It was a shamefur dispray of defense.
Secondly, Kaepernick didn't implode because of rule changes, he was fucked as soon as soon as people realized he was a one-read babby who could only throw a fastball to wide open receivers and had no touch or ability t read defense. The only reason he didn't go to shit immediately is that the Niners had the best run game in football and defenses had to prioritize stopping Frank Gore AND they had a really good defense. But as soon as the rest of the team around him wasn't s-tier he got exposed hard. He wouldn't throw to anyone who wasn't wide open and no one was ever open so 90% of the passing plays ended up with him giving up on the play and running to the sideline for a 2 yard gain. That last year in SF he averaged 230 yards per game in COMBINED rushing and passing yards. It was one of the most painful viewing experiences of my life. Just terrible, pointless, hopeless football. c) Every ability in the game is situationally useful to some extent even if some are blatantly more useful than others. I thought security bullseye was completely pointless but then I used it to tag thuggish splicers or big daddies who were in the right spot at the right time because I didn't have time to hack the turret or camera they were in range of and it works really well. There's some places where you have multiple turrets close by and a camera and it just sets them all off instantly. Not consistently useful but in the right spot it hits big.
Similarly, I ignored the target dummy because in my head it just didn't seem like it would make any real difference but then I realized it completely becomes the enemy's #1 priority even if they were already on top of you and can buy you breathing room whenever you need it, or keep splicers from targeting your hacked turrets.. And you can use it to lure enemies to specific areas if you've set up traps.
There's not a lot of occasions where a specific ability is absolutely necessary but you can get use out of any of them if you try new things.
