>You cant have fucking Kris be nonbinary but also if Kris has a relationship with Noelle its heteronormative
The only people making a claim like that as a broad generalization would probably be radfems acting like psychos about "lesbian erasure" or some bullshit, same kind of person who would say "you can't be bisexual if you're in a hetero relationship"
"Heteronormativity" is being applied specifically to Kris/Noelle in the Weird Route because it involves the player (and possibly other authority figures like Carol) pushing/forcing Noelle and Kris into a relationship that's much more traditional than what they would prefer (being with Susie). There's a LOT more going on that reinforces and complicates this (Noelle's implied dormant/unresolved feelings for Kris, the "childhood friend romance" angle and how that ties into Kris and Carol's "go back to how things used to/should be" motive, the fact that Kris is being used as a proxy for Your own fixation on Noelle) but there's more than enough to examine it.

Regardless of the fact that Kris is referred to with they/them pronouns they're undeniably masculine (you might call them "male-coded" if you were some obnoxious tumblr jackoff)
If Kris was perceived as feminine, they and their relationships with others would naturally be perceived differently. But they're not.
