The actual reason for this is that NoA are a bunch of morons who went scorched earth on the Fates names, dumbing down the Japanese ones for fat burgers and sanitizing the western ones, while arbitrarily changing a few (Harold > Arthur). Since Xander was called "Marx" and Leo was called "Leon", they couldn't permit a gommunism reference, even though Leon doesn't really have a political connotation in the Anglosphere. Better to just burn it all to ash and replace it with whatever Emily and Brad were feeling that day.

Obviously once Leo was taken, you can't reuse it, so the actual Leo must be Leon now.
