I still think there's going to be a twist where it's revealed the SOUL is actually its own character as well, and existed with its own will before we were handed the steering wheel. It clearly existed before we started the game based on Kris' behavior. Though maybe that'd be too much of a retread of Chara.

WE are forced into Kris, our choice removed. Kris is able tor rip us out at any time and do whatever they want without us in them. We're the one doing the work in dark fountains, and yet Kris gets the credit. We are the one tasked with saving the world and the one who attempts to fight fate by battling the roaring knight.
And yet.
Kris, the one opening fountains, colluding with the knight, actively sabotages the theme, throws the knight fight, tells the knight to wrap up the fight if we are doing too well, set up undyne to be kidnapped, was originally intended to laugh at us as the opened the bunker doors (cut), attacks us, locks us into cages and presents, and over all is using us...
And still yet, the story is going to end with out banishment. As Kris gets the credit, and we are blamed for everything. And we are unable to QUIT because if we do the world ends, the world is covered in darkness if WE give up.
And yet, despite everything, we're somehow now the true victim?
