I just think yuruyuri is nice. You get the impression that nothing bad ever happens in the yuruverse. That's pretty standard fare for cgdct but it feels extra potent here. Everything unpleasant that happens is just there ultimately for the characters to bond over and show how much they care for each other. Even Akari.
