I'm gonna be real honest, and it's not as fun as the first
And it's not about the difficulty. This time it takes so seriously it lost the charm of the first. Design wise is worse, and it has the clear taint of woke. Believe it or not, like it or not, it turns me off. Hornet also comes off a bit of a cunt, not estoic or wise, just cuntish.

So it's not a bad game, absolutely not saying that, but it's not that enticing to finish. If it hooks it hooks, if it doesn't, well, whatever, it was 20 dollars.

>we're all in agreement that it mogs the first game
In every aspect but tonally, yes.
>and is the best Metroidvania ever created right?
It's an amazing nonlinear action platformer.
I don't think it's an amazing Metroidvania. It's a good one, some of the progression based unlocks like the grapple are fun, but character progression is super minimal (do 20 quests for... a 5% health boost thanks Elden Ring) and a lot of the unlocks are just glorified keys - needlin, super jump etc.
If I was ranking it on a Metroidvania/Metroid-Like tier list with your Rabi Ribi, your La Mulana, your Aria of Sorrow and Super Metroid - it'd still get an S but a low S.

I mean Axiom Verge 2 is getting a fucking D so as far as indie metroid sequels go it went nuclear.

A lot of the first HK progression felt like that, too. At the start you are but a measly, sickened child, who can only take a measly 5 hits, but at the end you are truly a God of Void, up against the toughest Dream Bosses and Pure Vessel, and you can now take... exactly 5 hits. Or you could not bother with masks at all and take 3 and that's really not that much different.

The only upgrades that really felt like the moved the needle at all in the first HK were the damage-ups. Which we know they do, because we have the datamined numbers and it goes up 4 points a level at base 5 so Pure Nail deals 4x as much damage.

I'm curious what the under-the-numbers calculations are going to look like for Silksong. I definitely used Tools an infinite amount more than Nail Arts, or any spell that isn't the one with i-frames, but the Needle is definitely going to be a fair bit worse than the Nail in terms of spell damage ratios. Silksong makes it such a pain in the ass to get half the damage upgrades so I can't image they're that integral.

I miss this little nigga like you wouldn't believe
About to fight the regular final boss. What are the requirements for Act 3 and the true ending/boss? Don't want to get locked out but I have no idea whether I will have access or not.
Its going to be funny seeing everyone here bandwagon the inevitable Amazon series

I don't personally think this game will live up to people's expectations. It won't be garbage, far from it, but I feel like it's built up such a mythical status that, no matter how good the quality is, a lot of people will end up feeling like the wait wasn't worth it.
As for me, all I hope for is that the gameplay is as fun as it looks in the trailers. I'm not asking for much.
It was great. I loved the boss rush mode too. Got a massive rush of dopamine after beating Nightmare King Grimm on Radiant.
