The strange thing was that I don't remember consuming any sort of media that would have introduced me to the concept of these creatures until I was much older. It's as if I knew about them before I should have known about them.

How does the concept of praying and miracles work within the conceptual framework of free will? God is described as being all powerful and omniscient, therefore he must know exactly what will happen at all times. To get around this I imagine a Christian will probably believe that God has sandboxed the Earth in some field wherein his powers of knowledge do not apply, meaning random human free behavior is possible absent from his foresight. Problems then arise when one considers miracles and the concept of prayer. For God to intervene in this world, even once, completely throws a spanner into the concept of free will, he has nudged and guided "random chance" and "free" will. Yet seemingly Christians worldwide believe they pray and have a dialogue with Jesus or God and in turn he influences their life for the better. It is all very odd and the whole things reeks of human wish fulfillment.
