What proper setup?
You just run around the Black Keep's entrance with torrent by collecting them from static gathering points, exactly like you'd do with things like Rowa Raisins or Cracked Crystals, except both of these have at least the decency of being not just extremely common but also have more than just one piece per gathering point.
Trying to get them from enemies as a drop is just not viable because you'd need to have an enormous Arcane score AND farm other consumables like Silver Horn Tenders for the drop rates to become vaguely acceptable, and there's nothing interesting in doing laps around the Black Keep's library, it's just tedious busywork.
Let's be honest, the only reason why they do not let you access these consumables' components freely is because they're actually that good, which again, encourages cheating because why the fuck would you waste hours and hours of your time for something that should be a baseline and doesn't even make sense to be a consumable to begin with?
Why does the Ancestral Infant's Head somehow have an unlimited supply of magical water in it but I can't reuse a Spritestone? There's no coherency there.
Why did the turn Iron Flesh into a limited consumable with the Ironjar Aromatic after three games? Because Iron Flesh is really fucking busted and since they REALLY wanted to recycle things as is rather than rebalancing the math they chose to make it a strictly limited consumable buff this time around, too bad that only encourages people to cheat those things in now.
Again, I do not condone cheating but it's really not a big mystery that it's so rampant when it comes to consumables.
