasn't the point of the post at all?
The point was that the axe can't be the weapon in the prophecy because you're able to miss it, thus the smith NOT giving the heroes any weapon, not anything about the terrible descriptor
Did they read past the first sentence?
>>3794948what about the others?

Anyway, it was a good observation, anon.
>>3795151It's irritating that people keep missing that Gerson's chapters are not completely accurate foretellings of what happens in the game, and that the reason for that is because Gerson keeps pushing the "fuck the prophecy, write your own story" stance throughout the entire chapter. All these debates over who the girl is supposed to be and what the inferno of jealousy is going to be are completely missing the point.
>>3795296He doesn't even mention Tenna aka the Lord of Screens.

>>3794624out of curiosity, is the stream pretty good?
I wanna binge watch Joel's deltarune play-through but I might get pissed off on how much chat tries to backseat the stream
>>3795576It's good. Streamers need a chemistry with the game for the stream to be good, and Joel is really invested into the plot and characters.
>how much chat tries to backseat the streamEh, normal amount for that type of game. I heard it got worse during chapter 3 replay, but I only watched it in fragments. Then again, during the Ralsei scene he immediately guessed the right answer but began doubting himself and ended up asking the chat because he thought it might be a "glass him" moment, so at this point any backseating is self-inflicted.
