Archived events can get you some more students but for at least 6-8 months, most of them will stay at 2* because shards for archived students can only be gained in larger quantities than 1 (like from lessons) only by buying them from Expert Permit shop - endgame currency you'll start getting in larger amounts once you'll hit lvl 90 (it's a compensation, you're not getting EXP anymore so the game instead gives you the currency you can buy useful stuff with). Hasumi is an exception to that rule, Nexon screwed something up during event's release (long story) and as an apology gave all her shards out for free.
