Lumiere existed before the fracture because Aline went in first but certainly much of its remembered history is artificial. They've also been stuck in a deathloop for those 67 years where people die younger and younger, of course the current characters backstories are contained in that world shaking trauma.

That's exactly what they are, as most of the world was painted by Verso as a place to have fun adventures.

No shit, they're artificial people desperately fighting a losing battle that is wiping out their culture and everybody knows it. It's extremely grim.
