I mean, if you're actively looking to start a civil war in a Western country and install a violently anti-immigrant, far-right government, I could see the benefits of aligning with Russia. As Russia has (comparatively) deep pockets and could provide you with the arms and a safe haven to operate out of.
If that isn't your goal however, aligning with Russia is pretty useless. If you're trying to take power legally, everyone else is just going to see you as a stooge for foreign powers at best, a literal traitor at worst.
