In all fairness, most of the so-called "purchases" for land were made under duress. For example, America technically "bought" the American Southwest from Mexico. But we did so while occupying Mexico City. During Westward expansion, if there was payment, it always came after wars, and after such restrictions were placed that made the native way-of-life impossible.
It would be like if the government put a fence around your house, and wouldn't let you leave, then offered you $100 for it when you were on the verge of starvation.
Furthermore, many of the purchases were by people who didn't have the authority to sell it in the first place. As the old saying goes "too many chiefs, not enough indians". The Native-American tribes didn't have a centralized government. The tribes were a semi-organic loose confederation with a chief in every village. Deals were sometimes made with a "chief", or a multitude of "chiefs", who claimed to represent the whole, but who had no such authority.
Only the "civilized" tribes had anything like the hierarchical government structure necessary to function as a state.
Regardless, Europe stole(conquered) this land and anyone who believes otherwise is a fucking moron.
