First of all a lot of your examples actually have demonstrable gameplay footage. They were canceled because of developer fuck ups, developers blaming the fans for their fuck ups, or because the scripts were dogshit.
There is none of this for Hytale and it is still hyped to "exist" is the problem. They just need to pull the trigger already. End the suffering.
Also Valve hasn't made a game since half life 1 and is completely dependent on purchasing mods to their own engine.
