That's actually another thing that bothers me about Tau lore, the Guardsmen are allowed to kill daemons because daemons are not immune to guns, just somewhat resistant to them. If you shoot a daemon enough times with a lasgun they will die. Hell, Cadia has literally established itself as a fortress against daemons manned by regular dudes with guns.

But then whenever the Tau are fighting daemons for some reason they suddenly become basically completely immune to regular weapons and they need to pull out something supernatural to do any damage. It's silly.

That's my whole point.

Armageddon was a war over a single planet. Are we honestly going to say that THAT was a major war that required significant investment and resources, but the wars against the Tau where several dozen planets get burnt to ashes just to slow their expansion down aren't? Doesn't it seem a little odd that the Imperium is committing mega-exterminatus several star systems with dozens of planets just to slow a minor xeno empire down that they supposedly could wipe out at any time with only minimal to moderate effort if they wanted to?

That's my problem with these sorts of discussions. Not matter what the Imperium does to fight the Tau, it's never considered a serious effort. Entire chapters of Space Marines get wiped out, Titan Legions are lost, dozens off planets get the exterminatus treatment, hundreds of billions of Guardsmen die on a single front of the war in a crusade against the Tau, and the Imperium "Isn't even trying" and is putting in the minimum effort...

...but some Orks land on a single planet and only 1.5 million Guardsmen fight against them and it's considered a huge and important War? It's fucking nonsense that people make up in their minds.
