Day ?? of 沙耶の唄. I managed to create an estimate of how much time I'm going to take to finish it. Looked up a full playthrough on YouTube and saw how much time it took for the guy to read through the same amount of lines that for me was 3 hours. Turns out it's about ~10 min time. This means I still have roughly ~70 hrs of reading. It's a long shot but I shall persevere!

Sounds pretty cheap to me ( ̄▽ ̄')
Buying food in Japan was like being in heaven. Not just because of the variety, but the prices too.
Wages matter a lot in food prices. Stores collude to sell everything for as much as possible, not to be the cheapest. We had "price checkers" in our country and what happened is as soon as one store raised prices on one product, every other store followed after...
"The fair market" doesnt work very well beyond theory. The richest kill competition and fleece us all.

>We had "price checkers" in our country and what happened is as soon as one store raised prices on one product, every other store followed after...
The price checkers were competitor employees by the way not random people. We thought they were doing it to compete for low prices, but they did the opposite haha.

You can also use this https://anacreondjt.gitlab.io/docs/texthooker/ alongside a clipboard inserter extension in your browser to get everything from Textractor to this Texthooker page, and other than being able to use Yomitan, there's also a timer and character counter, so you can go to https://jpdb.io/visual-novel/5440/saya-no-uta and check the amount of characters that this VN has and make a very accurate estimate. I'm being able to read 鬼哭街 at around 2000 characters per hour, which is super slow, which means it would take about 73 days to read it from start to finish. Maybe I should stop mining every sentence and bring that number up...

I'd like to think you could get it for a few less dollars at least if you picked every item on its own, either that or they're charging you for the steak and giving you the potato and beer for free. That steak would probably be way more than $20 dollars anywhere in Europe, whereas two cans of mass-produced domestic beer would range from 1€ to 3€ if they're nicer beers. The potato I'd say you'd get for 20-50 cents.

I've apparently come across words with 3k unique kanji and I am still missing 30 常用漢字 and 200 marked jlpt1, I think those might be mostly 人名用漢字 though and I'm not sure how useful that would be during a test which i'm not even that interested in taking.
I might just have to manually look for some vocab if I'm going to fill that gap one day.
I kinda feel like 常用漢字 deserves to be expanded a bit since some of the 表外漢字 are extremely common, but I don't know how Japanese people feel about it and it probably doesn't really matter when they learn how to read them just by reading entertainment and chatting together anyways.

Here in Japan, you can buy:
>a 350ml can of beer for 150 to 300 yen ($1 to $2)
>a potato for 150 to 200 yen ($1 to $1.36)
>an American ribeye steak for 600 to 800 yen ($4 to $5.45) per 100 grams
(but I have no idea how many grams the steak is)

Anyways, everything is getting expensive in Japan too because of inflation.

>beer for ~40-60c per 500ml can (if you buy in bulk)
and looking it up ribeye seems to go from 29-32€/kg.*
However it's worth noting that generally speaking food in Austria is more expensive than Germany

Seeing those prices I would stick to chuhai. I expected potatoes to be cheaper at least. I'm a bit worried about inflation when I visit Japan. From what I've gathered eating out is still relatively cheaper (healthier and more filling) in Japan than it is in most western countries.

I've read 君の隣で恋してる (admittedly a very easy novel) and one route of サクラノ詩, which I stopped there because it already took me 7 months to read that one route.

Is this sentence understandable to a native Japanese reader? It took me a while to look up what 鏢 is, because Japanese handwriting recognition would not suggest it to me. Going through Chinese handwriting recognition worked.
