I grew up with a girl like Lucy as my parents fostered children. She had a pretty fucking horrific home life that almost justified her violent nature. We're talking levels, severity and frequency of abuse not possible until her parents were locked up and she was put in my parents care. This girl punched, kicked, slapped, bit, scratched, spat, threw things, broke things, screeched at the top of her voice all hours.
It was pretty challenging for my parents and it turned out that some chucklefuck had bungled her paperwork and she was supposed to go to a specialized family that had training and experience on how to deal with cases like her, but my mom being my mom she decided to keep her and do the training on the fly because pushing her out would have done a lot more harm than good. So I reluctantly chose to just accept her and help her no matter what because she was, for all intents and purposes, my foster sister and she deserved to be loved even if her shitbag parents had turned her into a terror.
My parents put up with her violent outbursts and screaming/crying/yelling to an extent, but my god their patience was worn paper thin. I remember looking out of my bedroom window at 3am and seeing my mom sitting outside weeping because this was the 3rd night none of us had gotten any sleep thanks to this girl. My dad would get some reprieve as he could go to work and get a few hours of sanity but my mom was stuck with this girl 24-7. Schools wouldn't touch her, hell even child psychologists would only last 4-5 appointments before they threw in the towel until we found one that wouldn't.
I also remember my dad actually losing his shit because she picked up her dinner plate and flung it at the window smashing it. He stood up, picked her up by the arm, dragged her to her bedroom and pushed her in and then stood smoking with his back to the bedroom door whilst she banged on it and screamed and smashed things inside. It was fucking insane.
