>inb4 someone says pretentious or "insist"
Whoever says this has never been in a serious relationship with someone.
I use to think the same thing years ago until I went through a divorce.
Made the mistake of watching this movie during it, thought I'd be tougher.
Sam Neil throughout the movie is absurdly accurate to how I felt the entire movie.
To the utmost uncanny extremes of the movie even.
Even the scene with the monster having sex with her can be viewed as a stranger now clawing their way at your ex wife's breast and how you'll have to cope with it.
The ending was beautiful.
With the conclusion that the monster becomes a better version of you, in all ways. That the monster will also be better than her and will leave her at the wayside also after their moment of lust. That there is a better version of her also (the teacher) who the monster calls home to. The ending with the raid sirens and the impending apocalypse also got to me. As now the only thing left of the relationship is the boy, who drowns himself. because he is a failure of a failed relationship and he must be dead for the better versions of both to have their own child.
It's pretentious, but it's fucking real also. Go fuck yourselves.
