Watch through Descend again as an example. You can see that it has very little "proper" animation, almost all of it is just one or more static images (or 2-frame gifs) sliding around. Hussie was good at making it all cohesive and dynamic despite this. At 0:55 Jack's footsteps are a whole three frames, absolutely extravagant.

I think I've identified the reason I dislike the trailer's style so much. Despite Homestuck characters being simple noseless lumpheads, Hussie manages to suggest their 3d-ness pretty well by making the features wrap around and warp with the lump. In the Spindlehorse pilot, on the other hand, in the actual shot OP's image is referencing, Dave's mouth is coming off of his head and his shades are squishing with his expression. It looks flat as fuck.

I don't like Derse being the solely opposing force to the players. It feels weird and incomplete that Prospit are just the good guys who job to the Dersites who are not only the ones who are going to win but also bribing the denizens and creating all the little underlings anywhere.

I like the idea that Prospitians are (secretly) also against the players winning, but instead of not wanting the new universe to be created they just want to sustain or keep the current universe as it is; or let the players rule Skaia as a planet for all eternity but not letting them actually finish the grand work and complete their quest of maturation and growth.

Seems like every weapon could be "balanced" as long as you alchemize some powerful shit; Sburb seems to have some kind of vague stats along with rarity of things put in and out of the alchemizer and whatever logically makes sense (pogohammer being stronger then regular hammer impact).

I also quite like the idea of "silly" weapons, like needlekind or bookkind or whatever, I wonder if in the game world they get some kind of bonus as the "Magic" characters tend to use wands or blasts or whatever that seems to be part of their Strifespeccubus. So do they actually grant abilities related to their concept? Would a "broomkind" let you make wind blasts, grant witch powers, or whatnot or is it more literal?

I always liked the idea for a "Skatebrdkind" which let you paint the ground by doing rad tricks on it and then damaging enemies who touch those props like those "turf war" multiplayer modes in the Tony Hawk games, but that's a really specific one

Animator here, it'd be hard for most professional animators since they're all trailed on Toon Boom Harmony, a primarily vector program. They could have the cleanup animators take the vector rough animation and go over it with an aliased brush in another program but the only animation programs that allow aliased brushes is older versions of Adobe Animate and Clip Studio Paint, which are only used by hobbyists and anime studios respectively.

Eridan pretends to be elitist and care about blood above all, but really thats just how he was expected to be. In actuality he opens up quite easily to anyone who talks to him and puts up with the mask. He places the blame on himself, correctly most the time, but tries to keep it hidden as not to further burden. (Outside annoying Kanaya who, lets face it cant help but try and be the group mom)

Cronus on the other hand, pretends to be chill, but the moment things dont go his was he starts to rant about his superior status and blaming everyone else. He pretends to hate himself, but all we really see past the act is pride and arrogance. these does seem to be some genuine melancholy, but we dont get much to work with.

Thats just me overthinking it all though.

When they do suggestions its usually for inconsequential things like shenanigans. Book ended by things the author intended anyways. It’s kind of like being a dungeon master in an rpg. Except instead of having players your characters have intrusive thoughts. If you get to a critical mass of suggestions the author can just choose the ones they were going to do anyways. That’s why hussie stopped doing suggestions they stopped being restrictive with the choice available.

Just FYI, saying you "shouldn't take reader suggestions" and "have an ending planned" is exactly the reason why Homestuck ended so poorly and is heavily criticized because of the strong authorial intent behind it. Keep this in mind.
