>No, it's the core of Zelda distilled into 3D
OoT is a pretense. It lloks like Zelda on a superficial level but from the moment the game starts, it absolutely and utterly betrays its roots.

>What killed the franchise is refusing to treat the players like
players. Which is the entire game design philosophy behind OoT, to rob the player from having any way to meaningfully express themselves.

>That's hardly a mode of creative expression
>original zelda: you don't need to even pick the sword
>OoT: go get a sword and farm for rupees to buy a shield or I the bug kid won't allow you to pass!
There's no meaningful expression in OoT by design. That's why sales kept going down after that because all the devs cared about was for them to express themselves at the expense of the player. OoT is not the greatest game of all time and never will because it's profoundly anti gaming and anti player at its core.
