The drivers are strapped in and have Hans devices, so they aren't going to fall out. Also, if any debris or other cars wanted to come through the window opening toward the driver's head... a nylon net ain't gonna do shit.

Been watching weekend recap videos from different teams in indycar and I'm learning that some fans make homemade gifts for the drivers, and then they give the gifts to the drivers during autograph sessions, and then the drivers have to pretend to be impressed and gracious... and it's not little kids doing it, it's full on adults
