Crazy idea here, what if Kris was supposed to be The Knight? Like, people think Susie took the role of Hero 2 from Noelle and Kris took the role of Hero 1 from the Vessel.
What if Kris' original role in the prophecy was to be The Knight? But Dess took the role instead of them as part of this plan so they could be Hero 1?
And if so, perhaps Dess' original role was actually "The Prince, Alone in Deepest Dark". With her being a "female prince" archetype like Revolutionary Girl Utena?
