I'd be more generous and agree if the class benefitted the team. Giving them C4 doesn't make Assault anymore useful for the team. Do you really think the average Assault player is going to use C4 when they have the option of 1 rifle + shotgun when they clearly don't give a shit about team play?
Picking Assault in the beta was handicapping yourself and your team. Giving them C4 doesn't fix it because Assualt players will just pick the shotgun or DMR or the thermobaric.
Recon players (luckily) didn't have a choice in the beta so at least recon players who bothered to press 3/4 used them. You think Recon players are selfish cunts? Assaults are worse.
