Have you even read Lovecraft? There's still set pieces and concrete visuals to his stories lmao, even when it comes to his horror. Cosmic horror isn't just "everything is indescribable and I'm going crazy" it's, derealization, body horror and xenophobia. All of which still requires visual representation in prose, there's no reason it can't be translated to film.

A lot of people who say that cosmic horror can't be translated into film are people who frankly haven't read a lot of cosmic horror. Especially when have movies like the Thing and True Detective which do the genre pretty well , not to mention we have the world of Junji Ito and Berserk which also uses cosmic horror effectively a lot.
