But the reactions of the people around her are what is horrifying. Complete and total disinterest and boredom as if she only sneezed, even when she fell to the side and started bleeding profusely. Even after the stabber left, they were still indifferent.
Scenes like this are like the #1 argument for why you should want your community to comprise of people like you and people who belong to the same group as you. Imagine being fatally stabbed and there being a slim chance someone can save your life or at least comfort you in your final moments, but everyone around you just goes "not my problem" and lets you choke on your own blood. Absolutely dystopian, and an amazing advertisement for why high-trust societies are what we should strive for.
