>I do wonder why Misty is a Rogue/Ninja instead of a Rogue/Assassin.
I think it's a casualty of the planned third tier classes. Heixing and Giselle would have had access to Assassin masteries via Dark Sniper and Dark Ranger, and by making Misty a new class it means they wouldn't have been bloated with tons of ESP-related masteries they can't make use of. I bet the knife throwing and Hide-related Ninja masteries were originally Assassin masteries. I would have liked to have Misty using Fire Support/Overwatch with her knife throws though.
>I guess they wanted to introduce at least one entirely new class in the dlc, which is understandable, but from a lore perspective, someone needed to have taught her those ninjutsu, and that certainly wasn't the Assassin Child training facility.
I'm not sure why you say that. Mash was trained as a White Mage and Ninja is just a stealthy WM.

The biggest sin of Misty's ninja class is that its so shit unless you go all in on knife throw perma invis shenanigans. All of the ESP stuff is cool as shit and you can make some proper fun builds but it will still get outshined by other builds.

Ninja's design is fucked on multiple levels
>Water Release is deliberately shitty unless you slot in like eight different masteries just to reach the power of Irene's Somersault that she's had since the start of the game
>Healing ninjutsu is ludicrously powerful, but nobody needs that much healing
>Mist ninjutsu comes at the point where enemies have infinite accuracy, and while healing fog is always handy, Ray can put it down from much longer range without any investment into her masteries.
The only thing that's kind of cool is her shadow ninjutsu, except Ninja doesn't have any SP-focused masteries and can't memedodge like Rogue so you need to slot in Awaken on a class that already wants more Ability and Defence slots than it has.
Permahide is pretty much the only thing going for it, and yet I still see pretty much a 50/50 split between Ninja and Rogue Misty in PVP.

Its been a while since I tried to make ESP misty work so I can't list everything wrong with it but what stuck out to me most was the complete absence of support for it in the masteries. Shaman masteries suck for Ninja, her mastery sets do barely anything for her while costing tons of slots, and despite the class having unique ninjitsu skills knife throw has way more support from mastery sets.

Something I realised during my latest playthrough even after so many hours: Your units' attack range is capped to their sight. This is especially relevant to Giselle because her basic everyday snipe attack has more range than she has sight. Her personal mastery that provides +2 sight +1 night sight is calculated exactly to make up the difference and is effectively +2 range.
Here's Giselle with Gunbarrel Reinforcement + Eyes of Cruel Sky, giving her 17 listed range on her Snipe. But because she only has 14 Night Sight and Blind reducing her vision by 5 (to 9 total) she can only fire at targets within 9 tiles, including through masteries like Fire Support.
That's why almost every enemy sniper in the game uses night vision goggles - so they can benefit from their full range without getting hard capped by vision.

I don't have a deck, but the game's biggest bottlenecks are RAM and GPU, especially if you're playing offline.
>long loading times
GPU-related. When I swapped out the graphics card in my PC my loading times went from 2+ minutes to 10-15 seconds
>game stutters badly when skills/sound effects happen
RAM-related. Playing online helps with this because when you play locally the game runs a full server instance on your PC and eats another 4-6GB of RAM.
>low FPS with lots of field effects (electricity, smoke, etc)
This is a universal problem with the game, no amount of tweaking will fix it.
>low FPS in general
GPU-related. Could try reducing the graphics settings. Typically AA and shadows are the most intensive things. The game also lets you downscale the 3d resolution which makes your game look like multiple anons' screenshots but provides a massive quick&dirty boost to performance.

I'm enjoying having to be very particular about spending my TP so far. The enemies are much stronger than me other than Sion who is carrying hard, but Albus and Irene with Defensive Choice and block stacking are also important for keeping shit away from him.

At the time it was determined an absolute meme and not worth doing.
However
Today it clicked to me that the same principle also applies to the machine version, which is a much more powerful mastery. You can make some numerically hilariouos drones by paying attention to it.

I have a few questions about masteries, wonder if anyone here can clarify. Some of these I'm just too lazy to test myself, others I have no idea how to reliably test for myself.
>Lunatic Beast
The description of the mastery set says it reinforces Indomitable Will by reducing damage by 20% if under rage state. So does this mean the 20% reduction when enraged is only applied when Indomitable Will is active, i.e. below 1/3 HP, or does it just give the damage reduction when you are enraged regardless of health?
>any mastery that gives bonuses for equipped class masteries without specifying which class
Does it mean *any* class mastery, or only masteries that are belonging to the same class as that?
So in the case of Trained Attack, would this mean I get the damage and AT reduction only for other Fighter masteries, or for any other class masteries as well, like Martial Artist and Battlemage?
>Traces of Blood
If the first attack applies bleeding, does that bleeding increases the chance of Bladestorm happening?
>Retaliation and Combo Attack
Does the "always hit" bypass responsive attack dodging effects like Lightning Reflexes and Perfect Draki's Scale?
>any multi-hit that applies Armor Break / Bruise or other damage increase debuff
If the first hit(s) apply the debuff, do the additional hits benefit from the debuff?
Say, Sweeper Heixing uses Annihilation Shot on a destructron and the first four hits stack Armor Break, do the remaining seven hits deal full damage?
>any mastery that benefits from applied debuff when that debuff is applied on a single-hit
For example, Flames of Regeneration. If a single-hit attack applies burning, does the applier still get the healing bonus? Or does it have to be applied before using the attack?
>Upgrade Grenade
Since Ray's basic attack technically comes from her equipped item, does the base damage increase also apply to that?
>Inspire
Does the damage buff apply for each stack in the case of stackable buffs like Chance to Win?

>Lunatic Beast
Happens all the time while in a rage state. When it's got text like that it's an additional effect, not necessarily an extension of the original mastery unless it says otherwise.
>unspecified class masteries
They count all of them of all types, including class-related mastery sets and the always-on class mastery.
>Traces of Blood
Yeah it does
>Retaliation and Combo Attack
They do. Always hit/crit takes priority over always dodge in this game. There's a very, very lategame Rogue mastery set that nullifies them, however.
>multi-hits interacting with debuffs
They do. The hits are all calculated one at a time, sequentially.
>single hits benefiting from debuffs they themselves have applied
They do, as long as the attack doesn't one-shot the enemy. They have to survive the hit to become debuffed for the benefits to apply.
>Upgrade Grenade applying to Ray's basic attack
It doesn't. That would be hilarious if it did, but no.
>Inspire
I'm 99.9% sure it doesn't count stacks, but I'm probably going to have to make a build to test whether that's actually the case. Even though there are sets to boost the percentage, 2% is pretty low even for a 1-point mastery.

My only comment on it is that it might not be worth it outside of Limit Break, I haven't tried to make that work. Also it's probably pretty good while leveling with some work since the Masteries are all gotten off of leveling classes.

imo it's better to start with frontliners because ranged characters are simply better in games like this, as melee characters have to close distance but that takes up time which can be used to attack instead. So it creates a phase of the game where your best units are all on a level playing field. Later on your team can pull off so many ludicrous screen-clearing or sniping antics that the melee users get kinda left behind. (sometimes literally because they're just too slow)

Hacker does more than just hack stuff. They get damage + defence from having unused protocols, their protocols cost 1AP less, and they get massively reduced cast delay. They also have access to Thief masteries so they can get Quick Thief and stuff.
Engineer hits much harder and has access to Consecutive Attack, but they can't reduce their protocols' cast delay or AP usage so as soon as she does anything she's stuck with a 40 AT delay (80 if she nukes).

On White Mage I never took Shukuchi off of her because so much of her kit benefits from her taking turns as fast as possible and the extra movement helps a lot for her auras too. Hacking takes over 1 enemy permanently for the map, unless they have the mastery that ends it after 5 turns. Ironically I think Engineer is more worthwhile as a hacking class because while its success rates aren't as high, whatever you hack benefits from all the broken-as-fuck Engineer masteries intended for your own drones. It turns regular ordinary Remodelled Bicrons into boss-raping super units, and hacking a boss is pretty much an automatic win.
Unfortunately there aren't that many maps that have machines in general so it's pretty niche.

This mission is so absurdly hard on your first try.
Legitimately the only case where you're not supposed to beat every enemy before retreating aside from that Albus x Issac mission down the line.

It's pretty hard on replays too. Even if you know about things like Phys Resistance 3 the tigers hurt like hell, there are fuckloads of them and they spam suppression. If your Wind Veil or Furious Lightning Gale are down you can get locked down for a long time.
On my recent playthrough I was curious how the mission plays if you don't try to hold them off and just have everyone leg it. It's even harder doing that because the whole mass of them barrels down the center of the map towards the green units holding the line, and you lose if they break through.
Suitably scary introduction to a suitably scary faction.

there are other characters in that mission you can get to temporarily join your party, you should try to get albus to make contact with them first. at this point in the game they are much stronger than albus.
don't prioritize rescuing civilians if it would jeopardize your units, even though that's not heroic.

I wanted to talk about my Albus here because even at level 30 I'm still using the base of this build because it's so damn good and covers his essentials.
>Defensive Choice
For 5 TP this synergy is insane. 20% Block at a baseline, 5% per enemy in LoS, and another 20% if enemies > allies in LoS. It's a huge amount of Block even if the last effect isn't active, but it pretty much always will be in the early-game. This synergy makes it trivially easy to hit 100% Block even if you have displayed 60% and 100% Block lets you take punishment indefinitely. I think you have a few more points to play with but I can't remember what else I was using, it was probably just a few extra stats and Bloodshed.
If 100% Block by itself was enough, though, Irene with a similar build would be dominating too, but she lacks the most important thing that Albus has, which is the ability to fight AT delay. Not only does Albus have Wind Veil to ignore AT delay, he also has Weapon Blocking to cut off 10 AT every time he gets hit, feeding him constant extra turns as he tanks, dishing out more forced Forestallment crits from Sen no Sen. Add Second Wind later when you have the points and slots for it and he'll tank whatever gets thrown at him. I just went for general useful stuff like Combat Training and Repetitive Sword Training, plus Sword Manual is nice at some point. Can go for Bleed rather than Second Wind too.

Swordsman has so many good masteries and sets for just being a basic class that it makes nearly every other basic class (and some advanced classes) seem like shit. Elementalist is the only other basic class that comes close. Anyone could easily build a half-decent build with just swordsman/elementalist and common masteries which is nice with how early you can get them, and they're always fun to use since they have quite a bit of variety.

And with regards to Heixing, an anon posted about Sight affecting max range recently and that had me check out his range. Three of his skills have a range of 13 compared to the base 12 vision, base 10 at night. It's easier to fix at day since you could find +1 Sight from gear somewhere (can sacrifice some stats with an Abyss Coat), but getting the other 2 for max range at night is a lot harder without Owl Eye, a Basic Mastery that gives +3 Night Sight. Truly this game has no bounds to its min-maxing.

Physical Resistance 3 gives it some pretty strong competition imo. The 50% damage reduction is nice, but the real draw early in the game is the massive amount of resistances it gives you. For 3 defence slots and 6TP you make all spirit-using enemies tickle you right through to the vanilla endgame, including bicrons.

Night Scope gear partially fixes this with +1 night sight but that's honestly a waste of the gear slot.
I rarely tend to use Heixing at his max range anyways, he always felt better at more of a mid range to get the most coverage out of his sweeping fire and shooting spree attacks, and he tends to have his turns often enough to get a chance to retreat if necessary.
And having more sight can actually be anti-synergy with the sweeper class since it relies on him eliminating all enemies in his sight to regain an action point. The more sight he has, the harder it can be to do that.

My brain sees a bar to max and instantly sets out to do it. Good point on Sweeper Heixing, though. Controlling his LoS makes a huge difference in how many turns he can get, so he works better at night in some respects. If you're playing a Fire Support or Overwatch style, range is really nice, especially on Sweeping Fire, extra range on that cone will add a few dudes frequently. Running Owl Eye by itself at night is equivalent to adding a 1 point Mastery that gives you +3 range, which is nuts.

I'll concede that Damage Absorbing functionally makes Ranger better if you can hit the cap. It's feasible to do so by the end of the game for sure, but Sweeper has This Is My Gun and High-Velocity Armor-Piercing Bullet as generally good sets mostly using Masteries other good sets are already using, compared to Ranger's I Can Do This using Machine Hunter and only being strong against machine enemies. There's a higher cost to running that build as a Ranger. Over the course of the game it's going to be easier for a Sweeper to hit the damage cap against Damage Absorbing, it'll be better against the targets without it, and it doesn't significantly impact his performance against other targets which is nice in the missions with mixed human and robot enemies.

I don't think it does actually unless you can somehow keep both action points after using an attack with hit and run, I kinda forgot how it works but after you attack with hit and run you'll end up with only one action point instead of both so you can't dash. I guess it's intended more for running up to the enemy to kick them from a still stance on her next turn which should come pretty quickly with like -40 AT.

Yeah, that's mainly how I've used it. She also has stuff like Direct Hit, deals more damage to closer enemies, and Perfectionist with Identical Target to refund her AP if she kills a target she previously hit. So you can do things like run in, blast some people that includes somebody you hit last turn, refund your AP, run over to somewhere else and blast some more people. You get Excitement off of activating it once, which is a nice buff. She auto-Conceals after dashing. Stuff like that. It's all really finnicky though.

I use an item-based Grenadier with The Expert for 1AP grenades, and Hit and Run is really good for getting into spots where you can throw grenades from still stance next turn. With 1 AP for grenades, if Perfectionist triggers on your next turn's first attack you end up regaining your second action point instead of your first, so you can still take a full turn after killing them.

Yeah, and speaking of refunding AP, man oh man is it really broken on him with Great Valley Wind giving you free turns on top of getting to spam Turning Over a New Leaf, and that isn't even mentioning that you can put One Strike, One Head on there and OSOK for double AP refunds too, but that one was a bit too close to the sun, the killing potential on this build is very particular and it wasn't very reliable at doing it which is very important on a chain-killing build. Basically Albus can shoot like 30 dudes in a row and travel across the entire map in a single turn pretty easily.

Pic related, you can see how precise the thing is from the gear alone probably. It still needed the Master versions of that stuff. Upon review I think I would drop Tornado Slash for Magic Amplification which would give me a significant amount of ESP and let me cut a lot of the damage from the board. The Call of Wind stuff with Forestallment is alright, but it's ironically gimmicky for this build with enough gimmicks. And the defenses are probably overkill but I always like that. Actually this build has a problem where if Albus goes too hard he becomes totally unsustainable without Soul Drain but that usually doesn't happen because there's a bunch of other people destroying other parts of the map.

If you really want a memebuild rabbit hole to fall down, look into sleep Beast builds. Bad Sleeping Habit is technically a responsive attack so it can spam skills that would otherwise go on cooldown in a similar way to Pincer Attack with Beast or Cover. Use as a regular unit until it either falls asleep naturally or gets knocked into Hibernation. You can use sleeping pills on it too but I think it's less efficient than just working with the awake unit.
Once it's asleep it'll constantly move towards wherever Giselle is and blast enemies in sight with chain lightning. Catnap + Twilight of Pain makes it take extremely fast turns, and because it's using a responsive attack and not the skill directly it has no cooldown and no cast delay.
The only disadvantage is that it can't dodge while asleep, but more often than not that's not a real issue

Anyway this question had me more curious so I really looked into it. Standby removes 25% of your AT if you've moved once. The yellow movement is 60% of your normal move distance. Let's say you have 13 movement and 60 AT. You can move 20 and have 60 AT turns or you can move 13 and have 36 AT turns. At 180 AT you've moved 60 tiles with Dashing and 65 tiles with Standby. If you have less than 60, then Dashing starts becoming better. Which you really should have less than 60.

But my dumb ass did the math wrong on the easiest thing for some reason. Bad form to do math when just waking up. 60 * 0.75 is 45. At 180 AT you only moved 13 tiles 4 times for 52 tiles total compared to Dashing moving 20 tiles 3 times for 60 tiles total. It's at 49 AT that you hit the 36 cap. The totals there: 637 tiles moved at 1764 AT for Standby, 720 for dashing.
TL;DR dashing always moves you farther.

Thinking about it now Dandylion probably did make sure dashing was explicitly faster than using standby for covering long distances otherwise it wouldn't have much of a purpose other than convenience.

Yeah, dashing is faster because it comes at the risk of running into an enemy ambush without having a chance to immediately react.
You should only do it if you already know what lies between point A and point B, are sure that your character can handle an ambush, or the situation is dire enough that you'd take the risk of losing a unit.

I was thinking about this, and about 40-50% of Abandoned Children's story maps weren't strictly set in the city but instead took place in Forests, Swamps, slums, fields, ruins etc.
Like, almost every beast map has your team fighting in the open wilderness, in mountainous regions, on beaches or even in caves.
And since we already have confirmations of various factions that're living in small towns or villages, we'll probably get our fair share of non-rural maps as well. Pic related for example surely lives in modern resorts.

Claudia always seemed like to me that she was going to be more of a shy/reserved kinda girl, like a bookworm type, but I guess the cool beauty type would also fit with her, especially being a witch.
>I was thinking about this, and about 40-50% of Abandoned Children's story maps weren't strictly set in the city but instead took place in Forests, Swamps, slums, fields, ruins etc.
Those were (usually) some of my favorite maps but I think it was probably just the novelty. When most of the story and side missions have you fighting in streets, the more natural environments really changed things up a bit, especially having to play around bushes and water when there's not a lot of cover. But if those were the only map types in BC, I would probably get tired of those and wish I was cutting down white tigers in the streets again.
>And since we already have confirmations of various factions that're living in small towns or villages
Dandy is definitely going all in on the enemy variety which makes me really look forwards to the game. There's supposed to be like five more new beast types along with the ones that were in AC, then there are vikings, maybe evil witches, those modernized/industrialized tribes people, possibly spoonists(? though I think they might just be a neutral/third party faction most of the time), generic bandits, more machine enemies possibly, and the clowns are making a return but in proper military gear and not suits and clown masks.
And knowing how Dandy designed the DLC enemies, some of these enemy factions will be intentionally made to fuck over specific playstyles and builds.

Though the armor pen items don't really struggle against other non-machine enemies and are pretty useful when machine enemies do show up so I guess I'll keep using them for now, at least until the legendaries I want finally drop.
Is there like an online build planner? Especially one for beasts/drones. Would be nice to know which unique masteries I should get in advance when evolving a beast or reinforcing a drone so I don't have to start over with a completely new one if I realized I needed more property limit or something.

MK Albus probably isn't much better against drakis since they all have good resistance and can be wind elemental.
Greatsword Albus has more multi-hit which is great against draki's noble scale, and weapon blocking can get you a lot of turns with how many drakis there can be attacking him. Heixing and grenadier Ray also really fuck up drakis swarms with their huge physical aoe.

It's fine to take a few but the real trouble is their unending swarms that diving into melee range exposes you to.

You can click "Retraining" on a beast once it's over 80 loyalty and it'll let you turn all instinct and training masteries into whatever you want. There's an equivalent for drones as well.
Genetics masteries are more annoying to change - there's a machine in the level 60 violent case that lets you modify those.
A build planner sounds fun though, and probably not too hard to assemble.
Is it possible to beat the game without equipping any masteries?

I quite liked it, it's one of the only cases that combines a human enemy faction with the sheer autism of min-maxed beast opponents. All of the beasts have new, unique combinations of SP types since they're genetically modified mutants, and you have the option to take them on one by one or let hell loose and enter a battle royale.

Something I didn't appreciate about having so much more HP on him than usual is that the threshold where Second Wind activates is much higher, meaning even when he does dip into dangerous territory, he usually heals back up enough to even tank a hit. I see what the other anon is saying about stacking even more Block, though, I assume they have Breakthrough and if they couldn't crit me at all he'd be unstoppable. Bleed immunity might fuck them over too, I haven't looked at their sets.

Damn, looks like I haven't even gotten close to this classes final form. Can't wait to unlock more stuff for it. It definitely takes some finagling to get the Dancer stuff working but even if you're not taking advantage of that, the class gives him a lot of stats, particularly Speed and offensive reliability, to make his debuff role feel a lot better.

The devs have some very enlightened views on the subject of "overpowered".
tldr: overpowered things are fun, what matters is that they're not introduced too early so that you still get meaningful progression as you play the game
When should you start +9ing your gear? Seems like to me the start of DLC1 is when it's best to start +9ing weapons and the start of DLC2 is when you should start +9ing your armor unless you're using a low level legendary, then it's worth it to start upgrading it when you get it.
Anytime before that, seems like you get better equipment often enough that upgrading can be a waste.
Also with armor/resistance, because you get diminishing returns by stacking it, should probably be upgraded last unless a few percentage points of damage reduction is going to make that much of a difference.
>>2180989
>>2181005
Freeze is just straight up the strongest debuff in the entire game and so any build that can consistently apply it automatically becomes useful, if not good. I think the reason why MA Leton is preferred over SS is just because there's a lot to keep track of with SS between performance stacks and frozen blood, it's a lot easier to just ungabunga with MA and not worry about any of that.

I think you have the right of it. If it doesn't take Black Iron, it's pretty easy to upgrade. There's always opportunity cost on anything you upgrade, you'll be paying for it in some way later, so the more you do the more burdensome it is and it can get in the way of crafting upgrades. So I usually don't upgrade anything unless I expect to be using it all the way to the end of the game, which isn't much. Some of the swords for Albus can be a good example, Dunames Sniper Rifle IBL for Giselle is another one that as soon as I get a good one I'll slam it. I guess around the end of the base game is when I start considering it since that's when you get endgame worthy gear.

I was misremembering here, I thought the upgrades went up to Black Iron but they don't. Stuff from 20-35 mostly takes Rare and Epic Primal stuff which is quite a bit cheaper, and there's some really good low level craftable gear if you look like Indigo Cyrus Sneakers that you can use practically forever too. Everything after that is really expensive to upgrade.

I don't consider +9s part of normal progression myself, more like a way of keeping extremely low level but useful items relevant. Those level 15 boots with a godly accuracy roll that you're still using at level 50. That bangle that you just can't find an upgrade to. Leton's default uniform with its insane dodge bonus but fuck all armour. Those are the kinds of things I upgrade, usually towards the end of the base game or start of DLC1. Armour does have diminishing returns, but the difference between having 650 armour and having 1350 armour is very easy to feel.

Stuff like that is what I love about this game, they're great about letting you play around stuff. I was looking at the fandom (ugh) wiki out of curiosity and there's some blatantly wrong statements on Albus's page. but the wiki was probably made by an ESL and it's obviously maintained by purely volunteer work so it's a bit rude to expect it to be perfect especially for such a niche game.
However this is really the type of game that benefits from a good wiki, especially when there are tons of interactions like in
>>2174672 that could need clarification, I could see people coming up with lots of new builds once every interaction is properly explained.
Though if everything does get documented then I'll miss the kinda arcane aspect of making builds, like discovering some new interaction yourself or building around mechanics you don't fully understand and not knowing if your build would even work. The poor game translation really helps give everything some sort of obscure esoteric tome vibe like your following ancient alchemical texts in hopes of making some powerful concoction but you have no idea what it means by certain terms you can't find anywhere else so you just wing it and experiment and sometimes it fails while othertimes you come up with the elixir of life.

I wanted to make an Irene build focused around Run and Fire Wheel Carriage ability in hopes that it would be fun and might mitigate her turn issue, but I have no idea where to start, even what class to use.
Obviously AMYOT is necessary and Swift Footwork + Shukuchi would really benefit this build, plus cauterize is always nice to have but there's still so many different directions to take the build that I have choice paralysis.
Maybe OSOK and make it into a hit-and-run or chain kill sorta build? Would work well with pyromaniac too since fire wheel is a multi-hit that can be make to always inflict fire. Or just build the rest of it into normal martial artist. I don't have Call of Fire yet though so I can't really do a blunt-focused or complete fire mastery centric build.
I also wanted to make a meme build focused around Somersault since I like fire mages throwing fireballs at people but obviously that would have limited efficacy and there are monster tames that can fulfill the role of a fire mage better. Maybe there's some funny synergy with Call of Fire blunt Somersaults and Martial Artist masteries.

Shukuchi has good commonality with Martial Artist Masteries, specifically Street Fighter, Solitary Fighter and Wandering Brawler. Those sets really lean into letting her wreck house solo, the AT reduction helps a lot. Build related.
>Call of Fire Blunt Somersaults
Coincidentally I was looking into this just now and for some reason it turns Somersault into Piercing. Extinguish does convert the rest into Blunt. Where it gets confusing is they're still considered Fire skills for the purpose of the Mastery board, but there's surprisingly little Blunt or Physical specific components available anyway, Connected Energy would be lovely, Bruise would be kinda cool. Everything else in MA's kit works on her Fire stuff to begin with. It'd actually be worse if you lost the Fire board. I really want to make it work but I'm struggling to see a reason to do it, especially as MA you can easily afford to run Breath so getting cooldowned isn't an issue. You can hit a Firecron really hard.

Somersault can do pretty good damage and it's by far her longest range attack, but it's her only pure ESP scaling attack so if you don't want to use bangles on her you're out of luck
>Maybe OSOK and make it into a hit-and-run or chain kill sorta build?
It's really overpowered for that. You can pair it with Flames of Vengeance so that if you kill them 1 in hit you get One Shot One Kill, and if you kill them on the second hit you get Flames of Vengeance. Pyromaniac handles cooldowns as long as you keep critting.
The one downside to that build (which is extremely fun by the way) is that Fire Wheel Carriage has a very large cast delay that's a pain in the ass to reduce by any appreciable amount, so when you eventually stop killing units you'll have massive AT to wait before you go again.

One thing Call of Fire could do is convert her normal attack into Fire. But there's nothing that grants it Burn itself. If you want Irene to dish out counterburns with Forestallment or Counterattack, she already does that with the Flame Bolt set. I got nothing.

I've used it to convert the normal attack into Fire to trigger Fanatic Pyromaniac after being cooldown'd to fuck in the lategame. You can trigger all the overwatches while your kick is still blunt, then convert to fire just before you hit them.
Otherwise the main draw of converting skills is to turn your other skills physical so they can crit against destrons with ESP Neutralizing Armour.

>it turns Somersault into Piercing
wtf
I guess maybe because it's a shooting attack type, if it was throwing/fall maybe it would be considered blunt? Though all the other call ability descriptions say that turn their elemental damage into blunt. Maybe another inaccurate description on Dandy's part, or a bug. That sucks though, since Irene doesn't have access to anything that can buff piercing specifically.
>>2181598
Somersault kinda sucks since building around it doesn't synergize with the rest of her kit (other than fire damage), which is why I considered it a meme build. I think it exists only so there's some additional range in the early game before the dedicated ranged characters join. It does decent damage for no cooldown but can't be spammed because of Irene's speed issues, compare that to Bianca's finger guns which has similar damage scaling but longer range and less AT and benefits from shit like blood wind, or Sion's thunderbolt which does over 700 damage without any scaling.
>so when you eventually stop killing units you'll have massive AT to wait before you go again.
Not a problem if she kills enough units, everyone else can just clean up the ones that remain. Better than killing one unit with a single turn then not getting another one until 300 AT has passed.

Yeah, I know I've used Call of Wind on Albus to knock people back with Wind Hammer. So it's weird what is and isn't considered a Fire or Wind attack ability. You can hover over the attack with the buff active and see that certain elemental Masteries don't boost it, though. It does reflect the change in damage type appropriately. Conversion shit is usually weird in games and the Call skills are no exception.

Doing tons of long-range fire damage is a good enough niche imo. You can build things like Offensive Choice on her (leading into Practical Martial Arts), Posture Breakdown works with it, all the fire masteries work beautifully with it. Stacks up Armor Disabling if you go that path. It's got a lot going for it. Then you have Battlemage that just rapes with it.

She didn't even know that Luna was an assassin child until after she joined Albus's company so it's not like she was looking for someone her age that would also understand what it's like to work in a violent profession. If guess if you consider Albus and Anne getting downed in the graveyard ambush to be the canon outcome of that mission, then it sorta makes sense but even then Anne didn't know what actually happened there.
She really hung out with that girl for one day and decided trying to "save" Luna would be her life's goal.

Originally it was going to be a multiplayer battle game with singleplayer tutorial missions, so the plot was more or less "Everyone's fucking fighting". Whenever they made the switch in direction to become singleplayer focused they probably had to rewrite the setting to make more sense for that.
I'd guess the characters they chose as party members were the most developed ones so they didn't have to throw out as much work. A lot of the characters they show in those videos don't even have idle poses in-game, or they're like the Chaos Brush girls who have no skills besides the basic spray throw that they get from the item.

Yeah it's a DLC2 set originally from 60V.
You can cheese it early though. Dandy forgot or didn't care to lock a couple of the DLC2 joint drill teams behind the DLC, and one of the units on the poacher team has the full set equipped. Whether you consider that cheating or not is up to you.
>>2183806
I'm actually doing various Joint Drill grinding right now for some more annoying to get masteries and I happen to be fighting them, though I'm hunting Burning Plains from one of the Hunter's monsters. I think it doesn't matter much, but even Joint Drill is quite late. It's understandable though, when I played with all the masteries unlocked from the beginning, using endgame sets like that makes it so the enemies can't really compete. I think I'll mess with them a bit again anyway since the enemies are mostly at that point already.

That said, I think Dandy did account for it a bit, only Jim and Bomy show up and I don't think either of them have it. That's also the case on my original file but apparently I never did 60V so it might be tied to that. I think it's similar with The Drifter Clowns, you can meet Hanson early but Ben doesn't show up until you've cleared the case with him, and I know Pascal and the Tri-Stars aren't available on my current file at the moment.

Here's the Ninja setup I've settled on for now. It's pretty much just Wet-related stuff, but I also threw in Pack Maneuver and Joint Tactics to try to manage her AT a bit better. She's still using her Crimson Crow +3 that she comes with, and I've given her a Hellfire Seal for some more ESP, but her damage doesn't really need that. Definitely a build for working with the rest of the team rather than off doing her own thing, but I was pretty happy with how it performed until I mispositioned and a swordsman Mungo whacked her for 5700.

Neat seeing someone else try ESP misty. Her samsara setup is fun but you really want ninja toolbox so she can run golden feather as an extra SP use. Since samsara lets her use any of her 3 SP abilities you can drop fat nukes on enemies with her wave skill and then use her Shadow Ninjitsu for a 2nd life or to hide.

If I swapped the Crimson Crow dagger for an ESP dagger I could switch the Hellfire Seal for the feather, but I like what the CC does for my cooldowns. With that board I can potentially throw out Water Release every turn if the water cooldown masteries favour me.
How useful is field effect immunity, really?
Obviously it helps in certain maps but it seems like the most common field effect debuffs can be mitigated with just having good stats, like just having higher speed/movement/dodge/block. The really cancerous ones are limited to just a few maps and if you're aware they're coming, you can avoid them. Ranged characters can also avoid having to go through field effects.
Seems like the main use for it is if want to run spider web or gas cloud masteries and abilities on your team but don't want to screw over your own units. Or if you have someone using berserker and can't really control where they go.

>safety from Sion's lightning terrain if you're using his flash beam (important to some builds because the end turn damage from electric shock will knock you out of hide/camouflage/overwatch)
>immunity to poison clouds, which some lategame violent cases are very nasty about
Like most things in this game you can go without it, but it's really nice for specific builds or just generally not wanting to kill yourself in high level violent cases

Jeff's shoes have bad stats which I dislike. No useful substats and level 35 so mediocre Armor value. I do agree if you're running something like Heixing's Poison Bullet set or extensively using Ray's ESP AOEs that you can get a lot more value out of it, but field effects are usually something you can play around. It's still always nice to have since it increases your options. Does Poison Gas still give you Smokescreen? That'd be kinda cool.

Crabmit Boots are actually pretty damn good too, they provide a ton of bulk. No Speed or Block/Dodge but if you can get it elsewhere they're a great option. My Anne is still using Cleaning Agent's Boots, since those have 15 Speed and +2 Move Distance base, those have bad bulk but otherwise amazing features, just annoying to get. Indigo Draki Boots are notable for their 9% Block, Boots can't roll a Block affix so this can be handy for some builds.

I feel like boots kinda suck compared to sneakers but maybe that's just me. Seems like the non-defensive stat boots give is extra vigor and the characters that wear boots either don't have much vigor issues, or have reasons to keep a smaller vigor pool. Sneakers generally have more useful stats even though they're for melee characters specifically.
Shoe shoes are obviously intended for gunners specifically and they work well enough on them that I can't really complain about using them.

Yeah Kylie's set is incredibly useful on her regardless of class (even though it's engineer-oriented) and one of the few specific character sets where the full 5/5 is worth it. Extra protocol abilities is always nice.

There's definitely stuff to tweak since this is all the way from my first file but something like that, you definitely want Archwitch and Magic Research Student, Gold Wing Charm is probably overkill and you should likely use a Master Gemscrafter instead and either drop Golden Leather 3 set or replace the Skull Coat or Black Iron Flash Boots. Also the Verdure and Stone Throwing stuff is cute but with some work you can probably fit in Improved Magic Shield so she can actually take some hits. This is just one way to do it, you can also opt for sets like Distorted Heart, Witch of Envy and Witch of Avarice and have her specialize in dealing with buffed enemies as well as spread AIDS when stuff hits her but it's really hard to get a Witch tanking much.

Up to 2300 Armor. But 100% Block was really optimistic. Defensive Choice would be great but it only works in Limit Break. This is level 50 so there's plenty to fill it out later, but it's still at a bit of a crossroads here, you can cut Magic Variety, Sage, and Magic Theory to give up any offensive capabilities and try to fill the rest with stuff that improves the bulk, one thing it would do right now with more levels is likely grab Sand Castle. Maybe at 55 the Big Mud set can be good, it's a lot of HP and has good Armor as well. It hits 2300 Armor if you can take the first hit, with upgrades you'd get a few hundred more, but I dunno, I'll have to play around with it.

This is a map called Theater_CinemaV that's unused. I'd estimate there are probably 30-40 unused maps in this game.
What was really surprising - and the reason I made the webm - is that the town models walking around have leaping animations like they do when you move them as units.

on steam forums i think they were trying to get feedback on if they should remove the multiplayer elements for the sequel, and while i wouldn't mind if they did get rid of the hub area, i hope they at least keep pvp. trade with other players would be nice too, as long as they got rid of the stupid bound item system that makes it impossible to actually trade for worthwhile items. i have some legendaries with decent affixes that i'm not going to use but would be nice to give to other players

You generally want to have as much SP as possible, since each SP type has benefits proportional to the amount of SP you've accumulated. That's true for beasts, humans and even machines with their unique SP classes.
Being able to use skills cost-free and to use your Overcharge skill is just a bonus.

Yeah it does. It used to be a single-hit attack back when it had that delay originally and Dandy didn't change it when they made it an 8-hit, so now it's a 480 AT delay attack. It was pointed out on day 1 of that update and Dandy didn't care.

It can get truly insane in PVP with Covers and Pincer Movements. I had one fight against an anon from here where the game almost crashed because we had pincers, covers, fire supports, punishing shots, forestallments, punishment, vindictive spirits and Fire Veil all going off at the same time. The game gave up trying to show the correct order of operations and random shit was happening all over the place.
We never did finish that match because the server and our clients disagreed on whose turn it was when there were about 6 units left.

I somewhat miss the post-release maps with infinite guaranteed dodge + gunmen who'd pull Luck out of their asses, but these changes are certainly for the better.

I hated that so much. They had it equipped for It Was No Accident's headshot rate, but in practice you were just rolling dice every time you ran that map whether your units would get insta'd with no counterplay. Other mungos would imitate it as well and it would trigger so many forced misses that set off Mimicking Evasion.
Pretty much the only way to beat that map reliably was to have Barbarian Alisa kill everything. I think of it every time I see a Gunner Mungo trigger Coincidental Hit.
It wasn't infinite dodges at least. Originally it was 5 stacks (3 without the set) and they nerfed it to 3 (1 without the set).

They're just so normal for living in this abnormal Wind Wall District, but I guess that's true for most people in Valhalla who've come to accept their circumstances.
>>2187011
>>2187026
I agree that it was ridiculous for Mungos with their status effect Imitation ability, but Luck in itself is a decently balanced status.
You can count enemies who actually make use of it on both hands, so if you engage someone who has Luck it's a special circumstance you need to be wary of. And aside from that, it's fun to use and incorporate into your own build.
>Originally it was 5 stacks (3 without the set) and they nerfed it to 3 (1 without the set).
Oh, I didn't remember that.
See? It's been too long since we've had new content... I still kind of consider Mungos the 'new' thing even though the DLC dropped almost two years ago.

I have come to the conclusion that I hate martial artists in general, whether they're my units, or the enemy's.
My martial artists suck because they're so slow so they barely get to do anything, have limited blunt damage options to take full advantage of fighter/martial artist masteries, and are useless against lots of ranged enemies.
Enemy martial artists suck because they somehow always land a crit to activate Posture Breakdown and make my units useless for their next turn on top of having stupidly high block that you always have to make sure you have some way to deal with in your team's loadout.
I would not care if there are no martial artists in Banished Children.

I like building Martial Artists because they're a generalist class. There's support for class-heavy boards, physical boards, ESP boards, they can be tanky, they can be fast, they can debuff, they have mastery support for responsive attacks, counterattacks, every kind of build you can think of you can probably make a pretty decent board in MA for it.
Battlemages don't have nearly the amount of diversity.

Not really. It's pretty good at what it does, which is dealing both physical and ESP damage. And even if there aren't a lot of MK masteries, they still have access to elementalist, swordsman, elemental masteries, all of which are pretty good. Even black mages and witches rely a lot on elementalist and elemental masteries as opposed to just their advanced class ones.
My problem with MK is just with Albus specifically, who plays like a budget Bianca, and the slashing damage he does as a MK isn't enough to deal with enemies that resist wind (bicrons specifically). And you need call of wind if you want him to do melee wind damage, which is a grind to get. In the context of the whole team, Albus is just better as a great swordsman to be a frontliner and deal with enemies that are machines or have high block or impulse field.
If pink nigga, Yuranxiang, or some other ESP type were playable magic knights then the class would probably feel a lot better. Ice and earth would probably be amazing with everything magic knight has access to specifically.

I think that's it, and it's also why he's an Orichalcum Rank Wanted Man. That's a rank so dangerous that he doesn't show up on the public wanted men list.
As a member of the LeBlanc family, one of the three great noble families of Valhalla, he could've gotten his hands on classified material and painted his paintings as a warning of sorts.
He seems to be a decent guy in his few scenes in White Lion and Black Witch, and I just can't see a main character being an actual villain. I'm mostly interested in his connection to Spoonism.

Yeah, they look a little too close in age in that pic (Ari looks 4-5 and Alisa looks 10ish) but if we assume 3-4 and 11-12 it's not that egregious. Looked up the dialogue for when Ilya meets Alisa. She didn't initially didn't work for the Union, she was a child soldier for a rebel faction. Ilya says they were exploiting her, so presumably she's a war orphan. He almost killed her during combat, but instead chose to utilize her as a spy, then a daughter.
I wonder if Dandy always planned for her to have a long-lost sister, or they just made it up as they were making Banished Children.

>I'm mostly interested in his connection to Spoonism.
This, I want to know if he intentionally founded spoonism or if it just kinda popped up around the Ramjist mythos.
One of the dev diaries for BC said that he's a (or the) gold spoon which is a pretty high ranking, even Sharky is just a silver spoon.
And if he actually is a leader in spoonism, I want to know what he thinks about Carter taking over Sharky's position.
It would be interesting to see spoonists as a neutral faction or even allies in BC.

Since he painted Alisa and Bianca pretty accurately when they were at the Ramjist plaza terror attack, does that mean he was there? I think that the game doesn't make a secret out of his fraudulent nature though, so it's not much of a spoiler.
Once you learn that the Catastrophe was planned in advance and carried out under Edward's orders, it becomes unlikely that Ramjist who predicted it and is known as a terrorist would be an actual prophet.

>One of the dev diaries for BC said that he's a (or the) gold spoon
He's introduced that way in the WLBW dlc as well. My guess is that he's a founding member of the original organization, but Edward took control of the group and essentially kicked him out as he planted his glowies Sharky and John and turned Spoonism into the sacrificial scapegoat of Valhalla.
They weren't always that radical; Nevil (the first enemy to drop Luck) actually has a pretty interesting dialogue with another member about the direction of the group and to keep innocent citizens out of harm's way, which contradicts events like the Ramji Plaza incident. Coincidentally, he's one of the few named Spoonists to appear in the Banished Children development art despite playing a minor role in Abandoned Children.

There's a line in one of the cutscenes where Morgan says "Isn't Spoonism the organization of the renegade Ramjist?". The korean text is
>스푼교 』라면 변절자 람지스트의 조직이 아닌가
Which according to machine translation says
>If it is Spoon School, it is an organization of the renegade Ramsist.
So I think he did found it. iirc there are another couple of lines somewhere that imply it too.

At least it would be nice to see a scene of him enjoying a peaceful retirement contrary to what Sanson expects and his previous attempt at reintegrating into civilian life. Maybe some would say he doesn't deserve a peaceful and happy retirement, but he is the least scummy of the clowns and didn't ask to get drafted and get PTSD in the great war.

I was running it on a tima since they don't really have any other way to cope with debuffs and it just didn't matter. the debuffs kept getting re-applied multiple times before the tima could even take its turn, and this is with lunatic beast + berserker's seal. The extra health was nice though

>who plays like a budget Bianca,
Turning Over A New Leaf's insane synergy with Valley Wind plus his much better bulk makes him feel better than her to me once he gets going. I do agree that the hybrid nature of the class is extremely hard to take advantage of, which is my biggest problem with it. You either focus on dealing mostly physical or ESP damage and you have to use Curse of the Sword stacks to shore up the other side of it, because if you try to do both you'll find you can't reliably do either. So that's what I'd like to see explored better. To some extent it's a matter of the enemies you face too. In Troubleshooter the concept of physical or ESP walls is kind of there but for the most part units are either tanky against everything or not very tanky.

I don't run it very much myself just because of how Basic-heavy it is, but its main niche is for reducing typeless debuffs like Silence and mental debuffs to 1 turn. It's "worse" than Mutant in that you don't get buffs at the end of your turn, but you also get about 380 HP to go with it and don't have to work around a 4-point Support mastery.
>>2188613
Martial Artist is a soft counter to Barbarian. They get huge amounts of increased damage to overcome Forgotten Pain, and there's no better way to kill a low HP Rampage'd Barbarian than baiting them into a Movement on Silence counterattack. They're also very, very good at taking down Destrons for similar reasons.

indomitable will and will to survive are both part of some very good common sets, probably even the best common sets (lunatic beast and final resistance) so it's not surprising to see them used in a common-heavy build.
the dream would be argonaut + last lunacy + lunatic beast + final resistance but putting all those on probably wouldn't leave any slots or TP for necessary class masteries and might be overkill when it comes to AT or cooldown reduction. (no such thing as too much AT reduction though)
defense has some of the best common masteries which are just as good, if not better than a lot of the class or SP specific masteries imo. they just depend on having enough slots and TP to use their full sets which most classes don't have, so the class masteries get better bang for their buck.

I was trying that out and it's nice for a wide array of Legendary gear. You also can find some really uncommon Masteries occasionally, I got Call of Wind off of an Albus earlier which was nice. Pretty much all the stuff will be purple so it's good returns. 54V is probably the best, it drops a lot more gear than 58V or 60V. 46V does drop more stuff but a fair amount of it is green which has a much worse conversion rate, unlike the DLC areas that mostly only have blue or above gear.

You can get it from buff roulette but that's unreliable, rare and by the time you get it, it's probably too late for AT delay purposes. The only other thing I can think of is using Sacrifice to give somebody Hatred but that also seems unreliable in a different way. I guess Shout of Concentration really is the only way.

>Ari - Wind
That's a surprise, wasn't she already confirmed to be a Hunter?
Although Wind SP Archer definitely sounds cool.
Not too surprised about Tyra and Lumi - I'm not sure how a gunner class would benefit from elemental SP in the first place.

It definitely is good, but it becomes a different build at that point. My main problem with Shout of Concentration is its 5 turn cooldown. I dunno if a monster could help me with that but I can't think of sources of cooldown reduction other than killing stuff which is unreliable.
>>2190813
Not too excited about even more spirit gun users even if it makes sense for non-ESP users to use guns and ESP users likely have range with their powers.
Water ranger would have a lot of synergy, probably my dream class SP combination. Wind and lightning both have crit bonuses in their SP gauge so they could work well with guns too.
Ari being wind is a surprise, I was extremely convinced she would be spirit, especially since she will probably be able to tame beasts which will let her cover her elemental weakness. But a wind archer sounds cool. I wonder if her bard advanced class will have the performance mechanic?
Yuri not being wind is also a surprise, maybe this means that having ESP powers is genetic, but the actual ESP element isn't. Are/were Sion's brothers also lightning? Or maybe Yuri just inherited a different ESP element from one of his parents. Anyways this gives me hope that maybe we get a fire mage.
Claudia is a witch so she couldn't be lightning, my hope is that she's water after knowing the elements of the others.
After Faye was confirmed not to be ice earlier I always suspected she would be spirit for some reason.
And while Dandy did say you were right about some of them, you could also be right about some more that Dandy just didn't want to confirm.

I wanted to make a build similar to this concept but with draki's noble scale instead. Impulse fields keeps them from getting one-shot, then noble draki's gives them a turn, which they should then use to deal damage and heal, then the next time they get attacked the cycle starts all over again.
I initially tried it on Heixing but it didn't go so well. Albus was my second choice but I didn't really want to run the build on him since he doesn't have much of a problem with speed otherwise.
I think a beast would be able to make the most out of it since they have predator healing, if it's on a lightning beast they could use flash stacks as well.

well, there is already a confirmed spirit sniper and spirit ranger. but as mentioned earlier in this thread, it's hard to get ESP to work with guns both in gameplay and in lore so spirit gunners have to be an exception

ESP gun users isn't that hard to justify. They could use magical rounds, and they'd have a lot of mastery synergy with all of the flat damage elemental masteries + Fire Support. There's already precedent with Skull Piercer (Wind) and Gaia (Earth) ESP gun users, so it kinda feels a bit disappointing that we're still getting Spirit ones.

It's still funny to me that this exists.
All of the other classes were made with multiple characters in mind and can have members of different SP types occupying it, but since Ninja class was made entirely for Misty in the dlc, they just gave it masteries that benefit Water SP exclusively.
They could've just as well called it "ESP Jutsu" or something like that to keep it general.

The real joke is how you run an entire board to one shot one thing and then die before you do much else. I hope this board helps with that. I doubt it will because Ninja is pretty slow while Hide is up and that's not even getting into the board having nothing to fight AT delay. I see the vision of dodging a bunch of stuff and refunding my cooldown on Water Release then blasting something with Still Stance but it's not easy to get there at all.

I really love the idea of all the Mist stuff but it's so expensive to run. I just want to spam Water Release but if you go all-in on that then you don't have the bulk or sustain. Interested to see other people's crack at it, it's a precocious board. Pretty rigid too like a Spirit board, you can cut a couple Water Masteries but most of them feed into each other and at that point it's one slot for 2 Masteries so I feel like it pigeonholes you.

My wish now is just to have a physical-damage melee frontliner that can wear bracelets so that I can finally live the dream of having Macho Man with a +9 bracelet.
I've tried running it on Sion since but since almost everything he has scales with ESP it just limits him to punching shit or doing less ESP damage than his other builds. I'm tempted to try it on Heixing next but I feel like that would just be a crime against sensible builds. I'm considering doing something even worse than that and trying Macho (wo)Man on Call of Wind melee Bianca.

More enemy class diversity. There are so many different classes for player units with wildly different build possibilities, but half the game is
>Martial Artist
>Ranger
>Sweeper
>Sniper
>Slaughterer
Spoonist maps avert this by having Grenadiers and both types of Mage, but there aren't many of them in the second half of the game when you have more tools of your own to use. Then Crimson Crow goes back to
>fuck you snipers with 99999 accuracy that you can't dodge (the third kind of such sniper after Dusk Snipers and Mercenary Snipers)
>rangers with You Can't Do Anything, because people didn't have that enough in the level 50+ WLBW maps
>Slaughterers that AT hell you, exactly the same as Dusk Slaughterers 5 maps ago except these ones have Quick Grasp of the Situation
The only enemy type that's kind of different are the Red Sand Sweepers, but even they're basically Mercenary Hoodlums with I'm Ready, Steel Armour and Quick Grasp. Having one of their leaders be a Magic Knight is an absolute troll when they could have had generic Magic Knights or something.

There are supposed to be a lot more enemy factions and beast types so it does seem like there is going to be more enemy variety, hopefully.
Having more elemental damage dealing enemies would certainly help with making the game more challenging in a fair way. Past the spoonist maps, the only real source of elemental damage from generic enemies are beasts. Even if ESP users are supposed to be rare in the lore, machines and grenadier/alchemist classes could still deal some, if they bothered to make actual weapons for generic thrower enemies to use beyond level 1 molotovs.
AC just has so much more physical damaging enemies and rather than balancing around elemental matchups, the late game just has the physical damage enemies get even more cancerous and actively screws over your elemental damaging units with all the rangers. It's a backwards ass approach to game design which is really uncharacteristic for Dandylion considering how much else they got right. Feels like they had a streak of sadism when making the DLCs.

This build shouldn't be this good for something I initially built as a joke. 10% Block from a set. I'm trying out Black Mane since she was already surprisingly tanky and her damage is fine. I keep looking for tools to make me tanky and Black Mane is pretty good if you have a fair amount of HP. Charm of Silvia's alright, especially for a build that can use a bit of extra Block like this, but that also makes Black Mane attractive. I had a White Tiger's Mark on but I don't think 300 Attack is that significant since the scaling on her abilities isn't that strong. Green Old Age contributes a lot of damage. A level 60 one has 90 more ATK but +1 range instead of 10% damage so it's not that significant, I'd imagine. The 50 one also has 10% hit chance which does help without all Thrower masteries to improve it. I'm not sure if I want to use an ESP or Boom. Boom has like 70 more ATK than the ESP ones have ESP.

I feel like a map full of Crabmits would wreck a map full of Mungos even if they do have the King. They don't really have an answer for burrowed crabs, and as bullshit as the king is, there's a lot of poison fog from dead crabs that would drag him down to 1HP in no time

>Mimicking Evasion is going to destroy the Crabs burrowing gimmick especially.
They have to dodge it once to get protection from it, and the Lie in Ambush crabs would only attack Mungos that end their turn (thus not having any mimicking evasion). Fighters could Lightning Reflexes the ambush, but then they still have to fight the actual crabs.
Crabmits also have a double-swing as their main attack to burn through stacks quickly, and all the water ones have Forestallment that can kill on enemy phase.
I think crabs have a lot of advantages against the monkeys.

Okay I looked at all the numbers for crabs and mungos
>every crabmit has between 77% and 83% base accuracy
>every crabmit has Predator Under Ground (+20% while burrowed)
>every medium sized and larger crabmit types get Concentration while burrowed for +30%
>most types of crabmit have Claws Trim for +10%
>Darkness crabmits don't have Claws Trim, but they have Prior Planning
>Rock crabmits have Fellowship
>Jade Crabmits have Final Blow
>small Toxic crabmits have Tactical Reform
>albino Crabmits have Eye of a Mutant which I forgot to note the % bonus, but iirc it's 15% against higher HP enemies
>Flower Garden crabmit has an unavoidable bind skill and Sense of Duty
>Snow Mountain crabmit has Fellowship
As far as Mungo evasion is concerned
>the least evasive standard Mungo is the Warrior Mungo, with 36% base evasion and 10% from Conceal, but they lack Hideout
>most Mungos have ~37% base, +10% from Hunker Down when in cover, +10% from Conceal, for around 57% evasion
>Swordsman Mungos have 47% base evasion for some reason, but they lack Hideout
>Black Mask has 93% base evasion
>Fighter Mungos have Lightning Reflexes
>Black Mask and Mungo King have 3x Lightning Reflexes
So basically the smallest variants of Crabmit will have 97% Still Stance accuracy minimum, 117% if they're Still Stance'd in burrows for 40-60% hit chance against most Mungo types
Medium sized crabs get an extra 30% for 70-90%ish before gimmicks like Fellowship and Prior Planning
That's kind of unreliable when you factor in distance bonuses and Mimicking Evasion. They will get some free stuns from Flame Sac and whatnot, but I now think Mungos would run over them if it was map vs map.

Yeah, the problem with the Mungos, especially if we're considering it from an AI vs. AI perspective, is that Mimicking Evasion snowballs so hard even with more reliable hitrates than that. I think even a player vs. player situation would be difficult for the Crabs but I do agree that the limited counterplay towards the Crab's stealth plus control over the shots you take should make things more interesting.

It's an interesting question. I think with all I've figured out about her I agree, but she's still held back by her Protocol count. She starts out as the most broken unit in the game and becomes very good. Reboot works but is very costly. I still haven't even gotten back into drone autism because I need to get the last modules off of Pascal's annoying squad, and she gets to summon a drone for free every time it dies too. It's absurd. All that said, there's characters that can indefinitely solo entire endgame maps without being limited by a count, so where does that leave Kylie? Still amazing since you just run her through the map, snipe every boss and then play support and clean-up.

Drones are crazy, in some situations they can be stronger than the human units and Kylie can summon two.
> there's characters that can indefinitely solo entire endgame maps without being limited by a count, so where does that leave Kylie?
Well yeah I guess by that metric Misty is the strongest, since she has a meme build that solos everything without taking damage. But in the course of normal gameplay I think the value Kylie adds up by wasting a gorillion enemy turns is huge.
The way I see it, games where you can manipulate the turn order are always about action economy. If you can act infinity times and the enemy can't act at all, you win everything. (like Misty) If you can't act at all then you lose everything. The closer you are to the first one on the scale, the stronger you are. Kylie gets
>her turn
>drone's turn
>another drone's turn
>hologram wastes 999 enemy turns
>drones tank hits (more wasted turns)
>drone reactions (kill stuff off turn)
>can instantly give other units turns
The drones and holograms are also like anti-bullshit shields. They're immune to so much annoying stuff and refuse to die.
I feel only Giselle comes close because of her ability to clear the screen by recovering AP after kills, combined with her super long range to exploit that, plus having pets which are amazing if you raise them.
Both of them can act like tanks, debilitators, mass killers, supports, or boss slayers. Meanwhile most other units can only do one or two of these things at a time.

Yeah, overall I agree with you, I also find Heixing can be an extremely disgusting screen clearer but he needs a bit of finesse to really chain kill whereas Giselle pops Overwatch, explodes something, snipes something, does it again and like 15 dudes died in 30 AT. Kylie running throughout the map leaving holograms, sniping anything with Attack Protocol and supporting whoever needs it feels similarly decisive in controlling what's going on in the battle.
I'll admit that managing (and building) drones, monsters and your own party members can be overwhelming, but I'm kind of sad that we don't appear to have an Engineer/Hacker in our party in the sequel.
I hope that Bicrons and Destrons will still appear, maybe even more machine types.

A super intelligent mungo that could also use both human and beast masteries and wear human clothes would also be neat but mungos are already flexible (and broken) enough as is.

I don't think they need to be engineer or hacker specifically to summon drones, so Reed could very well be our machine guy. There's also a non-zero chance that Kylie shows up since Ryo is a playable character so maybe she'll exist as some form of bringing machine units in your party.
Maybe Dandy will move away from summons altogether as the method for bringing drones and tames into the field and you'll be able to select them like normal party members before starting a mission.

Now that you have an ESP attack for Forestallment or Counterattack, you get to trigger Magic Relief's healing off of those, and you also get to use CMP on it to begin with so you get 100% damage on them with Magic Explosion. If you're at full stacks you have 100% chance to proc Magic Explosion, which refunds you 25 AT. Combine with Lunatic Beast or Distorted Heart.

>clear back towards the garage to consolidate your forces?
>clear forwards with your side teams while the team that starts in the garage handles the enemies in there?
>do you push down the ramp with units who can tank or otherwise avoid the hail of responsive fire?
>do you play defensively and force the enemies to give up their starting positions, abusing the fact the garage has covered glass and you can camp the stairs?
>do you push from the sides towards the middle to fuck up the rangers hiding in the alleys? (No Sweepers in the alleys!)
>do you go down the sides, where there's very limited Sniper coverage
etc etc

It's nice to see the Mungo leaders come to the conclusion that they'll refrain from taking revenge on Pascal and humanity as a whole, and instead return to the Iron Forest to reclaim their territory from Silver.
Would be a shame if a group of Troubleshooters was about to exterminate them.
I had already given up on this hell but still managed to kil the Mungo King thanks to my Swordsman Mungo.
I love that little rascal.

I've got a good start on my second attempt.
Conquered the fortress at the West Entrance and caused a mass panic in the first wave of attackers.
Now I'll just have to keep the fort...

Now you have to deal with the hard part of that spawn - approaching the King with massive open sight lines. At least he's in a pretty good spot for now.

That was quick, now that was some nice teamwork between Giselle, Leton and Heixing. Still got Third Life ahead of me, though..

Personally, I find it easier to deal with him like that since Giselle can cripple his AT from out of sight.
It's cheap but functional.

>Bibi considering her future with Alisa
>meanwhile Alisa has already decided to join Polina on her expedition into the Iron Forest
Haha...
She's so gonna be in Banished Children, there's no doubt for me.
Vendetta, Giselle and Alisa are as good as confirmed to hunt Ben, and I'm assuming Heixing and Leton will come for Carter. Kylie is likely to appear due to her involvement in the Game of Dragons and Ryo in particular, and Bibi's ties to both Alisa and Ramjist make her a likely candidate for a cameo as well.
Danny Law is a carp and closely related to the Game of Dragons as well as Carter, so he too is pretty high on my list of potential recurring characers.
Anyone I'm missing? I don't think Albus, Irene, Sion, Anne or Ray are too likely to make an appearance in person, same for Misty and the Tri-Stars. Characters like Jane and Isaac are basically bound to Wind Wall District and won't make it to the Kalter Mountains either.

Actually, nevermind.
Leton, Bianca and even Jane are all as good as confirmed to leave for the Kalter Mountains as well.
I wonder if Dandylion are going to make Banished Children accessible for newcomers by dumping lore and introducing all of these known characters anew.
They'd probably dampen their overall sales if their sole target audience consists of players who've finished Abandoned Children and both DLCs.

Leton accepts Lily's mission because she promises that his support in this endeavor has the highest chances of saving Heixing's life, whatever that's supposed to mean.
Whether or not he's joining Polina's expedition on Lily's behalf, or if he got his own, secret mission separate from the official taskforce remains unknown.
