Turns out that the upkeep needed and trained retail employees required is way more expensive than a warehouse full of amazon wagecages and just can't compete on price or convenience. Arcades leeched off malls/brick and mortar retail's success and when that died, so did Arcades.

I hate larpers. Ultima Online's world was fucking empty to accomodate people placing houses wherever they wanted, this shit wouldn't fly in any game nowadays. Also because of this, the world was very immersion-breaking because it's just forests, mountains and people's houses everywhere with their shitty decorations, all with different clashing styles, in places that make no sense.
