You'll be starting out in the lowest ranks where most of the players don't know how to play the game. It's impossible to ruin it. You should treat every ranked lobby from Bronze to Jade as one long tutorial that gets progressively harder. The thing about normal AI is that it has no concept of defense and just rushes into the quickest hand possible, even when it shouldn't, so it's substantially worse than the average Jade player.
