It was good in mid-2015~late 2016
During this era you could be top 1% of player strength by simply just farming weapon drops
Gacha characters were not disgustingly overpowered outside of a few cases like release Korwa who was emergency nerfed the same day
You did not need gacha weapons or summons
Raids were reasonably difficult for the majority of players that there was good incentive to play with others
You could spam raids all day
Ever since 2017 or so the game shifted much more towards a heavier emphasis on grinding with adding in Arcarum; the gacha became more jewish with limited and hyper-limited characters and gear that were way better than anything you could farm
This eventually transitioned into raids effectively requiring you to have certain characters or summons to get through the raid's mechanics
These raids were much harder than the standard raids that people used to farm and required a lot of coordination, meaning people had to join Discords and follow guides which filtered a lot of casuals
Said raids were also the only point of access to some of the only uniquely powerful gear that F2Ps could still obtain and are required for every player to work towards
Fast forward to 2020+ and powercreep gets so bad every year that anyone who bothers to keep up with the game and rolls meta can just set up Full Auto solo teams to farm the endgame raids.
Basically all of the casuals disappeared and the only people still playing the game are those coping with sunk cost. Since you can solo 99% of content comfortably it just doesn't feel like you are playing with a community anymore unlike 2015 grub where 95% of people were shitters that were still farming their first grids and there was a great collective feeling of the playerbase advancing together.
